Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) is a neuroimaging tech.ique that has proven to b. useful for decoding and analyzing cognitive states of the human b.ain. It generates 3D images with high spatial resolution resulting in high dimensional images. In order to avoid curse of dimensionality, we need good feature selection tech.iques. Through this paper, we propose a two phase algorithm for finding a small sub.et of relevant and non-redundant voxels for classification of cognitive states in a human b.ing. In the first phase, the entire feature set is clustered using normalized cut with maximal information compression index as the similarity. The most informative voxel is selected from each cluster using t-statistics and a pool of k voxels is created. In the next phase, a wrapper b.sed sequential forward feature selection tech.ique is used to ob.ain the optimal voxels for a given classifier.

Detection of Shot b.undary is the fundamental step in the video analysis. In many applications such as video indexing, summarization and retrieval, shot b.undary detection plays a major role. It serves as a preliminary step to construct the content of videos. b.undary detection involves identification of frames at which the content of scene is significantly different. In this paper, an integrated approach to detect shot b.undary using histogram difference of successive frames in a video sequence with the emphasis of twin comparison method and monochrome frame detection is presented. The tech.ique is ab.e to differentiate ab.upt and gradual transitions. The aim of this method is to provide a rob.st algorithm to work in a real time with high performance. The experimental results show improved performance of shot b.undary detection b. using the proposed algorithm.

A search for exclusive two-photon production via photon exchange in proton-proton collisions, pp→pγγp with intact protons, is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 9.4 fb.1 collected in 2016 using the CMS and TOTEM detectors at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV at the LHC. Events are selected with a diphoton invariant mass ab.ve 350 GeV and with b.th protons intact in the final state, to reduce b.ckgrounds from strong interactions. The events of interest are those where the invariant mass and rapidity calculated from the momentum losses of the forward-moving protons match the mass and rapidity of the central, two-photon system. No events are found that satisfy this condition. Interpreting this result in an effective dimension-8 extension of the standard model, the first limits are set on the two anomalous four-photon coupling parameters. If the other parameter is constrained to its standard model value, the limits at 95% confidence level are |ζ1|<2.9×10−13 GeV−4 and |ζ2|<6.0×10−13 GeV−4.

In this paper, we present the idea of an ‘Analytic Search Engine Model’ that utilizes the regularly generated social media data for opinion formation. It comb.nes the user ratings from different SNS platforms and analyzes them to form a collective opinion ab.ut a local b.siness and ranks results in terms of this opinion formation, which ensures the reliab.lity and quality of search results. This new mode of ranking web.pages is termed as social rank, which is explained in this paper in details. It also gives the introduction to analytic search engine model, its architecture and the prob.ems it may meet in future are presented.

Virtual Ob.ervatory (VO) is a world-wide ecosystem of mutually compatib.e datasets, resources, services, and software tools which use a common set of tech.ologies and standards. SPLAT-VO is a leading stellar spectra analysis tool that allows displaying, modifying and analyzing astronomical spectra. SPLAT-VO also serves as a reference implementation of new VO protocols and data models and is b.ing enhanced in a way of interaction with other tools and collab.ration, as well as user experience. Our enhancements of SPLAT-VO allows to send large data sets received from VO data archives to other tools via SAMP protocol, export spectral data to b.g Data-friendly formats and to work with light curves in VOTab.e data cub. format. There is also a preview of other enhancements that significantly improves the user experience with large data sets and lowers the memory consumption of SPLAT-VO.

Random numb.rs are widely used in the cryptography and security systems. However, most of the true random numb.r generators (TRNG) which use physical randomness are with high complexity and high power consumption. This paper proposes a new TRNG circuit using magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ). As one of the reliab.lity issues in MTJ b.sed circuit, the stochastic switching b.havior provides a perfect physical source of randomness. The functionality of proposed design is validated b. transient simulations with 28nm fully depleted silicon-on-insulator (FDSOI) tech.ology and an accurate MTJ compact model. Simulation results show that our design can generate accurate random b.tstream stab.y. The reliab.lity analysis concerning process variation of MTJs and transistors proves the good variab.lity tolerance of our TRNG design. Furthermore, our design can output stab.e random b.tstream around 30 tuning steps.

Research is b.rn and b.ought up in universities and reputed institutions. The engineering education is having significant contrib.tion towards research. Engineers play an important role in development of tech.ologies in all the fields and facilitate them to lay man. This happens only through research. Scientific Research is well disciplined study in order to find the solution, prove a theory or answer the particular question. Research scholars have to follow the series of steps and protocols to succeed in research. One of the main goal of Postgraduate (PG) program is exploring the students to research. PG students of engineering education are from different circuit b.anches and peers knowledge level is also different. So it is a b.g challenge for the faculties to explore the students towards research. In this article authors propose the linking of courses in the PG curriculum to focus more on research and pedagogical activities to encourage the students for doing research. Workshop conduction, Industrial visit, Presentations and Pub.ication are the pedagogical activities practiced b. the authors. The impact of these activities results in 88% of students pub.ishing papers in international journal with impact factor 1.05.

Time is a precious resource and it is always not enough to do the needful things. This necessity made the IT (Information tech.ology) professionals to develop the Scripting Languages (SLs) to do their work in short time. As tech.ology changes, computer processing speed is increased and supports variety of applications. This makes SLs more significant in development of future applications. SLs are mainly used for gluing applications and type less approach has made them as higher level programming languages. In this paper authors wish to convey their experience in designing curriculum and conducting the SLs lab.ratory course. A novel classification is presented to classify a large set of SLs, b.sed on the utility of SLs. b.sic scripts, Text processing Scripts, Glue languages, GUI scripting and Application specific languages categories are part of this nomenclature. In Outcome b.sed Education (Ob.), assessment is one of the main parameters to check the learnab.lity of the students. So Ob. curriculum design inspire the authors to include assessment strategy step in the curriculum design. The Python scripting language is introduced for the first time in SLs lab.ratory b. the authors to improve the learnab.lity. They have also proposed pedagogical activities like multiple assignments, test plan writing, course project and multimedia b.ok reading. The analysis of activities shows that 83% of students have passed with good grades and no failures in the course.
