作者: LIBERATORE, DJ BAsKERVILLE, JE LCdr. Donald J. Liberatore USN: began his career in the U.S. Navy in 1965. He has had many diverse assignments involving surface ships and submarines during the past seventeen years. During his tour at Naval Shipyard Portsmouth (N.H.) he was Assistant Design Superintendent and responsible for the introduction of Heat Recoverable Coupling technology into the shipyard. Presently he is assigned to the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in the Sonar Dome Office. Prior assignments within NAVSEA have been as Assistant Ship Systems Design Manager for the SSNX and FA-SSN preliminary designs in the Submarine Propulsion Analysis Branch in the Submarine Hydrodynamics Branch and in the Gear Coupling and Clutch Branch. He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University in 1971 and in 1977 graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with his M.S. degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and his Professional degree of Ocean Engineer. A member of ASNE since 1975 LCdr. Liberatore also is a member of IEEE SNAME the Naval Institute and Sigma Xi. Cdr. James E. Baskerville USN: is presently assigned to NAVSEA as the Ship Manager for the DDG 51 the Navy's next generation surface combatant. In a previous tour at Naval Shipyard Pearl Harbor he was the Navy's Program Manager for Heat Recoverable Coupling introduction in ship repair and maintenance. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1969 he is a qualified Surface Warfare Officer and a designated Engineering Duty Officer (ED). He received his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and his Professional degree of Ocean Engineer from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and also holds a patent right on an Electronic Control and Response System. His naval assignments have included tours in the USS Ramey (FFG-2) as Aide and Flag Lieutenant to the Commander Naval Electronic Systems Command and as Ship Superintendent Surface Type Desk Officer and Assistant Design Superintendent at Naval Shipyard Pearl Harbor. General Electric Company Daytona Beach Fla. he currently is responsible for the costing. planning performance scheduling and timely completion of the Department's Technical Manuals and Technical Training Programs. These Training and Manual contracts cover Ship Systems Programs. Simulation Programs. and Communications Programs for the Armed Services and commercial customers. Mr. Hall has over twenty-years experience as a Technical Writer and Instructor and for the past seventeen years has been at the General Electric Company's Daytona Beach Facility. His experience ranges from teaching Basic Electronics and Radar Circuitry as a civilian instructor for the U.S. Army to writing Manuals Proposals Reports Specifications and Brochures for General Electric's product lines. Mr. Donald G. MOSS is a graduate of Kansas State University from which he received both his B.S. degree in Business Administration and his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. He is presently a Senior Systems Engineer for Control Systems in the Simulation and Control Systems Department at the General Electric Company's Daytona Beach Facility. He has been employed by General Electric for 23 years — the first seven as an Engineer and Program Manager on the Fire Control Systems for the Fleet Ballistics Missile Program the next six managing the design of control and checkout equipment on the APOLLO Program and the last ten years working on control equipment for the machinery plants of new Navy ships. Ryan graduated from Frostburg State College and has performed graduate studies in Technology of Management at American University and University of Southern California. He is presently Executive Director of the Surface Missile Systems Sub-Group in the Naval Sea Systems Command. He was previously Deputy Project Manager of the MK-92 FCS/MK-75 Gun Project Deputy Systems Engineering Manager in the AEGIS Project and Surface Missile Systems Branch Head in the Naval Ordnance Systems Command. His earlier experience with the Department of the Navy included the Engineering Interface Management Office in the Bureau of Ships the Foreign Ship Systems Engineering Office and Switching Systems Design Office at RCA Service Company and he served for four years in the U.S. Navy as an Electronic Technician Petty Officer. In addition to ASNE he is a member of the Association of Scientists and Engineers and is the Executive Director (NAVSEA) for the 1978-79 term. In addition to several outstanding performance awards and citations for achievement Mr. Ryan received the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award for exceptional contribution to the development of the AEGIS Weapon System. Mr. Jack Berlin received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the City College of New York and his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. He spent eight years in the Radar and Microwave Electronics Section of the Naval Material Laboratory. Subsequently. he has had extensive experience in Radar and Fire Control Systems. This has included responsibility for the design and field evaluation of the GFCS MK 87 Radar. From 1972 to 1973 he was the Sperry Program Manager for the Fire Control System (FCS) MK 92. His current assignment is Assistant Manager for New Developments of Missile and Gun Fire Control Systems for the U.S. Navy. He is a member of the Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu Honorary Societies.

作者: MARCUCILLI, T.J. HENDRICKsON, M.L. Mr. Theodore J. Marcucilli received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from New York University in 1954. He joined the then Bureau of Ships in the Internal Combustion Engines Branch later to be merged with the Gas Turbine Branch. He progressed through positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of RDT&E Acoustics Shock and Vibration and by June 1962 was in charge of the Machinery Division's efforts in support of Project SEAHAWK an advanced design ASW destroyer. In September 1963 he was designated as Project Manager for the Pressure Fired Boiler Program for seventeen DE's (1040 C1 DEG-1 C1 and AGDE-1). This assignment was the first known application of the Project Management concept in the Bureau of Ships. In June 1966 he was placed in charge of the Plans Policies and Procedures Branch in the Naval Ship Engineering Center and was responsible for the formulation and implementation of Acquisition Management policy and procedures. The following November he was appointed Branch Head for Propulsion Electrical and Auxiliaries Systems in the LHA Project (PMS 377) and has remained with the project from the pre-concept formulation phase through the current building period in the development and production phase. Mr. Marshall L. Hendrickson received his Bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Maryland and is presently enrolled in a Master's program in Government Procurement and Contract Administration at George Washington University. He has been involved in Navy Project Management Administration since January of 1963. Prior to that he had extensive Fleet experience as a Field Serivce Engineer for the Philco Corporation. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 1960 and was then commissioned in the U.S. Navy serving as Engineering Officer in the USS Braine (DD-630). Upon completion of his active duty assignments he entered industry as a Development Engineer and became involved with marine application of gas turbine and fluid power systems. In 1966 he assumed full responsibility for the installation design and equipment acceptance tests of the gas turbine generator/waste-heat boiler system for the DDH-280 Class Destroyer including all associated controls ducting and silencing equipment. In 1970 he became Manager of the DD-963 Auxiliary Power “Trade-Off” Study which resulted in significant modification to the electric steam and compressed air systems. A registered Professional Mechanical Engineer in the State of California and the holder of several patents he is presently enrolled in the Masters Program at George Washington University in Engineering Administration. He is a member of ASNE and SNAME and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Head of the Mechanical Systems Department Washington D. C. Office of George G. Sharp Inc. He received his BS degree in Engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles. His career started in the design and development of turbomachinery for commercial and marine applications with the Douglas Aircraft Co. He subsequently was employed by the Southern California Edison Co. and later the Turbo-Power and Marine Department of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in development of power systems for marine and electrical generation applications. Richard Gauthey USN graduated from Cornell University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree and entered the U.S. Navy through the NROTC program. Following three tours of sea duty he attended the University of California at Berkeley where he earned his Master of Science degree. From 1963 to 1965 he was Project Officer for Aircraft Carriers and Amphibious Ships in the Design Division BUSHIPS. The succeeding three years he was Assistant Repair Superintendent for Surface Ships at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. After attending the Naval War College he was Maintenance Officer COMINELANT Staff prior to his present assignment as Director Ship Research and Technology Division NAVSHIPS where he has been since 1971. He is a member of both ASNE and SNAME. Joseph P. DeTolla a native of Philadelphia Pa. received his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University in 1969. He began his career with the U.S. Navy in 1965 as a Mechanical Engineering Trainee in the Philidelphia Naval Shipyard Design Division under the BUSHIPS Cooperative Education Training Program. In 1911 he joined NAVSEC as a Mechanical Engineer in the Fluid Systems Branch. For the past two years he has primarily been involved in conducting alternative auxiliary heating system “tradeoff” studies and in the design of total energy/waste heat recovery systems for the PF 109 Class Sea Control Ship DG/AEGIS and AO 177 Class. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the District of Columbia a member of ASE ASME and SNAME and a candidate for the Master of Engineering Administration degree at The George Washington University.

USN (RET) served as an enlisted man aboard USS SPROSTON (DD 577) and other Destroyer Forces Atlantic Fleet ships prior to his entrance into the U.S. Naval Academy in 1944. After graduating in 1948 he served on PHIBPAC ships until 1951 when he entered Webb Institute of Naval Architecture. He graduated from Webb with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Naval Architecture in 1953. He has served as Planning and Design Officer for the Supervisor of Shipbuilding in Jacksonville Florida was Assistant Material Officer on the Staff Commander Mine Forces U.S. Pacific Fleet and as Docking Officer and Ship Superintendent Long Beach Naval Shipyard. He then served in the Engineering Department of the USS RANDOLPH (CVS 15) after which he reported to the Bureau of Ships where he worked as Aircraft Carrier Project Officer in the Contract Design Division. He was Industrial Officer at the David Taylor Model Basin prior to assuming duties as Fleet Maintenance Officer Staff Commander in Chief U.S. Naval Forces Europe. Prior to retiring on 1 January 1969 he served as Repair Officer U.S. Naval Support Activity Saigon. Since retirement he has been Manager of System Engineering and Senior Member of the Technical Staff for the LHA Program at Litton's Advanced Marine Technology Group and is currently Manager Engineering Design with HARCO Engineering the design division of Harbor Boat Building Company Terminal Island California.

He began his career with the Bureau of Ships as a Naval Architect in the Hull Design Training Program in September 1952. Kinney has served as a Project Coordinator in the Machinery Systems Division and is currently Head of the Environmental Pollution Control Branch at the Naval Ship Engineering Center. He is a member of several committees including the Department of Defense Environmental Pollution Control Committee and the Interagency Committee on Vessel Pollution Standards. Alexander Constant graduated from Pennsylvania Military College in June 1960 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. After two years with the U.S. Forest Services working as a Civil Sanitary Engineer designing recreational facilities Constant joined the Vermont Water Resources Department as a Project Engineer. For the past five years he has been associated with the Naval Ship Engineering Center Piping System Branch responsible for design and development of systems and equipment to abate and control shipboard generated waste. He was subsequently employed at General Dynamics/Electric Boat Division Groton Connecticut where he held positions in their Planning Department as a planning engineer for FBM Submarine Construction and in the Mechanical Division as a design engineer. Motherway went to the Naval Ship Engineering Center Washington D. C. in March of 1966 with the Submarine Hydraulics Section of the Hull Design Branch where he participated in the design of submarine hydraulic systems. He later transferred to the Ocean Engineering Section of the Deck Systems Branch where he participated in design related to deep submergence vehicles and ocean salvage and retrieval systems. During this period at NavSEC he received his Master Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Catholic University of America Washington D. C. From April 1970 to May 1971 he was with the Undersea Long-Range Missile System (ULMS) Submarine Design Development Office in the capacity of Assistant Subsystem Design Director. Currently he is the Senior Project Engineer for the ULMS program at the office of the Supervisor of Shipbuilding Conversion and Repair Groton Connecticut. He is a member of ASNE and ASE. S. R. Heller Jr. a retired Engineering Duty Officer of the United States Navy received his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and in Mathematics.
