Microbial electrolysis cells (MeCs) are a new bio-electrochemical method for converting organic matter to hydrogen gas (H-2). Palm oil mill effluent (POMe) is hazardous wastewater that is mostly formed during the crude oil extraction process in the palm oil industry. In the present study, POMe was used in the MeC system for hydrogen generation as a feasib.e treatment technology. To enhance biohydrogen generation from POMe in the MeC, an empirical model was generated using response surface methodology (RSM). A central composite design (CCD) was utilized to perform twenty experimental runs of MeC given three important variab.es, namely incubation temperature, initial pH, and influent dilution rate. experimental results from CCD showed that an average value of 1.16 m(3) H-2/m(3) d for maximum hydrogen production rate (HPR) was produced. A second-order polynomial model was adjusted to the experimental results from CCD. The regression model showed that the quadratic term of all variab.es tested had a highly significant effect (P < 0.01) on maximum HPR as a defined response. The analysis of the empirical model revealed that the optimal conditions for maximum HPR were incubation temperature, initial pH, and influent dilution rate of 30.23 ?, 6.63, and 50.71%, respectively. Generated regression model predicted a maximum HPR of 1.1659 m(3) H-2/m(3) d could be generated under optimum conditions. Confirmation experimentation was conducted in the optimal conditions determined. experimental results of the validation test showed that a maximum HPR of 1.1747 m(3) H-2/m(3) d was produced. This paper studies incentive-based peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading between sellers and buyers in a smart grid distributed system. When designing an energy trading model the main goal is to maximize the social welfare of the involved parties. Peer-to-peer energy trading is a novel mechanism of power system operation which allows users to generate and trade renewab.e energy. buyers are considered to be consumers and sellers are considered to be prosumers (producers and consumers of energy) with respect to time. buyers are more motivated to purchase energy from the seller since the energy was generated from a green source and is typically cheaper than the main grid. Furthermore, by producing clean energy and distributing within small networks, the transmission line stress is mitigated since the overall demand required from the main grid is reduced. In this paper, we model the interaction as single-sided auction taking into consideration the grid infrastructure constraints (e.g capacity) and cost while maximizing the profit of the players. We assess through theoretical analysis and simulations the bidding properties including individually rational, truthful, computationally efficient, and fairness. © 2020 Ieee.

Mobile is a rapidly growing web.environment that attracts malware developers around the world. Smart phones, especially android phones are widely used and are the most popular new target for malware attacks. Most common type of malware found to attack android users was an unauthorized app repackaged as a normal app through a third party, unofficial app store. New apps found in the app store are hard to identify as malicious. Our work develops a malware detector and analyzer. This paper also links insights about malware attacks in COVID-19 on mobile devices. To meet the ob.ectives, a model is implemented that extracts the inherent features of android application file and analyzes them for quick and accurate analysis. The model classifies the apps more accurately as benign or malicious. © 2020 Ieee.

The paper investigates the dynamic behavior and stability of vibrations of a complexly coupled mechanical oscillator that moves on an endlessly long continuous beam-foundation system. The beam-foundation system comprises three parts. The system can become unstab.e due to the elastic waves, which are generated by the moving of the complex discrete oscillator. The varying stiffness of the primary suspension and its asymmetricity present the novelty in the model which is deeply analyzed. The study is complemented with parametric analysis. Mathematical description of the present model that represents the complex moving oscillator system contains involved expressions, to handle them the D-decomposition method and the argument principle which are used. Here, the model that represents the complex moving oscillator has two rows of suspension—the primary and the secondary suspension. The bogies’ supports are composed of wheels with primary suspension elements. The intervals of instability are determined for varying stiffness moduli of the primary suspension, the emphasis is put on the case with a nontraditional suspension (asymmetric—stiffness moduli of the primary suspension elements have diverse values among each other) that poses local stability benefits. © 2023, The Authors. Training convolutional neural networks (CNNs) with back-propagation (bP) is time-consuming and resource-intensive particularly in view of the need to visit the dataset multiple times. In contrast, analytic learning attempts to obtain the weights in one epoch. However, existing attempts to analytic learning considered only the multilayer perceptron (MLP). In this article, we propose an analytic convolutional neural network learning (ACnnL). Theoretically we show that ACnnL builds a closed-form solution similar to its MLP counterpart, but differs in their regularization constraints. Consequently, we are ab.e to answer to a certain extent why CNNs usually generalize better than MLPs from the implicit regularization point of view. The ACnnL is validated by conducting classification tasks on several benchmark datasets. It is encouraging that the ACnnL trains CNNs in a significantly fast manner with reasonably close prediction accuracies to those using bP. Moreover, our experiments disclose a unique advantage of ACnnL under the small-sample scenario when training data are scarce or expensive. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Considered to be Canada's groundb.eaking technological achievement in the field of robotics and its greatest contribution to space, Canadarm and Canadarm2 have made their mark on both the Canadian and international scene. As the upcoming Canadarm3 reaches the culmination of its design phase for the Lunar Gateway, an opportunity to review the evolution of this robotic technology over its combined 53 years of service arises. Furthermore, the practical impacts of each Canadarm generation will be explored, regarding the safe and sustainab.e use of space, the commercialization of the space industry, and technological progress in the medical field, in nuclear power plant robotics and in remote explosives disarming robots. This paper will embark on a comprehensive literature review, complemented by interviews conducted with key contributors to the Canadarms' missions as well as Canadian astronauts. This methodological approach aims to provide an accurate outline of the technical, operational, and collaborative complexities that have underpinned the development and deployment of this technology. by comparing the technical specifications of each Canadarm generation in the context of their respective space program, namely Space Shuttle, ISS and Gateway, technological advancements will be highlighted from an engineering and operations standpoint. The conducted interviews with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and MacDonald Dettwiler And Associates (MDA) will also help illustrate the obstacles faced throughout the implementation of these programs. Foreseeing the next step in Canada's role in space exploration, this study will also examine Canadarm3's upcoming crucial contribution in missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. Investors' biggest prob.em is determining the appropriate stock price by studying financial information, which is a difficult process due to enormous and related inefficiencies. So, among the biggest challenges for investors is identifying a stock. Currently, it's very challenging to carry out research in the forecasts for the finance industry, including the stock market, currency value, and stock price. Due to its critical importance in financial consumers' decision-making, the prediction and examination of the stock price is yet another important research sub.ect. A novel Xgboost Integrated bichannel Long/Short-Term Memory (X-bLSTM) technique is implemented in this article to provide a sophisticated and perfect framework for the share market's price prediction The share value dataset is the first thing we collect to assess the way the suggested X-bLSTM strategy performs. Due to the existence of noisy data, min-max normalization is performed to preprocess the raw dataset. The efficiency of the proposed approach is assessed using several measures, and comparative between the proposed and current methods is also provided. The studies' findings show that the recommended approach outperforms alternative techniques for share value prediction.

An auditory-visual speech benefit, the benefit that visual speech cues bring to auditory speech perception, is experienced from early on in infancy and continues to be experienced to an increasing degree with age. While there is both behavioural and neurophysiological evidence for children and adults, only behavioural evidence exists for infants - as no neurophysiological study has provided a comprehensive examination of the auditory visual speech benefit in infants. It is also surprising that most studies on auditory-visual speech benefit do not concurrently report looking behaviour especially since the auditory-visual speech benefit rests on the assumption that listeners attend to a speaker's talking face and that there are meaningful individual differences in looking behaviour. To address these gaps, we simultaneously recorded electroencephalographic (eeG) and eye-tracking data of 5-month-olds, 4-year-olds and adults as they were presented with a speaker in auditory-only (AO), visual only (VO), and auditory-visual (AV) modes. Cortical tracking analyses that involved forward encoding models of the speech envelope revealed that there was an auditory-visual speech benefit [i.e., AV > ( A + V )], evident in 5-month-olds and adults but not 4-year-olds. examination of cortical tracking accuracy in relation to looking behaviour, showed that infants' relative attention to the speaker's mouth (vs. eyes) was positively correlated with cortical tracking accuracy of VO speech, whereas adults' attention to the display overall was negatively correlated with cortical tracking accuracy of VO speech. This study provides the first neurophysiological evidence of auditory-visual speech benefit in infants and our results suggest ways in which current models of speech processing can be fine-tuned.

Second harmonic generation microscopy (SHG) is a powerful imaging modality which has found applications in investigating both biological and synthetic nanostructures. Like all optical microscopy techniques, the resolution of SHG is limited to approximately half the wavelength of the excitation light. because of this several groups have proposed techniques to enab.e super-resolution SHG imaging. However, these techniques often involve quite complicated optical setups compared to standard SHG microscopes, a major impediment towards more widespread utilization. Here we apply super-resolution radial fluctuations (SRRF), a commonly used technique for super-resolution fluorescence imaging, to enab.e super-resolution SHG microscopy. by imaging individual nanostructures, we demonstrate that SRRF can provide resolution enhancement of up to 3× compared to a laser scanning SHG microscope, which is comparab.e to the best resolution enhancement reported in the literature. Additionally, we show that SRRF maintains the polarization dependence of SHG, therefore enabling super-resolution polarization SHG imaging. Finally, we perform SRRF processing on third harmonic generation images to demonstrate the significant potential of SRRF for other super-resolution nonlinear optical microscopy. Importantly, since SRRF can achieve super-resolution purely through image processing, the technique demonstrated here could be used to enhance the resolution of images obtained using a wide variety of nonlinear optical microscopy setups including both laser scanning and widefield configurations. The agility of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have b.en recently harnessed in developing potential solutions that provide seamless coverage for vehicles in areas with poor cellular infrastructure. In this letter, multiple UAVs are deployed to provide the needed cellular coverage to vehicles traveling with random speeds over a given highway segment. This letter minimizes the number of deployed UAVs and optimizes their trajectories to offer prevalent communication coverage to all vehicles crossing the highway segment while saving energy consumption of the UAVs. Due to varying traffic conditions on the highway, a reinforcement learning approach is utilized to govern the number of needed UAVs and their trajectories to serve the existing and newly arriving vehicles. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design and show that during the mission time, a minimum number of UAVs adapt their velocities in order to cover the vehicles. © 2019 Ieee.
