We propose a hybrid feedback control strategy that safely steers a point-mass robot to a target location optimally from all initial conditions in the n-dimensional euclidean space with a single spherical obstacle. The robot moves straight to the target when it has a clear line-of-sight to the target location. Otherwise, it engages in an optimal obstacle avoidance maneuver via the shortest path inside the cone enclosing the obstacle and having the robot’s position as a vertex. The switching strategy that avoids the undesired equilibria, leading to global asymptotic stability (GAS) of the target location, relies on using two appropriately designed virtual destinations, ensuring control continuity and shortest path generation. In this article, experimental performance assessment and comparison are presented for solid, low impedance, high impedance, frequency-selective, and isolated grounding (IG) systems. The typical design of a grounding system (for low and medium voltage generation, transmission, and distribution systems) is based on selecting an impedance (ZG), which is used to connect the neutral point and the ground. The impedance ZG is typically composed from a combination of R, L, and C elements. The combination type (series or parallel), along with the values of R, L, C elements, allow estimating the possib.e effects of ZG on ground currents and potentials during ground faults. In this article, solid, low impedance, high impedance, frequency-selective, and IG systems are designed for a 35-kVA 3φ transformer and a 5-kVA 3φ synchronous generator, for purposes of assessing and comparing their effects on ground currents and potentials during ground faults. The laboratory transformer and generator are tested for line-to-ground and doub.e line-to-ground faults with all designed grounding systems under different loading levels. experimental results show that some grounding systems can effectively reduce ground currents, and other grounding systems can effectively reduce ground potentials. These capabilities and features can be used to achieve certain system and operation mandates, including ground capacity, maximum allowed overvoltage, and service continuity. © 1972-2012 Ieee.

In the modern digital landscape, integrating geographic locations and textual descriptions within a geo-textual dataset enhances location-based services (LbS) via spatial keyword queries, as these queries combine spatial and textual information to deliver more precise and personalized results. Additionally, the advent of cloud computing allows data owners to outsource data management and services to the cloud, boosting scalability but introducing efficiency challenges due to complex encryption. Although many schemes have b.en proposed for spatial keyword queries on encrypted geo-textual data, none supports matching a query keyword set with the keyword sets of multiple ob.ects, a common query type in LbS. Imagine a user seeking to rent a house close to his/her workplace, with easy access to conveniences like supermarkets. by using nearby-fit spatial keyword queries, we can match the desired house with a house-type target ob.ect and its nearby amenities, offering more practical and flexib.e recommendations than traditional spatial keyword queries. Hence, in this paper, we introduce an efficient and privacy-preserving scheme called the Privacy-preserving Weighted Nearby-fit Spatial Keyword (PWNSK) query scheme. First, we design a target-oriented spatial keyword (TOSK) tree for data organization and a TOSK tree based WNSK query algorithm for efficient pruning by simultaneously utilizing locations, keywords, and distances from nearby ob.ects to target ob.ects. For privacy, we develop several protocols, including one for polynomial coefficient re-encoding, based on polynomial coefficient encoding and fully homomorphic encryption. building on these protocols, we introduce our PWNSK scheme. A thorough security analysis confirms its robustness, while extensive experiments also showcase its effectiveness. © 2014 Ieee.

In recent years, for recognizing sign language, several hardware approaches have b.en developed using the leap motion controller and Kinect sensors. The sensor-based approaches were costly, and the complexity of designing was high. In machine learning approaches, it was found that less accuracy of prediction occurs as compared to other approaches. As a solution, machine learning-based approaches using image processing evolved as an approach with better prediction and accuracy. In this paper, deep learning approach for sign language recognition (SLR) system has b.en proposed using AlexNet model. AlexNet is pretrained model, and it is being tested on Indian Sign Language (ISL) Dataset pf Stanford University comprising of alphabets (A–Z) and numerals (0–9). This article presents a performance comparison of the solid, low impedance, high impedance, frequency-selective, and isolated grounding systems. A grounding system (for any power system component) is designed as an impedance (ZG) that connects the neutral point to the ground. The impedance ZG is constructed using a combination of R, L, and C elements. The values and combination type (series or parallel) of R, L, and C determine the possib.e influence of ZG on ground currents and potentials. each grounding system is related to a system voltages level, a specific combination of R, L, and C, and a range of R, L, and C values. The solid, low impedance, high impedance, frequency-selective, and isolated grounding systems are designed for a 3φ transformer and a 3φ synchronous generator in order to compare their influences on ground currents and potentials during ground faults. The transformer and generator are tested for line-to-ground and doub.e line-to-ground faults with all designed grounding systems. Test results show that some grounding systems can reduce ground currents only, while others can reduce ground potentials only. Such capabilities can be used to fulfill certain system and operation requirements (e.g., service continuity, ground capacity, etc.). © 1972-2012 Ieee.

Hybrid Feedback Control for Global Navigation with Locally Optimal Obstacle Avoidance in n-Dimensional Spaces

We present a hybrid feedback control framework for autonomous robot navigation in n-dimensional euclidean spaces cluttered with spherical obstacles. The proposed approach ensures safe navigation and global asymptotic stability (GAS) of the target location by dynamically switching between two operational modes: motion-to-destination and locally optimal obstacle-avoidance. It produces continuous velocity inputs, ensures collision-free trajectories and generates locally optimal obstacle avoidance maneuvers. Unlike existing methods, the proposed framework is compatib.e with range sensors, enabling navigation in both a priori known and unknown environments. extensive simulations in 2D and 3D settings, complemented by experimental validation on a Turtlebot 4 platform, confirm the efficacy and robustness of the approach. Our results demonstrate shorter paths and smoother trajectories compared to state-of-the-art methods, while maintaining computational efficiency and real-world feasibility. © 2024, CC bY-NC-ND.

To coordinate access from the active nodes, MAC protocols are used in ad hoc networks. Many media access control (MAC) protocols have b.en suggested for use in ad hoc networks, each with its own unique set of goals. The goal of many ad hoc networks is to increase the amount of time that its individual nodes, and by extension, the network, can function. Ad-hoc nodes are considered dead when their batteries run out, hence it is crucial to reduce power drain. because to the nature of MANeTs, in which nodes must depend on limited, portab.e power sources, energy efficiency is a significant barrier to their widespread implementation. In multi-hop systems, where nodes must additionally expend energy to route packets for other nodes and assure the connection of the network, energy saving is difficult. Since energy-efficient routing is a relatively new area of study, there are still many open questions that need to be investigated and no widely accepted standards in place. Several routing protocols used the shortest route as a criterion for path selection; however, this is inappropriate due to the topology's significant and unexpected variability and does not assume the most efficient use of energy. Simulation is the primary tool for testing the efficacy of several routing protocols in MANeTs, including RIP, RIPng, PS-RIP, PSLLC-RIP, PS-RIPng, PSLLC-RIPng, FLbUDTCRIP, and ANFISbUDTCRIP. exata 5.4 GUI network simulator and OPNeT tools are used to analyse the efficiency of the suggested protocols. All the simulation results show \that the suggested protocols perform better than the current RIP protocols.

Medical image processing is highly developed and critical in the medical field, encompassing methods like X-rays, MRI, and CT scans. These techniques help to identify minute defects in the human body. brain tumors, which disrupt normal brain function, are detected through MRI using segmentation, feature extraction, and classification, processes that are time-consuming and depend on the expertise of clinical professionals. computer-aided technology addresses these challenges. This work aims to diagnose brain tumors accurately and quickly using MRI images. Image pre-processing is done using CLAHe and median filter to enhance contrast and eliminate noise. Thresholding is used for segmentation and a lightweight U-net is used for tumor segmentation, achieving high accuracy and efficiency without extensive training data. Finally, an MSD-CNN classifies the tumor, capturing both local and global features for better image recognition. Our proposed model outperforms over existing methods in terms of accuracy, robustness, and efficiency in brain tumor detection.

The emergence of Artificial Intelligence, deep learning, and current computer vision algorithms are the main contributors to innovations in the agricultural domain. The most recent detection algorithms capab.e of giving real-time detections at the edge nodes tackle most agricultural prob.ems, such as disease, pest or insect detections, and maturity level detection of crops (fruits and vegetab.es). Modern harvesters and fruit-picking robots rely heavily on the detection capability of the algorithms used. Various detection algorithms have b.en proposed and used in literature, having good performance in terms of mean average precision. Still, the current agricultural systems require not only high mean average accuracy but also algorithms should have high inference speeds. The research proposes a Detectron2-based framework with PointRend (Point-based Rendering), capab.e of providing enhanced, high-quality pixel-level instance segmentation in identifying and detecting green gram pods or Mung bean (Vigna Radiata) in natural field conditions rendering crisp and smooth boundaries for accurately locating the green gram pods. The results indicate that the proposed framework outperforms the famous Mask R-CNN model to obtain higher mean average precision and improved quality of detections. © 2023, The Authors. Cascading failures, such as bankruptcies and defaults, pose a serious threat for the resilience of the global financial system. Indeed, because of the complex investment and cross-holding relations within the system, failures can occur as a result of the propagation of a financial collapse from one organization to another. While this prob.em has b.en studied in depth from a static angle, namely, when the system is at an equilibrium, we take a different perspective and study the corresponding dynamical system. The contribution of this paper is threefold. First, we carry out a systematic analysis of the regions of attraction and invariance of the system orthants, defined by the positive and negative values of the organizations’ equity. Second, we investigate periodic solutions and show through a counterexample that there could exist periodic solutions of period greater than 2. Finally, we study the prob.em of finding the smallest cash injection that would bring the system to the maximal invariant region of the positive orthant. © 2025, CC bY.
