Infertile patients may be a high-risk group of mental disorder. The precise identification of the mental status of infertile patients can provide decision support to healthcare professionals and may be helpful in providing preventive measures accordingly. Rare studies focused on the mental status identification using artificial intelligence (AI) models for infertile people. This study aimed to precisely identify the mental status (anxiety and depression) of infertile patients using three AI models, the XGBoost, decision tree, and stacking models. The dataset, retrieved from a structured questionnaire survey in 2011, which included 400 infertility outpatients seeking reproductive treatments at three teaching hospitals in Taiwan was adopted for training and testing AI models. Aforementioned AI models were designed and reached identification performances of accuracy, precision, recall and area under ROC curve (AUC) equaling 0.75–0.82, 0.70–0.80, 0.64–0.72, and 0.64–0.72, respectively. The XGBoost model (accuracy = 0.82, precision = 0.80, recall = 0.72, and AUC = 0.72) outperformed or equaled the decision tree and stacking models in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and AUC values. Designed AI models for mental status identification can be integrated into the clinical decision support system (CDSS) to provide the anxiety and depression group automatically. Accordingly, the worsening of infertility-related anxiety and depression can be prevented. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Exploring bus drivers' intentions to collaborate with level 4 autonomous buses: Integrating the technology acceptance model and assemblage theory

As AI proliferates, human-AI collaboration has become necessary in many domains, not least in public transportation, where highly automated, if not fully driverless buses, require human-AI cooperation. However, existing technology acceptance models lack insight into the unique factors that influence acceptance in collaborative human-AI contexts. This study integrates the technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with Assemblage Theory to provide a comprehensive framework that does explicate key mechanisms underlying bus drivers' behavioral intentions toward Level 4 autonomous buses. Drawing upon Assemblage Theory, we conceptualize the driver and the autonomous bus as a human-machine collaborative assemblage. Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use from TAM are modeled as antecedents, with compatibility and trust from Assemblage Theory as mediators, predicting attitude and behavioral intention. The theoretical model is examined using structural equation modeling on data collected from 719 bus drivers of four major transit companies in Taipei. Results robustly support all hypotheses, with perceived usefulness exhibiting stronger positive effects on trust and compatibility than perceived ease of use. Trust and compatibility positively influenced attitude, which strongly predicted behavioral intention to cooperate with Level 4 autonomous bus introduction. The empirical findings show TAM is enriched by the integration of Assemblage Theory concepts, extending both theories' ability to facilitate autonomous mobility human-AI collaboration. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

W, W-15 at-%Al, W-30 at-%Al and W-45 at-%Al coatings were synthesised by using a reactive four-target DC closed field unbalanced magnetron-sputtering ion plating system. Structure, morphology, composition, hardness and adhesion were studied by using an X-ray diffractometer, an energy dispersive spectrometer, a scanning electron microscope, a scanning transmission electron microscope and nanohardness and scratching testers. Wear performance was evaluated by using a pin-on-disk wear tester. The sputtering deposition of this binary system led to the formation of single-layer W-Al coatings as a result of complete dissolution of the Al atoms into the W lattice during the depositing process. The W-15 at-%Al coating showed improved wear resistance as compared with the W coating. © 2014 W. S. Maney & Son Ltd.

Parts working under extreme conditions are in need of surface coatings to achieve better performance and longer service life. NiCrBSi alloys have been a good choice against wear combined with corrosion at high temperature but need further improvements. In this work, a series of NiCrBSi-WC(Co) coatings with WC(Co) content from 0 wt-% to as high as 80 wt-% were prepared using a high velocity oxy-fuel spraying process. The influences of the WC(Co) content on the wear behaviour of the metal matrix composite coatings were studied using an SRV reciprocating sliding wear system. The relationship of the wear mechanism and the WC(Co) content was discussed, and an optimal WC(Co) content was proposed according to the study results. © 2014 W. S. Maney & Son Ltd.

The elderly population in cities worldwide is experiencing significant growth each year, primarily due to advancements in medical technology and increased life expectancy. Consequently, the health of the elderly has become a paramount concern. To lead healthy and fulfilling lives, the elderly must engage in more active lifestyles. However, many activities that promote well-being, such as fishing, golfing, or hiking, may be restricted due to dangerous outdoor environments that pose a risk to their safety. This presents a critical challenge that needs to be addressed. To tackle this issue, our research combines two cutting-edge technologies, namely virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI), to develop an adaptive VR game specifically designed for elderly individuals seeking to enhance their overall health. VR, as an innovative electronic device, offers an immersive experience that allows users to engage with 3D 360-degree environments through VR glasses, providing a lifelike sensation. By leveraging the highly interactive nature of VR, users can partake in various movements and activities to effectively promote their health without encountering any physical risks. Furthermore, we have incorporated AI into the game to provide real-time guidance to users and dynamically adjust the game content as needed. This AI integration enables personalized advice based on the user's current situation, allowing the game to adapt to their specific health promotion goals. Through AI's analytical capabilities, the game content can be continuously optimized to better align with the user's objectives and ensure an engaging and effective experience. By combining VR and AI, our research aims to create a safe and immersive virtual environment for elderly individuals, enabling them to actively participate in activities that contribute to their well-being. A series of W-Al nanolayer coatings were deposited with varying content of aluminum from 0 at.% to 65 at.% by a unbalanced magnetron (UBM) sputtering system. The as-deposited coatings were investigated first. Then, the coatings were oxidized aiming to study their oxidation behavior. SEM, TEM, XRD, GDOS and nano-hardness tester were used. The results showed that the Al content had a significant effect on the performance of W-Al coatings. The hardness of as-deposited and oxidized coatings decreased with increasing Al content. The pure W coating was heavily oxidized. As the Al content increased, the oxidation decreased fast and then remained stable as the Al content was higher than 45at.%. The effects of formed oxides on hardness were discussed. © 2015 Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Treatment of pressure ulcers (PU) is essentially image dependent, because its surface provides relevant visual information for medical procedures. There is an increasing interest to adapt Information technology advances for a more effective medical image processing. Artificial Intelligence concerned techniques, say Image Mining, can be very helpful to manage large amount of PU images in order to increase productivity of health professionals and patients life quality. In the current internet of things era, various devices can provide more services by connecting to the Internet. However, the explosive growth of connected devices will cause cloud core overload and significant network delays. To overcome these overload and delay problems, the mobile edge computing (MEC) network is proposed to provide most of the computing and storage near the radio access network to reduce the traffic of the core cloud network and provide lower latency for the terminal. Mobile edge computing can work with third parties to develop multiple services, such as mobile big data analysis and context-aware services. However, while using the service, it may also encounter a large amount of popular data being accessed in a short period of time. Without proper handling of replica generation and deployment, even in low-latency environments, it can still kill the benefits of MEC due to increased access time. Although many scholars have proposed related issues for copy replication, there are *** that can be improved. To avoid the situation of insufficient availability of replicas, replica replication is performed, but infinite replicas may lead to a significant increase in traffic and waste of resources. And when deploying replicas, it is necessary to avoid placing them on congested nodes and consider how to achieve better load balancing. To improve the above problems, we synthesize the advantages of previous algorithms, make up for the shortcomings, and propose an adaptive replica configuration mechanism to predict the popularity of files and replicate replicas to low-blocking nodes. In a clicks-and-mortar smart contract system, the clicks-and-mortar application enables any transaction to automatically execute each operational step. I'm not a puppet, I'm a real boy! Gender presentations by virtual influencers and how they are received

Virtual influencers, or computer-generated virtual characters, have attracted numerous followers on social media like Instagram with their unconstrained physical bodies and persona profiles. Due to the characteristic of visibility and hyperconnectivity of social media, virtual influencers' public presentations can influence their followers and how they respond to virtual influencers and similar influencers as a collective phenomenon. Through a content analysis of 517 posts and 21,724 user comments from 17 of the most popular English-speaking human-like virtual influencers on Instagram, our study investigates how virtual influencers leverage the flexibility in presenting their affect, sexual display, virtual nature, and humanness (biological senses) and how their followers respond to these dimensions accordingly. We compared if female and male virtual influencers followed gender stereotypes in their self-presentations and if the followers responded accordingly. Our findings show that the most popular virtual influencers do not seem to leverage their flexible gender identity, but often present themselves according to gender stereotypes and receive corresponding comments based on their gender. Male virtual influencers are significantly more likely to "pass" as an actual human, while female virtual influencers are more likely to disclose their virtual nature. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd
