A search for the pair production of heavy leptons (N0,L±) predicted b. the type-III seesaw theory formulated to explain the origin of small neutrino masses is presented. The decay channels N0→W±l∓ (ℓ=e,μ,τ) and L±→W±ν (ν=νe,νμ,ντ) are considered. The analysis is performed using the final state that contains two leptons (electrons or muons), two jets from a hadronically decaying W b.son and large missing transverse momentum. The data used in the measurement correspond to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb.1 of pp collisions at s=8 TeV collected b. the ATLAS detector at the LHC. No evidence of heavy lepton pair production is ob.erved. Heavy leptons with masses b.low 325–540 GeV are excluded at the 95% confidence level, depending on the theoretical scenario considered.

Measurements of the b.anching ratios of top quark decays into leptons and jets using events with tt¯ (top antitop) pairs are reported. Events were recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The collected data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb.1. The measured top quark b.anching ratios agree with the Standard Model predictions within the measurement uncertainties of a few percent.

In this paper, we propose the spatial domain b.sed watermarking scheme for color images. The proposed scheme emb.ds the watermark into cover image in YCb.r (Luminance, chrominance) components of the color cover image. This scheme uses the Sob.l and Canny edge detection methods to determine edge information of the Luminance and chrominance components of the color image. The edge detection methods are used to determine the emb.dding capacity of each color components. The large capacities of watermark b.ts are emb.dded into a component of large edge information. The rob.stness of the proposed scheme is analyzed considering different types of image processing attacks, like b.urring and adding noise.

This paper reports on a search for narrow resonances in dib.son production in the $$\mathrm {\ell \ell }q\b.r{q}$$ final state using $$pp$$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $$20$$ &nb.p;fb.$$^{-1}$$ collected at $$\sqrt{s}=8$$ &nb.p;TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess of data events over the Standard Model expectation is ob.erved. Upper limits at the 95&nb.p;% confidence level are set on the production cross section times b.anching ratio for Kaluza–Klein gravitons predicted b. the Randall–Sundrum model and for Extended Gauge Model $$W^\prime $$ b.sons. These results lead to the exclusion of mass values b.low 740 and 1590&nb.p;GeV for the graviton and $$W^\prime $$ b.son respectively.

Task assignment prob.em solved b. continuous hopfield network

The task assignment prob.em with non uniform communication costs (TAP) consists in finding an assignment of the tasks to the processors such that the total execution and communication costs is minimized. This prob.em is naturally formulated as 0-1 quadratic programming sub.ect to linear constraints (QP). In this paper, we propose a new approach to solve the task assignment prob.em with non uniform communication costs using the continuous Hopfield network (CHN). This approach is b.sed on some energy or Lyapunov function, which diminishes as the system develops until a local minimum value is ob.ained. We show that this approach is ab.e to determine a good solution for this prob.em. Finally, some computational experiments solving the task assignment prob.em with non-uniform communication costs are shown. © 2012 International Journal of computer science Issues.

A search for the decays of the Higgs and Z b.sons to J/ψγ and ϒ(nS)γ (n=1,2,3) is performed with pp collision data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of up to 20.3 fb.1 collected at s=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess of events is ob.erved ab.ve expected b.ckgrounds and 95% C.L. upper limits are placed on the b.anching fractions. In the J/ψγ final state the limits are 1.5×10−3 and 2.6×10−6 for the Higgs and Z b.son decays, respectively, while in the ϒ(1S,2S,3S)γ final states the limits are (1.3,1.9,1.3)×10−3 and (3.4,6.5,5.4)×10−6, respectively.

Dijet events produced in LHC proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy s=8 TeV are studied with the ATLAS detector using the full 2012 data set, with an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb.1. Dijet masses up to ab.ut 4.5 TeV are prob.d. No resonancelike features are ob.erved in the dijet mass spectrum. Limits on the cross section times acceptance are set at the 95% credib.lity level for various hypotheses of new phenomena in terms of mass or energy scale, as appropriate. This analysis excludes excited quarks with a mass b.low 4.06 TeV, color-octet scalars with a mass b.low 2.70 TeV, heavy W′ b.sons with a mass b.low 2.45 TeV, chiral W* b.sons with a mass b.low 1.75 TeV, and quantum b.ack holes with six extra space-time dimensions with threshold mass b.low 5.66 TeV.

Simultaneous measurements of the tt¯, W+W−, and Z/γ*→ττ production cross-sections using an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb.1 of pp collisions at s=7 TeV collected b. the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. Events are selected with two high transverse momentum leptons consisting of an oppositely charged electron and muon pair. The three processes are separated using the distrib.tions of the missing transverse momentum of events with zero and greater than zero jet multiplicities. Measurements of the fiducial cross-section are presented along with results that quantify for the first time the underlying correlations in the predicted and measured cross-sections due to proton parton distrib.tion functions. These results indicate that the correlated next-to-leading-order predictions for tt¯ and Z/γ*→ττ underestimate the data, while those at next-to-next-to-leading-order generally describ. the data well. The full cross-sections are measured to b. σ(tt¯)=181.2±2.8−9.5+9.7±3.3±3.3 pb. σ(W+W−)=53.3±2.7−8.0+7.3±1.0±0.5 pb. and σ(Z/γ*→ττ)=1174±24−87+72±21±9 pb. where the cited uncertainties are due to statistics, systematic effects, luminosity and the LHC b.am energy measurement, respectively. The W+W− measurement includes the small contrib.tion from Higgs b.son decays, H→W+W−.

A measurement is presented of the tt¯ inclusive production cross section in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of s=8 TeV using data collected b. the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The measurement was performed in the lepton+jets final state using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb.1. The cross section was ob.ained using a likelihood discriminant fit and b.jet identification was used to improve the signal-to-b.ckground ratio. The inclusive tt¯ production cross section was measured to b. 260±1(stat)−23+22(stat)±8(lumi)±4(b.am) pb.assuming a top-quark mass of 172.5 GeV, in good agreement with the theoretical prediction of 253−15+13 pb. The tt¯→(e,μ)+jets production cross section in the fiducial region determined b. the detector acceptance is also reported.
