The COVID-19 pandemic has led to significant outbreaks in more than 220 countries worldwide, profoundly impacting the public health and lives. As of February 2024, over 774 million cases have been reported, with more than 7,035,337 deaths recorded. Therefore, there is a significant need for automated image segmentation to serve as clinical decision support. This paper presents a novel automated segmentation framework that dynamically generates distinct and randomized image patches for training using preprocessing techniques and extensive data augmentation. The proposed architecture employs a semantic segmentation approach, ensuring accuracy despite limited data availability. Experimental assessment comprises a visual inspection of the predicted segmentation outcomes. Quantitative evaluation of segmentation includes standards performance metrics such as precision, recall, Dice score, and Intersection over Union (IoU). The results exhibit a remarkable Dice coefficient score of 98.3% and an IoU rate surpassing 96.8%, demonstrating the model's robustness in identifying COVID-19-infected lung regions. © 2024 IEEE.

The emergence of financial technology (FinTech) has transformed the financial sector, introducing a new era characterized by state-of-the-art technologies that enhance speed, affordability, and accessibility. The proliferation of the internet and smartphones has further accelerated this transformation, fostering greater connectivity and global interaction. Subsequently, these advancements have significantly expanded financial inclusion, ensuring access to financial services for previously under-served populations. While the rise of FinTech has propelled financial inclusion for many, individuals with disabilities have not experienced commensurate improvements in their financial accessibility. As the banking sector increasingly migrates to online platforms, people with disabilities encounter barriers stemming from inaccessible websites, mobile applications, and online banking services. This paper introduces a specialized UPI payment application designed explicitly for individuals with disabilities. The objective is to integrate this underserved demographic into the digital financial landscape, fostering financial inclusion and enhancing access to essential financial services. © 2024 IEEE.

Peer-to-peer (P2P) lending in the Financial Technology (FinTech) sector is increasingly gaining attention from people where the online platform enables lenders to offer loans to borrowers. The platform as a much needed mechanism targets to reduce the risk of default and increase profitability for lenders and the platform. Each loan record maintains a variety of attributes, including details about the loan, the borrower, their credit history, their finances, and public data. If all the features are considered, the performance of the lending platform may decline. Finding the necessary characteristics more helpful in forecasting loan default is a concern. This paper investigates essential features of the P2P lending mechanism with adequate performance in lending money to individuals or businesses. We employ two algorithms to find the pertinent features: Boruta and Max-Relevance and Min-Redundancy (mRMR). Further, we use two classifiers-decision tree and XGBoost that exercise the selected elements to predict the loan defaults. © 2023 IEEE.

Microservices have been making waves among forward-Thinking application development organizations. In the realm of software development, software architecture holds paramount importance because it serves as a guiding force to shape the entire life cycle of a software system. Software architecture is a foundation for complex digital components built upon a software system. Within this domain, two prevalent paradigms, monolithic and service-oriented architecture (SOA), stand distinct. While monolithic simplifies development using its integrated structure, SOA reduces complexity through modular services. However, both paradigms suffer severe scalability, development cycle, and flexibility challenges. Subsequently, microservice architecture as a modern paradigm emerges to overcome these challenges. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of the paradigm shift from monolithic to microservice architecture. It begins with exploring the monolithic and SOA conceptual landscape and their pros and cons. After that, we delve into the microservice platform, including its basic architecture and implementation stages. Furthermore, we provide the trend of the paradigm shift that highlights the recent developments in the field and identifies the research challenges associated with it. Thus, the paper brings multiple research dimensions for the researchers and lets the software and application development teams improve resilience and expedite their time to market. © 2023 IEEE.

Plasma dynamics is the behavior exhibited by two or more charged species with respect to electric or magnetic fields. In high-performance computing (HPC) applications, it requires all these factors: the accuracy of parallel implementations, effective inter-process communication, and scalability with respect to workload. This paper points out the limitations in the current approaches to the plasma dynamics problems, and discusses the use of MPI continuation tasks and of its performance enhancement with OpenMP methods. Within the framework of the Vlasov-Poisson system, we develop theory of MPI continuation and describe techniques optimal for its use, which allows to efficiently combine communication with computation, which is quite a difficult task in most of the cases, especially in the case of multidimensional simulations. The results allow better insights on how to increase the level of parallelism and reduce the time to compute, which in turn fosters the formulation of more effective high-performance strategies and also the understanding of the parallelism in plasma simulations using the MPI standard. © 2024 IEEE.

The exponential growth of big data has led to the widespread adoption of Hadoop clusters for storing and processing large volumes of data. With the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, novel and inventive approaches for addressing complex problems are coming to the forefront. Neuromorphic computing based on AI technologies stands as an exemplar, endeavoring to mimic the human brain's intricate neural architecture and computational principles within electronic devices. Contrary to conventional Von Neumann architecture, neuromorphic computing architecture offers a promising solution for building intelligent and efficient computational systems that excel in tasks requiring low power consumption, real-time processing, and adaptability. Subsequently, it is employed in various applications such as robotics, sensory processing, neuromorphic vision, edge computing, etc. This paper explores the conventional Von Neumann architecture and outlines its shortcomings. Next, neuromorphic architecture as an alternative and its evolution are described. Next, the characteristics of neuromorphic computing and its diverse applications are illustrated. The paper also addresses the key challenges hindering neuromorphic computing development. © 2024 IEEE.

With rapid technological advancement, cyber-physical systems (CPS) become an emerging era of engineered systems based on computing, networking, and control technologies that revolutionize human lives. New and smart CPS drives innovation and competition in industrial automation, transportation, healthcare applications, etc. Therefore, it is essential to explore the area. The paper presents the emergence of CPS. It includes CPS's evolution, its necessity, and its importance. Then, we explore the diverse applications of CPS in a smart society. Next, we explore various challenges and recent state-of-the-art to overcome these challenges. CPS connects strongly to the currently prevalent terms Internet of Things, the Industrial Internet, Industry 4.0, and Internet of Everything. All of these illustrate a technology that fundamentally connects the physical and digital worlds. CPS is more foundational and durable than all of these.
