Recently, with issues such as global warming, melting of glaciers and climate change, the need for sustainable methods of living has seen a drastic increase. Combustion cars that run on petrol and diesel are slowly being replaced with electrical vehicles (EVs). Currently, EVs face challenges in terms of range of kilometers offered, availability of charging systems, infrastructure for their development, etc. As the need for electrical vehicles increase, the usages of Permanent magnet Synchronous motor (PmSm) too have seen a growing trend. motor control in an electrical vehicle is extremely crucial as a vehicle on road is subject to different terrains and hence, different loads. Throughout all these different scenarios, it is essential that the motor operates at its optimum efficiency in order to provide optimum vehicle performance for the driver and passengers. Currently, several methods are available for the control of electrical vehicles, nevertheless the field-oriented control (FOC) method for permanent magnet motors is widely used due to its efficient nature. This paper discusses with the design of modified FOC control algorithm for control the PmSm motor eliminates an initial jerk seen during the starting condition of a motor thereby providing a smoother start. As the entire simulation is done using Hardware in the Loop model, the values obtained have real life constraints taken into account, as opposed to a software only simulation. moreover, the transient time taken to reach a steady state value in speed and to also change direction of rotation have been improved as well. The simulation has been designed entirely on the Altair Embed software. © 2022

Influence of Drainage blanket on the Sustenance of an Earthen Dam with a Cracked Central Core

The occurrence of cracks in earthen dams, due to hydraulic fracturing or differential settlement, can have serious consequences and might even lead to its collapse. Soil filters and drainage blankets are necessarily provided in earthen dams for safeguarding the stability of the dam against seepage-induced flow through the dam body. Generally, in a zoned earthen dam, the drainage blanket is applied between the impervious central core and the downstream shell. This study reports the benevolent role of a drainage blanket in case there is an incidental cracking in the core of a zoned earthen dam. As both horizontal toe and inclined chimney blankets are used in earthen dams;the study encompasses both the types of drainage blankets. Finite element-based ‘Coupled Stress/PWP’ analysis is implemented to find out the response of the dam with and without the drainage blankets. The phreatic surface, seepage velocities and hydraulic gradients are monitored for different cases. It is concluded that the presence of drainage blankets do not necessarily reduce the possibility of core cracking through hydraulic fracturing. However, it necessarily controls the movement of water inside the dam body if the core has incidentally cracked, and continues to channelize the water toward the exit drain of the dam toward the heel of downstream face, thereby maintaining its long-term performance until proper rectification measures are not adopted. © 2021, The Institution of Engineers (India).

The concept of Virtual Power Plant (VPP) has become an attractive solution to optimize the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid. However, the operation and transaction system of VPPs still face several challenges, such as the lack of transparency, security, and efficiency. In this learning, we propose a new operation and transaction system built on blockchain technology for VPPs. The proposed system contains of two layers, the blockchain layer and the application layer. The blockchain layer is responsible for ensuring the security and transparency of transactions, while the application layer provides an interface for VPP operators and users. We implemented the proposed system using Ethereum, one of the most popular blockchain platforms. We also conducted a case study to evaluate the routine of the proposed system in terms of transaction throughput, latency, and scalability. The outcomes show that the proposed system can handle a large quantity of transactions with low latency and high scalability. Our study demonstrates the possible of blockchain technology to enhance the operation and transaction system of VPPs, which can contribute to the integration of renewable energy bases into the grid. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The main purpose of this research work is to manage the workflow in a cloud environment by utilising the manufacturing Sector (mFS) model along with the integration of a Deep Learning technique known as the Long Short Term memory (LSTm) algorithm. The LSTm helps to utilize a cloud computing environment to regulate the forecast of future workloads and to supply the resources that are required to consistently maintain a balanced workflow. The input data collection rates collected by robotics devices serve as the foundation for all projections. The data that is input is either stored or processed by virtual machines, which are located in a cloud environment. It is possible that the robotics devices that were utilised in the testing were the same or different. When compared to other deep learning and mFS schedulers, the results of the simulation demonstrate that the mFS-LSTm model is significantly more effective than anything else. The findings indicate that the mFS-LSTm is capable of achieving superior processing capabilities while simultaneously spending less energy and reacting to tasks in a more expedient manner. © 2024 IEEE.

A large number of reported road collisions are caused by driver inattention,and inappropriate driving *** study investigated the effectiveness and acceptance of Advanced Driving Assistance Systems(ADAS)for driver age groups,gender,occupation(professional/non-professional),and road type(expressway,urban roads,and semi-urban road)based on the Field Operational Test(FOT).The ADAS is provided with assistance features,such as Lane Departure Warning(LDW),Forward Collision Warning(FCW),and Traffic Speed Recognition Warning(TSRW).In total,the FOT involved 30 participants who drove the test vehicle twice(once in the stealth phase and once in the active phase).The FOT included three sections:expressway(20.60 km),urban road(7.2 km),and semi-urban road(13.35 km).A questionnaire was used to determine user acceptance of the ADAS *** addition,parametric and non-parametric statistical tests were carried out to determine ADAS's significant *** FOT results showed statistically significant differences in the LDW’s acceptance and effectiveness for gender,age group,occupation,and road type before and after exposure to *** participants showed significant lateral behavior improvement compared to female ***-aged drivers scored the highest acceptance score for the technology compared to middle and young-aged *** subjective ratings ranked the assistance features in descending order as TSRW,LDW,and *** study’s findings can support policy development and induce trust in the public for the technology adoption to improve road traffic safety.

The temperature dependences of the electrical resistance of the solid solution of bi88.08mn11.92 in the temperature range of 2–300 K and magnetic fields up to 90 kOe for both H ⊥ I and H || I are studied. It has been shown that in a magnetic field, the temperature dependences of the electrical resistance of bi88.08mn11.92 show maxima (insulator–metal transition) for both the H ⊥ I and H || I orientations. The temperatures of the maxima increase with increasing field. The appearance of a noticeable difference between the temperature dependences of the electrical resistances of bi88.08mn11.92 and the compound bi95.69mn3.69Fe0.62 with a lower mn content and pure bi is discussed. It has been established that the magnetoresistance of bi88.08mn11.92 is positive over the entire temperature range studied and reaches a value of 3290% in a magnetic field of 90 kOe for H ⊥ I, which is approximately 400% higher than in the bi95.69mn3.69Fe0.62 compound with lower mn content. A suggestion has been made that the peculiarities temperature dependences behavior of the electrical resistance of bi88.08mn11.92 without a magnetic field and in the field, are largely due to the influence of internal magnetism of the α-b.mn phase and can be explained within the framework of the multiband theory. © A. Removal of methylene blue dye from contaminated wastewater using lignocellulosic biomasses: A comparative study

In this study, lupine seed (Lu-SP) and pumpkin seed shells (PSSP) biomasses were used to create alternative and effective adsorbents. methylene blue (mb) dye was removed from wastewater using the as-prepared adsorbents at variables solution pH 2.0 –11.0, contact period (0–180 min), and adsorbent mass (0.2–2.0 g/L). The solution pH had a synergistic effect on the improved removal of mb and the optimal adsorption removal for both adsorbents occurred at pH 8.0 and 120 min. The adsorption isotherm modelling results showed a good fit with the Langmuir model, with a maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of 48.98 and 77.48 mg/g for PSSP and Lu-SP, respectively. Similarly, the pseudo-first-order (PFO) model is regarded as the best-fit kinetic model for both adsorbents and suggests the predominance of physisorption via interfacial diffusion. mechanistic investigation of the present system suggests that both intraparticle diffusion and surface sorption mechanisms control the adsorption rate. Notably, the Lu-SP with a lower surface area (54.013 m²/g) outperformed the PSSP (235.992 m²/g) in terms of adsorption capacity under varying pH. Therefore, in addition to electrostatic interaction, adsorption into the micropores via volume filling is considered one of the adsorption mechanisms. This study, therefore, revealed that the PSSP and Lu-SP may be very helpful for removing cationic mb dye from contaminated wastewater. © 2024 The Authors

Stock price movements are determined by several factors such as demand and supply, political stability, company earnings, and foreign portfolio investments. These factors are reflected in stock price, and the market becomes volatile. most of the studies related to stock price classification are considered limited technical indicators. However, there are more than 100 technical indicators are available. Therefore in this paper, we explored 35 technical indicators. We have considered the recursive feature elimination (RFE) feature selection method to find relevant technical indicators. Final selected feature by the RFE method are given input to a random forest classifier to classify the stock price movements. We have considered Infosys and Reliance stock for the experiments. We found the 0.90 Area Under Curve (AUC) for Infosys stock and the 0.93 AUC for Reliance stock. The experimental results using random forest outperformed compared to Artificial Neural Network (ANN) method. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
