Dynamic weight-based connectivity recovery in wireless sensor and actor networks

Wireless sensors and actor networks (WSANs) have been widely used in various fields, from basic data collection to precise real-time control and monitoring, including battlefield monitoring, rescue, and exploration. The actor nodes in a WSAN play a key role in processing and transmitting data, and because of the harsh environmental conditions encountered, network node failures are prone to occur. The failure of an actor causes a loss of connectivity with its neighbor nodes, resulting in network splits and failure to deliver messages between nodes. Therefore, determining how to quickly and autonomously recover network connectivity while minimizing the moving distance of backup nodes and the number of relocated nodes is crucial. In this paper, we propose a dynamic weight-based connectivity recovery (DWCR) method to minimize the total moving distance of actor nodes, the number of relocated nodes, the total messages sent, and the coverage loss rate. The proposed DWCR method involves selecting a backup node for each critical node by dynamically adjusting the weight. If a critical node fails, the backup node starts to move to restore the connectivity of the failed node. The simulation results indicate that the proposed DWCR method outperforms the recovery through inward motion (RIM) method and other methods in terms of minimizing the total moving distance, the number of relocated nodes, and the total messages sent. However, because the RIM algorithm requires the relocation of more nodes during the network process, the DWCR algorithm is slightly inferior to the RIM algorithm in terms of coverage loss rate. Nevertheless, the DWCR algorithm still outperforms the distributed actor recovery algorithm and the distributed autonomous connectivity restoration method based on finite state machine algorithm. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

The elderly population in cities worldwide is experiencing significant growth each year, primarily due to advancements in medical technology and increased life expectancy. Consequently, the health of the elderly has become a paramount concern. To lead healthy and fulfilling lives, the elderly must engage in more active lifestyles. However, many activities that promote well-being, such as fishing, golfing, or hiking, may be restricted due to dangerous outdoor environments that pose a risk to their safety. This presents a critical challenge that needs to be addressed. To tackle this issue, our research combines two cutting-edge technologies, namely virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI), to develop an adaptive VR game specifically designed for elderly individuals seeking to enhance their overall health. VR, as an innovative electronic device, offers an immersive experience that allows users to engage with 3D 360-degree environments through VR glasses, providing a lifelike sensation. By leveraging the highly interactive nature of VR, users can partake in various movements and activities to effectively promote their health without encountering any physical risks. Furthermore, we have incorporated AI into the game to provide real-time guidance to users and dynamically adjust the game content as needed. This AI integration enables personalized advice based on the user's current situation, allowing the game to adapt to their specific health promotion goals. Through AI's analytical capabilities, the game content can be continuously optimized to better align with the user's objectives and ensure an engaging and effective experience. By combining VR and AI, our research aims to create a safe and immersive virtual environment for elderly individuals, enabling them to actively participate in activities that contribute to their well-being. The purpose of this study is to construct a model for best spike player selection in a top volleyball tournament of the world. Data is records of 2013 World Grand Prix that declared by Federation Internationale de Volleyball(FIVB). Simple Multiple-Attribute Rating Technique(SMART) to use for optimal decision-making model on best spike player selection. The research results showed that the best spike player ranking by SMART is different ranking by FIVB. The results demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed model.

In a recent issue of Ieee Engineering management Review, we explored the problem of building a winning business case and the elements that can differentiate an 'average' business case from a 'winning' one. With the economic development and the aging trend, the use of cosmetic products has expanded rapidly. In an ever-expanding skin care market, facial skin care product was the most popular product of skin care product. However, thousands of skin care products are available in the market. With endless options, shoppers are confronted confused and tired. Because everyone's skin condition is not the same, using unsuitable skin care products can damage the skin. Frequent problems with face skin are wrinkles, spots, acne vulgaris, pores, etc. The causes of facial lines, such as dryness, facial expressions, aging, etc., are cause different shades and different types of wrinkles. Therefore, it is very important to know your skin quality and use skin care products correctly. According to the application of different levels of image processing, it can be divided into image classification, positioning, object detection and object segmentation in the field of image vision. This paper will focus on the application of machine learning and deep learning algorithm development on human face and skin intelligence recommendation platform. That uses YOLOv4's novel object recognition algorithm to detect key features in face images, and intercept sub-images of regions of interest (ROI) as input information for multi-label models. Each sub-image detects the defective part through the YOLOv4 identifier of the second layer, and calculates the ratio of the pixel area of the local block to the main body to evaluate the correlation between feature parts and degree to establish a reference for the optimization of subsequent multi-label model. The skin condition classification uses the image processing algorithm to preprocess automatically remove, reduce noise, enhance, normalize and extract features to obtain the feature vectors of the sub-images for training the multi-label classification model. Chen, and X.Y. Wang presented their study 'Measurement of the interface characteristic based on ultrasonic longitudinal wave', which provided a lucrative alternative to conventional ultrasonic techniques, since it allows one to avoid the mutual superposition of reflected waves at the same thin coating interface. P. Wang and C.Y. Zhao presented their 'Study on reducing railway noise by porous concrete sound-absorbing panel', which is crucial for noise reduction near the railway lines. In the paper entitled 'Numerical study on the heat preservation of the ladle used for twin-roll strip casting', J.H. Dong, M. Chen and N. Wang developed a 3D mathematical model, in order to analyze the heat transfer and temperature drop on the ladle using the finite volume method.

Momentum investing and a tale of intraday and overnight returns: Evidence from Taiwan

The Taiwan stock market has been widely documented as a remarkable exception of the momentum effect. In this paper, we analyze whether the information contained in past intraday and overnight returns affects future stock returns in different ways. Specifically, we propose that investors tend to underreact to intraday information while overreact to overnight information. Accordingly, we construct two momentum strategies based on past intraday and overnight returns, namely the intraday momentum (IMOM) and overnight momentum (OMOM). We show that the IMOM strategy generates significantly positive returns while the OMOM strategy generates significantly negative returns, and that such phenomena exist up to one year. We further confirm that the IMOM profits are induced by investor underreaction while the OMOM reversals are due to investors' price correction of initial overreaction. Finally, we show that a major advantage of the IMOM strategy is that its profitability is stable over time and is less prone to the momentum crashes. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.

1E-commerce nowadays has made its official way into the clicks-and-mortar era. The advantage of a clicks-and-mortar model is that the "mortar" counterpart can enjoy logistics support, which complements any operational inadequacy on the side of the virtual website - the "clicks" counterpart. In a clicks-and-mortar smart contract system, the clicks-and-mortar application enables any transaction to automatically execute each operational step. When a consumer selects a product and completes the payment for it, the smart contract can proceed to execute any terms established in its contents, ensuring the proper practice of every item in the contract.

In the current era of the Internet of Things (IoT), various devices can provide more services by connecting to the Internet. However, the explosive growth of connected devices will cause the cloud core overload and significant network delays. To overcome these problems, the Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) network is proposed to provide most of the computing and storage near the radio access network to reduce the traffic of the core cloud network and provide lower latency for the terminal. Mobile edge computing can work with third parties to develop multiple services, such as mobile big data analysis and context-aware services. However, when there is a large amount of popular data accessed in a short period, the system must generate many replicas, which will not only reduce access efficiency but also cause additional traffic overhead. To improve the above problems, an Adaptive Replica Configuration Mechanism (ARCM) is proposed in this paper to predict the popularity of the file and make a replica to the low-blocking node. This method spreads the subsequent access workload by copying the popular file in advance to improve the overall performance of the system. © 2021, CC BY.

Both the timely manufacture of defense systems and their subsequent on-line operability depend upon the availability of component parts. The growing problem of microelectronic component nonavailability is casting a shadow over logistics support to these systems. This paper will discuss the causes of the problem and provide some examples of cases confronted by the DoD logistics community. It will also identify some actions which have been taken in the past to manage the issue as well as initiatives now underway. Finally it will look at what lies ahead.
