Currently, Indonesia and the whole world are being hit by the Covid-19 pandemic which has an impact on various fields of life. It affects all sectors, including the education sector. The government through the Ministry of Education and Culture makes a policy in education in terms of the learning process. Teaching and learning activities that were initially carried out face to face become distance learning which was carried out at home. In this study, a systematic literature review is conducted on automatic assessment of essay answers. Various previous studies discuss the essay answer scoring system that has been developed using various methods. We synthesize the results to enrich our understanding of the automated essay exam scoring system. The expected result of this research is that it can contribute to further research related to the automated essay exam scoring system, especially in terms of considering methods and dataset forms. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. The use of the Internet of Things (IoT) has been widely adopted for a lot of purposes. Business process automation is one type of implementation that has been carried out. In addition, the data successfully captured by the IoT ecosystem can be utilized for various computer modeling needs, including the decision model construction in assessing room quality. The decision model itself is a computer model supporting the decision maker in decision making process. This research, via four simple research stages, aims to develop an IoT-based decision model to evaluate room quality based on two parameters: temperature and humidity. The design of the IoT environment and the implementation of temperature and humidity data readings in a room are used as input data for a decision model to assess the comfort level of the room. In this study, the primary method used to design the model is object-oriented, while fuzzy logic is employed to build the model. The developed decision model can simulate data captured from the designed IoT ecosystem, successfully assessing the comfort level of a room. From the simulation results using 18 data points (from 9 days of data capturing) captured by temperature and humidity sensors, the average comfort level of the room was found to be 19.7873. © 2024 IEEE.

The concept of object-oriented (OO) serves is a fundamental approach in the development of models. The stages associated with this method contribute significantly to ensuring that the resulting model is both lucid and transparent. The primary objective of the study is to create a decision model for evaluating student performance. Floating fuzzy logic (FFL) is employed as a technique to handle fluctuating data within the model. Moreover, OO conception plays a central role in analyzing, designing, and constructing the model through the utilization of four distinct types of Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams: object, activity, state-machine, and sequence diagrams. The model itself is crafted using the Python programming language and executed in the Google Colab platform. Additionally, this model has the capability to simulate changes in students' performance on a semester-by -semester basis, exhibiting a variance of 15 % when compared to the conventional fuzzy logic model.

- An online learning system is a learning approach that typically uses a one fit for all approach in which all student abilities are considered the same so that the provision of learning materials provided is the same for all students. In contrast, a personalization learning system is a teaching and learning approach in which students are positioned as the learning centers and the students are motivated and facilitated to overcome their learning needs based on their learning speed and understanding of the learning process carried out to achieve. In the context of learning, learning materials and learning objectives are the main components that are interrelated in achieving the expected learning outcomes. However, the relationship between learning materials, especially in prerequisite courses, must have similarities so that the learning process can continue in accordance with the learning outcomes to be achieved. This paper presents an experiment results of the proposed the recommendation system modeling for personalization learning model implemented using Content-Based Collaborative Filtering model. In the proposed recommender system model, similarities between the learning materials and the description of the course being are computed as basis for developing recommended learning materials to students. The recommendation system modeling for personalized learning is applied as a solution to achieve learning goals and minimize dropouts due to the inability of students to understand the learning process in online learning systems. The results given in the research are modeling of an adaptive learning personalization recommendation system to provide recommendations for students who do not reach the minimum competency standards. © 2022 IEEE.

A lot of research on task-oriented chatbots has been carried out to improve research on intent recognition. However, there are not many studies that discuss out-of-scope. This study introduces the use of threshold for classification results. The use of threshold improves recall performance of OOS detection above baseline for BiLSTM but reduces recall inside scope for all models. Directly applying multiclass classification with combined class of inside scope and out of scope also showed higher recall than baseline. © 2022 IEEE.

Exploring EfficientNet Variants for Image Encoding in Auxiliary Signal Guided Knowledge Encoder-Decoder Framework

The growing number of medical images has led to radiologist burnout, which seriously impacts the radiologist's performance. To address the previously mentioned issue, an Auxiliary Signal Guided Knowledge (ASGK) multimodal encoder-decoder framework was designed to automatically generate the medical report based on the proposed medical graph and natural language decoder. It utilizes DenseNet-121 as the image encoder. With DenseNet-121 lack of computational and memory efficiency, this study aims to explore the potential of EfficientNetB0 to EfficientNetB4 as an ASGK image encoder substitute. The framework is trained with IU X-Ray dataset for 30 epochs, with Adam optimizer, a learning rate of 0.01 with 0.8 decay rate, binary cross entropy loss for the medical tags, and cross-entropy loss for the generated medical captions. During the framework training process with each image encoder, the parameter that achieves the highest CIDEr score on the validation set is considered the best image encoder parameter and will be used on the test set. On the test set, EfficientNetB3 as an ASGK image encoder has been shown to increase the CIDEr score to 0.35, a significant increase from the 0.28 CIDEr score obtained by the ASGK using DenseNet-121. This score is only a 1% decrease from the best validation score. It suggests that not only EfficientNetB3 increases the framework's performance, it is also less prone to overfitting. This study has demonstrated that EfficientNetB3 is a potential image encoder substitute for DenseNet-121 in the ASGK framework.

A wide variety of disciplines contribute to bioinformatics research, including computer science, biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics. This study determines the number of research articles published on arXiv classified as bioinformatics topics and the most frequently used bioinformatics terms using topic modeling, Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA). An algorithm based on LDA is used to discover topics hidden within large collections of documents through the use of statistical analysis. Our research examined 226453 articles on arXiv between January 2023 and January 2024. As a result, there are more than 10521 articles categorized into bioinformatics topics. Most commonly, 6352 documents are in the "Mathematical Physics" category. The second most popular category is "computer science," with 2950 documents. Accordingly, the terms 'RNA,' 'sequence,' 'tree,' and 'homology' are the three most commonly used terms in bioinformatics. The study of RNA plays a vital role in molecular biology; thus, the study of RNA is prevalent in bioinformatics. Sequential data refer to the order in which nucleotides or amino acids can be found in a DNA molecule or a protein.

Modern retail businesses face a significant challenge with the inefficiency of manually changing price labels on shelves. This manual process not only consumes valuable time and resources but also increases the likelihood of errors, leading to potential inaccuracies in pricing and a less streamlined shopping experience for customers. The proposed solution is the implementation of an Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) system that automatically displays the prices of goods on retail business shelves. This system connects a website (front end and back end) to e-paper via a Wi-Fi network and microcontroller, allowing retail business owners to update prices more easily. Additionally, buyers can search for desired items through the website. The results are the time to send data from the website to the e-paper, namely, to know the performance of the e-paper used. The average time required from 10 attempts to send data from the website to the e-paper is 20.935 seconds. Since the data is connected to the server and will be updated automatically, using this system will be more efficient than manually changing the price label, although it takes time to transfer data from the website to the e-paper.

Semi-automated meningioma segmentation with bounding boxes

Segmentation is manually performed by physicians, which takes considerable time and may be subject to observers. Automating this task can increase efficiency and consistency. Existing studies on meningioma segmentation used data from limited study centers, indicating the need for research on multi-center data to assess generalizability. In this work, two semi-automated methods with bounding box priors, LiteMedSAM and BBU-Net, are evaluated on the brain tumor segmentation (BraTS) 2023 meningioma dataset collected from five study-centers. Preprocessing included exclusion of small tumors, z-score normalization, and extraction of slices that contain tumors, generating 25,602 2D axial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. A fine-tuning strategy is adopted for LiteMedSAM while BBU-Net is trained from scratch. The models are evaluated using a five-fold cross-validation, with data split at the case level. Results show that while U-Net models can achieve performance close to LiteMedSAM, the foundation model has overall better performance, with more than 90% in all evaluation scores.

Negation handling is often overlooked in Indonesian sentiment analysis, making it difficult to automatically and accurately determine the polarity of sentences containing negation words. Negation is a challenging issue in natural language processing, as it can drastically alter the meaning of a sentence. For example, common Indonesian negation words such as “tidak” (no/not), “belum” (not yet), or “jangan” (do not) can reverse the sentiment polarity in a text. Previous studies have proposed rule-based approaches, relying on linguistic rules or dependency parse trees to handle negation. However, negation is a complex problem that cannot be effectively addressed by simple rules alone, as they often lack flexibility in handling diverse sentence structures and negation complexities. Therefore, a more dynamic approach is needed, such as combining a dependency parser with an embedding layer, which can map syntactic relationships between words and learn vector representations of negation. This allows the model to flexibly determine the scope of negation words, enabling more accurate sentiment analysis even in complex sentences. This study evaluates the impact of negation handling on a transformer-based model, specifically XLNet, in Indonesian sentiment analysis. Using the proposed method, the model's F1 score increased by 2.13%, from 71.42% to 73.55%, compared to the baseline model. This demonstrates that the proposed negation handling strategy enhances sentiment prediction accuracy, making the model more effective at handling texts with negation.
