In planning a fixed/mobile cellular communication system initial cell-site positioning should be considered carefully. In practice co-channel and adjacent channel interference not only depend on frequency allocation and transmitting power but also on cell-site location. This paper introduces a linear regression of coverageborder method for optimum cell-site positioning. The mathematical model provides true location and the designer can compare his knowledge-based approach with the model for better precision.

Autonomy of operations combined with decentralized management of data gives rise to a number of heterogeneous databases or information systems within an enterprise. These systems are often incompatib.e in structure as well as content and, hence, difficult to integrate. Depsite heterogeneity, the unity of overall purpose within a common application domain, nevertheless, provides a degree of semantic similarity that manifests itself in the form of similar data structures and common usage patterns of existing information systems. This article introduces a conceptual integration approach that exploits the similarity in metalevel information in existing systems and performs metadata mining on database ob.ects to discover a set of concepts that serve as a domain abstraction and provide a conceptual layer aboveexisting legacy systems. This conceptual layer is further utilized by an information reengineering framework that customizes and packages information to reflect the unique needs of different user groups within the application domain. The architecture of the information reengineering framework is based on an ob.ect-oriented model that represents the discovered concepts as customized application ob.ects for each distinct user group.

Proper coverage of service area in a cellular network largely depends on initial cell planning. The cell planning technique includes a lot of tasks such as nominal cell plan, coverage and interference predictions, field survey, system selection, system growth, etc. However, this paper includes only a theoretical model of cell site positioning, so that any irregular area can be covered with a combination of omni & sector cells most efficiently This model will be useful at thebeginning of network planning in any urban/suburban/rural area.

It is sometimes necessary to remove the captions from video images already broadcast and recover the original images. Traditional research on image restoration has focused on restoring blurred images to sharp images using frequency filtering. This paper proposes a method for extracting caption regions and a method for automatically recovering original. The caption region detection method extracts caption candidate regions using TF (topographic feature) of characters, and verifies candidate regions to determine the final caption regions. From the result of caption region detection, we know the start and end frames of captions in video and the character areas in the caption regions. For original image recovery, we use information such as the start and end frames of the detected caption, camera operation, scene change and motion vector of extracted characters in caption regions. The direction for the recovery is decided using information on the scene change, the start and end frame for captions. According to the direction, we recover the original image using information of camera operation and block Matching Algorithm (bMA) for character components in extracted caption region. experimental results show that the case of stationary images having little motions is well recovered. We see that the case of images having motion in complex background is also recovered.

Gaussian process (GP) prediction suffers from 0(n3) scaling with the data set size n. by using a finite-dimensional basis to approximate the GP predictor, the computational complexity can be reduced. We derive optimal finite-dimensional predictors under a number of assumptions, and show the superiority of these predictors over the Projected bayes Regression method (which is asymptotically optimal). We also show how to calculate the minimal model size for a given n. The calculations arebacked up by numerical experiments.

Our method takes a polygonal model as input but yields a curved model described by triangular bézier patches as output. The proposed method solves the sampling prob.em of free-form deformation.
