Identifying IoT devices is crucial for network monitoring, security enforcement, and inventory tracking. However, most existing identification methods rely on deep packet inspection, which raises privacy concerns and adds computational complexity. More importantly, existing works overlook the impact of wireless channel dynamics on the accuracy of layer-2 features, thereby limiting their effectiveness in real-world scenarios. In this work, we define and use the latency of specific probe-response packet exchanges, referred to as"device latency," as the main feature for device identification. Additionally, we reveal the critical impact of wireless channel dynamics on the accuracy of device identification based on device latency. Specifically, this work introduces"accumulation score" as a novel approach to capturing fine-grained channel dynamics and their impact on device latency when training machine learning models. We implement the proposed methods and measure the accuracy and overhead of device identification in real-world scenarios. The results confirm that by incorporating the accumulation score for balanced data collection and training machine learning algorithms, we achieve an F1 score of over 97% for device identification, even amidst wireless channel dynamics, a significant improvement over the 75% F1 score achieved by disregarding the impact of channel dynamics on data collection and device latency. Social networks are widely recognized as highly effective information sources for social recommendation services. However, previous social recommendation methods assumed that a user's preference factor and social trust factor shared a common latent feature space. Additionally, few studies have explored the incorporation of social information into the item domain for recommendations. To address these gaps, we propose ExpoEv, a deep collaborative filtering recommendation model that integrates social exposure based on feature evolution for social recommendation services. Specifically, we propose a social exposure module for both user and item domains that considers the number of items that a user's social friends interact with. Furthermore, we introduce a feature evolution component that enables the incorporation of social exposure information with social trust and attribute factors in the context of social recommendation services. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our model in the quality of recommendation service. © 2023 IEEE.

BACKGROUND Depression,non-suicidal self-injury(NSSI),and suicide attempts(SA)often co-occur during adolescence and are associated with long-term adverse health ***,neural mechanisms underlying self-injury and SA are poorly understood in depressed adolescents but likely relate to the structural abnormalities in brain *** To investigate structural network communication within large-scale brain networks in adolescents with *** We constructed five distinct network communication models to evaluate structural network efficiency at the whole-brain level in adolescents with *** magnetic resonance imaging data were acquired from 32 healthy controls and 85 depressed adolescents,including 17 depressed adolescents without SA or NSSI(major depressive disorder group),27 depressed adolescents with NSSI but no SA(NSSI group),and 41 depressed adolescents with SA and NSSI(NSSI+SA group).RESULTS Significant differences in structural network communication were observed across the four groups,involving spatially widespread brain regions,particularly encompassing cortico-cortical connections(e.g.,dorsal posterior cingulate gyrus and the right ventral posterior cingulate gyrus;connections based on precentral gyrus)and cortico-subcortical circuits(e.g.,the nucleus accumbens-frontal circuit).In addition,we examined whether compromised communication efficiency was linked to clinical symptoms in the depressed *** observed significant correlations between network communication efficiencies and clinical scale scores derived from depressed adolescents with NSSI and *** This study provides evidence of structural network communication differences in depressed adolescents with NSSI and SA,highlighting impaired neuroanatomical communication efficiency as a potential contributor to their *** findings offer new insights into the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the comorbidity of NSSI and SA in adolescen

The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) has become a significant issue in designing smart cities. Many applications and services are provided in IoV for various purposes. They need the resources for the computation and data collection. One of the open issues in IoV is resource management because of resource limitation, resource heterogeneity, and dynamic networks. To our knowledge, no systematic and thorough research in resource management methodologies was conducted in IoV, despite the critical nature of resource management challenges. This paper analyzes the recently published studies on resource management in IoV. Our analysis shows that resource allocation has the most utilization rate of resource management approaches at 30%. The most critical parameter in resource allocation is cost, which includes energy, time, price, and processing capacity. The analytical reports show those cost parameters have the most evaluation in the approaches by 19%. Furthermore, we propose a taxonomy for resource management in IoV and extract challenges and open issues in this field. Nonlinear optical activities,especially second harmonic generation(SHG),are key phenomena in inversion-symmetrybroken two-dimensional(2D)transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs).On the other hand,anisotropic nonlinear optical processes are important for unique applications in nano-nonlinear photonic devices with polarization functions,having become one of focused research topics in the field of nonlinear ***,the strong nonlinearity and strong optical anisotropy do not exist simultaneously in common 2D ***,we demonstrate strong secondorder and third-order susceptibilities of 64 pm/V and 6.2×10^(-19)m^(2)/V^(2),respectively,in the even-layer PdPSe,which has not been discovered in other common TMDCs(e.g.,MoS2).Strikingly,it also simultaneously exhibited strong SHG anisotropy with an anisotropic ratio of~45,which is the largest reported among all 2D materials to date,to the best of our *** addition,the SHG anisotropy ratio can be harnessed from 0.12 to 45(375 times)by varying the excitation wavelength due to the dispersion ofχ^(2)*** an illustrative example,we further demonstrate polarized SHG imaging for potential applications in crystal orientation identification and polarization-dependent spatial *** findings in 2D PdPSe are promising for nonlinear nanophotonic and optoelectronic applications.

The main purpose of an Energy Management System (EMS) is to determine the hourly energy dispatch of the microgrid and the main utility grid. An optimization algorithm is needed in order to minimize the cost of operating the distributed generations in a microgrid. This paper is focused on developing an EMS model that can determine the hourly optimal operating strategies of each distributed generation in the microgrid system with regard to energy cost minimization, system constraints, and better utilization of renewable energy resources through daily load demand. The proposed system utilized Particle Swarm Optimization. Its effectiveness was demonstrated using a full-day load demand profile of a grid -connected microgrid as the case study. © 2022 IEEE.

As companies continue to expand, more people have to be managed within a workplace. Along with this comes energy consumption that is increasingly becoming difficult to manage. To solve these issues, this study aims to create a system for employee monitoring and energy optimization. The researchers propose a system that can gather information from occupants and automate smart devices depending on their location. This research primarily seeks to serve as a foundation in creating a flexible, energy-efficient, and scalable system that can be innovated easily. The resulting output is expected to control Internet of Things (IoT) devices based on occupancy data obtained from Bluetooth localization. A system using Bluetooth to retrieve occupancy data was integrated with OpenHAB as the platform to connect and automate IoT devices. The proposed architecture of the system includes Bluetooth localization, IoT automation, and the system interface. This implementation used Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons sending location data to an ESP32 mesh network, increasing the scalability. The Raspberry Pi server parsed and analyzed the data using Node-RED. The data was then fed to OpenHAB to connect to the IoT devices. After the system was developed, three measurements were used to assess the system, namely location difference, response time, and status accuracy. This study proved the potential and validity of the integration of a Bluetooth positioning system with IoT automation. © 2022 IEEE.

With the recent increase in the use of bicycles and motorcycles as a main mode of transportation in the Philippines, there is also an increasing need to address the extremely high rate of fatalities and injuries from these vehicles. Previous research shows that these road crashes are usually attributed to driving behavior and human error. While other researches have already explored road safety education (RSE) apps to help drivers practice safe driving, most of these are tailored for 4-wheeled vehicle drivers and do not reflect the driving environment for motorcycle and bicycle drivers in Metro Manila. Most of the more fully-featured training apps are also only limited to either PC or mobile only. To address these limitations, this research aims to design and develop Metrocycle - a browser-based RSE driving application for motorcycle and bicycle users. Metrocycle seeks to effectively engage and accurately inform motorcycle and bicycle users of proper driving behavior and standard road safety practices specific to Metro Manila. The application will be designed through reviewing government published RSE guidelines, addressing limitations of current RSE applications and consultation with motorcycle and bicycle safety domain experts in the Philippines. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Liver Disease (LD) is the main cause of death worldwide, affecting a large number of people. A variety of factors affect the liver, resulting in this disease. The diagnosis of this condition is both expensive and time-consuming. Machine Learning offers a lot of potential in terms of automated disease diagnosis. As a result, the purpose of this research is to assess the efficacy of various Machine Learning (ML) algorithms to lower the high cost of liver disease diagnosis through prediction. With the current rise in numerous liver disorders, it's more important than ever to detect liver disease early on. This research proposed intelligent model to predict liver disease using machine learning technique. This proposed model is more effective and comprehensive in terms of performance of 0.884 accuracy, and 0.116 miss-rate. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper studies safety and feasibility guarantees for systems with tight control bounds. It has been shown that stabilizing an affine control system while optimizing a quadratic cost and satisfying state and control constraints can be mapped to a sequence of Quadratic Programs (QPs) using Control Barrier Functions (CBF) and Control Lyapunov Functions (CLF). One of the main challenges in this method is that the QP could easily become infeasible under safety constraints of high relative degree, especially under tight control bounds. Recent work focused on deriving sufficient conditions for guaranteeing feasibility. The existing results are case-dependent. In this paper, we consider the general case. We define a feasibility constraint and propose a new type of CBF to enforce it. Our method guarantees the feasibility of the above mentioned QPs, while satisfying safety requirements. We demonstrate the proposed method on an Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) problem for a heterogeneous platoon with tight control bounds, and compare our method to existing CBFCLF approaches. The results show that our proposed approach can generate gradually transitioned control (without abrupt changes) with guaranteed feasibility and safety.
