He completed his bachelor of science degree in aeropace and ocean engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1985 and his master of science degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Maryland in 1990. Mr. Dirlik recently completed a master of science program in applied physics at The Johns Hopins University and currently works in the Radar Cross Section and Target Physics Branch of the Signatures Directorate at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Corderoke Division. He has worked on Navy low observable programs since 1990. Stephen Hambric:is a research associate at the Applied Research Laboratory at The Pennsylvania State University. He received his B. S. and M.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and his D. Sc. in mechnical engineering from the George Washington University. He has worked on several computer aided multidiscikplinary design and optimization projects over the years including an automated propeller design system and a structural acoustic optimization capability. Dr. Shpour Azarm:is currently working as an associate professor with the Design and Manufacturing Group of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of maryland at College Park. Dr Azarm's expertise is in the areas of optimization-based designed and concurrent design and optimization of multidisciplinary systems. He was a consultant at Black & Decker Corporation (summer 1996) and worked as a Navy senior summer faculty fellow (summer 1995) and a NASA summer faculty fellow (summer 1994). He was a visiting scientist at NASA Langley Research Center for Multidisciplinary Analysis and Applied Structural Optimzatiom at the University of Siegen in Germany (spring 1992) and the Design Institute of the Technical University of Denmark (summer 1990). 作者: MCLEAN, M HILL, J COb., R RANDALL, F Mark McLean:has been with the Naval Sea Systems Command for eight years and is currently with Code 03K. He is responsible for survivability assessment of combat systems equipment. He has participated in all U.S. Navy ship shock tests conducted since 1985 and is responsible for failure assessment and redesign efforts for numerous combat systems equipment. He was selected by the NavSea Program Offices to be a member of the damage assessment teams providing early inspection in the Samuel B. Roberts (FFG-58) and Princeton (CG-59) incidents. Mr. McLean graduated from the University of Virginia in 1983 with an MS degree in chemical engineering. Jerry Hill:has been with NKF Engineering Inc. for twelve years. Currently managing the structural dynamics department Mr. Hill is responsible for numerous survivability related analysis and design efforts. This includes dynamic mathematical simulation and prediction field testing and qualification and full-scale ship shock testing. Mr. Hill graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS degree in mechanical engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer. Dr. Richard Cobb:has been with NKF Engineering Inc. as a senior engineer since 1990. He is involved with research and development projects including dynamics modal testing vibration design instrumentation and underwater explosion. Prior to joining NKF he was an instructor of mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech. Dr. Cobb holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech with dissertation research in the areas of experimental modal analysis and frequency response function estimation using Fast Fourier transform methods. Fred Randall:has been manager of the noise shock and vibration department at Bath Iron Works since 1987. As such he is responsible for all dynamic measurements conducted by the shipyard. He spent the next two years working as a Visiting Professor in Egypt after which he moved to Ottawa Canada in 1982. He assumed teaching and research positions in Carleton and Manitoba Univerities and later moved to Concordia University Montreal Canada in 1983 where he is now a Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. He has published numerous papers in IEEE and international journals in the areas of spread spectrum and networking. Cohen:is head of the Coast Guard's Boat Technical Section which is responsible for the design and alteration of patrol boats self-righting rescue craft buoy boats utility boats and other special purpose craft. Since joining the Coast Guard in 1980 Mr. Cohen has been involved in a wide variety of small craft design and construction projects and several research projects. Formerly with Hydronautics Inc. he participated in various aspects of ship research and small craft prototypes. Mr. Cohen is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the State University of New York Maritime College. He holds a Coast Guard Marine Engineer's license and is a member of the American Society of Naval Engineers the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and the American Boat and Yacht Council. Debabrata Ghosh:is a senior naval architect in the Coast Guard's Boat Technical Section and is currently engaged in the preliminary design of the fully capable patrol boat and the 47-ft self-righting motor life boat. Mr. Ghosh received a B. Tech. (Honors) in naval architecture from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur India and an MBA from the Tulane School of Business. He has been involved with small craft design for over 10 years. His past experience at MonArk Boat Co. and Dravo Steelship Corp. includes the design of various workboats pilot boats crew boats and utility boats. Mr. Ghosh has also been involved with the design of jack ups semi-submersibles and self-elevating workover barges at Korkut Engineers Inc. and Carlos Monje Inc.
