Box 3511 Station C Ottawa Ontario Canada K1Y 4H7 Peter Ashton received the Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Manitoba in 1987. He received a Master of Science degree from the same institution in 1989. Upon graduation he joined Bell-Northern Research where he studied the performance aspects of broadband networks including SONET frame relay and ATM systems. In 1994 he formed a new group to spearhead the investigation of performance requirements for BISDN services. Marek Wernik is Senior Manager Broadband Systems and Services in BNR Ottawa Canada. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Warsaw Technical University Poland in 1973 and 1978 respectively. Dr. Wernik worked as assistant professor at Warsaw Technical University and at Oran University of Technology Algeria conducting research in the fields of digital signal processing and radio communications measurement systems. In 1984 he joined BNR Advanced Technology group where he took part in the exploratory work on photonic and broadband switching and fibre network planning. Since then he has been working on various aspects of broadband networks and ATM systems. Between 1988 and 1990 he was a manager responsible for analysis and evaluation of traffic management and performance of ATM networks. As Senior Manager Dr. Wernik is currently responsible for broadband network design and planning in BNR's Systems Engineering Division. His responsibilities include in particular definition of management and control for ATM networks work with telecommunications carriers to identify requirements and plan deployment of broadband services and networks broadband product planning support and ATM Forum technical representation. Dr. Wernik is a Member of the IEEE Communications Society and has been actively involved in co-operation with Canadian universities supporting research in the field of broadband communications.

作者: KATZ, RS JAHNKE, L JEWETT, CE Cdr. Larry Jahnke USN:is presently Head of the Architecture Branch of the Avionics Engineering division AIR-546 of the Naval Air Systems Command. Among his current responsibilities is to lead implementation activities of the NAVAIR Advanced Avionics Architecture study described in this paper. Cdr. Jahnke graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. degree in aeronautical engineering and was commissioned in 1974. After flight training as a Naval flight officer he was assigned to Naval Air Station Barbers Point Hawaii where he served as Tactical Coordinator for P-3B aircraft. He was assigned to the Communications Directorate of the Joint Staff in 1990 where he participated in support of Desert Shield/Desert Storm and was part of the original cadre of officers responsible for the “C41 for the Warrior” concept. Cdr. Jahnke also has a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California and is a 1990 graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Cdr. Charles E. Jewett USN:is currently the Common Avionics Requirements Officer for Naval Aircraft Programs. He has served the Navy as an Aeronautical Engineering Duty Officer since 1982 with previous defense acquisition assignments as the Avionics Architecture and Engineering Branch Head Fighter/Attack Avionics systems Engineering Branch Head and A-12 Avionics Officer and A-6F Deputy Program Manager and the A-6 Avionics Officer. Cdr. Jewett entered the Navy as an Aviation Officer Candidate in 1971 receiving his commission and earning his wings as a Naval Flight Officer the same year. After graduating from the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School in 1976 he was assigned to the Strike Aircraft Test Directorate of the Naval Air Test Center where he participated in various electronic warfare electro-optics and software update evaluations for A-6 EA-6B and OV-10 aircraft. His research interests are in microwave measurements numerical electromagnetics and signal processing. Biographies and photos are not available for M. Manela and R. K. Lade. Tapan K. Sarkar (Sf69-M'76-SM'X1) was born in Calcutta. India on August 2 1948. He received the BTech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur India in 1969 the MScE degree from the University of New Brunswick Fredericton Canada in 1971. and the MS and PhD degrees from Syracuse University. Syracuse NY in 1975. From 1975-1976 he was with the TACO Division of the General Instruments Corporation. He was with the Rochester Institute of Technology (Rochester NY) from 1976-1985. He was a Research Fellow at the Gordon Mckay Laboratory Harvard University Cambridge MA from 1977 to 1978. He is now a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Syracuse University. His current research interests deal with numerical solutions of operator equations arising in electromagnetics and signal processing with application to system design. He obtained one of the “ best solution” awards in May 1977 at the Rome Air Development Center (RADC) Spectral Estimation Workshop. He joined the Naval Applied Science Laboratory in 1961 where he served as project engineer for ship inertial navigation systems (SINS) and related equipments. Since 1967 he has been employed by the Naval Sea Systems Command initially as Navigation and Interior Communications Programs Manager in the Research Directorate and currently as Director Combat Systems Engineering Research and Technology Office in the Combat Systems Directorate. He has been responsible for the development of the Shipboard Data Multiplex System (SDMS) the Electrically Suspended Gyro Navigator (ESGN) the Doppler Sonar Velocity Log (DSVL) and directs other technology programs in the area of command and control and related command support functions. He has directed programs to evaluate foreign data bus and distributed processor technology for potential application to U.S. requirements and is active in a number of U.S. government and foreign government information exchange programs. He has authored numerous technical papers and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers American Society of Naval Engineers and the Institute of Navigation. Richard A. Fastring:graduated from Tulane University with a B.S.E.E. and did graduate work in systems engineering and operations research at the University of Pennsylvania. He joined RCA's surface communications systems engineering staff in 1959 where he contributed to a number of Navy and Air Force communication system programs. Since 1971 he has been with SEMCOR Inc. where he has been involved with the Navy's Shipboard Data Multiplex System (SDMS) and related data transfer programs.
