This paper proposes a fitness movement evaluation system using deep learning. The system uses a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) to extract features from pictures of fitness movements. The features are then used to classify the movements into different categories. The system is evaluated on a dataset of pictures of fitness movements. The results show that the system can accurately classify the movements into different categories. The system is designed to provide feedback to users on their fitness movements. The proposed system is a valuable tool for fitness enthusiasts. The main contribution of this paper is to propose a way to give users a score for their fitness movement. It can help users improve their fitness and track their progress over time. The system is also a valuable tool for fitness professionals. It can help professionals develop new fitness programs and provide feedback to their clients.

VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc Network) was developed to address the unique challenges of communication in a mobile vehicular environment. This technology can enhance driving safety and traffic control. Moreover, similar principles can be applied to unmanned aerial vehicles and robotics. When transmitting data in moving vehicles, it is challenging as access points and base stations keep changing, requiring handovers between different access points and base stations. Clustering is a popular approach used to address this challenge. Common clustering strategies are based on the proximity, communication range, the density, the application requirements of the moving vehicles, or hybrid of them. In this paper, we propose a clustering strategy based on the application sublayer in the vehicle communication protocol. If two computing devices on the move run the same application, they can be grouped together. The contribution of this research is to develop a clustering mechanism based on the application with very low overhead. We also validate the proposed method through simulations. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method is feasible.

Video Games are boring when they are too easy, and frustrating when they are too hard. In terms of providing game experience such as enjoyment to the player by match players with different levels of ability to player ability, We assume that implementing DDA for providing matches between player ability and overall game difficulty to the game, especially the modern game, has limitations in terms of increasing computational cost and complexities in the design of modeling the difficulty in modern games. To overcome limitations underlying the method of providing static difficulty changes to player, and DDA, we proposed a novel idea, "Player Domination adjustment (PDA)." The proposed idea is that to control the AI’s actions based on the player’s inputs so as to adjust the player’s dominant power (e.g. the AI recognizes the player’s attack actions but defends it in a wrong side to let the player incur damage to itself), which was proved as it leads to promotion of game-related self-efficacy in our work. Several pieces of research on were conducted on a social deduction game and a fighting game respectively, show our proposed idea has its potential of promoting User Experience(UX). As in an another study, outperforms DDA in two conducted experiments in terms of health promotion. PDA also suitable in many cases of promoting the health of the player by increasing health metrics of the player such as balancedness (Bal, a term of in use of body parts in body movement). The mechanism is AIs or the whole game environment that selects next actions of AIs/ changes based on player’s health metrics analyzed from his/her input action before such action is executed. With this mechanism we can stealthy encourage players performing the motions considering more healthy. All experimental results demonstrate that PDA is capable of entertaining player, besides, benefits to the design of serious game which uses for health promotion. As artificial intelligence advances, speech-emotion recognition (SER) has become a critical research area. Traditional SER methods typically rely on homogeneous domain data for training and testing. This practice requires adaptation when confronted with real-world data's heterogeneous linguistic, methodological, and speaker-related attributes. These variances can degrade the accuracy and generalization of SER models. To address this gap, we introduce a novel domain adaptation technique, multi domain emotion recognition enhancement (MDERE), which utilizes a non-negative matrix to reduce the inflexibility of the conventional binary label matrix for source domain data. This process yields a label matrix that better adapts to the nuances of the source labels while preserving their original structure. This framework refines SER methods by fine-tuning a transformation matrix for enhanced emotion discrimination. Elastic net regularization, which combines L1 and L2 penalties, enriches the transformation matrix, selectively emphasizing relevant features to enhance the robustness of emotion detection. The framework constructs customized similarity and dissimilarity graphs to reconcile the differences between source and target domains, enabling nuanced cross-domain data analysis. Extensive testing on multiple cross-domain SER tasks has shown that MDERE substantially improves recognition accuracy, surpassing several state-of-the-art algorithms. These results demonstrate MDERE's ability to effectively align domain variations enhances the generalizability of SER systems.

This study presents a novel approach to human keypoint detection in low-resolution thermal images using transfer learning techniques. We introduce the first application of the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test in thermal image computer vision, establishing a new paradigm for mobility assessment. Our method leverages a MobileNetV3-Small encoder and a ViTPose decoder, trained using a composite loss function that balances latent representation alignment and heatmap accuracy. The model was evaluated using the Object Keypoint Similarity (OKS) metric from the COCO Keypoint Detection Challenge. The proposed model achieves better performance with AP, AP50, and AP75 scores of 0.861, 0.942, and 0.887 respectively, outperforming traditional supervised learning approaches like Mask R-CNN and ViTPose-Base. Moreover, our model demonstrates superior computational efficiency in terms of parameter count and FLOPS. This research lays a solid foundation for future clinical applications of thermal imaging in mobility assessment and rehabilitation monitoring. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Essential components of early fire warning systems include effective fire and smoke detection mechanisms. Despite object detection-based technologies demonstrating promising results, the unique characteristics of fire and smoke, the complexity of fire environments, the scarcity of labeled datasets, and the presence of noise in images necessitate further improvements. We have developed a YOLOv7-tiny optimized architecture called the Dynamic Fire and Smoke Detection Module (DFDM) to address these challenges. Our approach includes an asymptotic feature pyramid network (AFPN) to bridge semantic gaps, thus enhancing fire detection capabilities in complex environments. A cross-level dual attention mechanism also refines critical smoke and fire detection features. To enhance performance while reducing model complexity, we introduced a novel partial convolution module designed to filter out extraneous information effectively. Experimental results demonstrate that DFDM provides robust fire and smoke detection capabilities, giving it a competitive advantage over more complex systems. Extensive visualization studies confirm DFDM's effectiveness in object recognition across varied settings. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A customer service chatbot enhanced with conversational language understanding and knowledge base is developed. Here, we explore LUIS and QnA Maker which are unified as Azure cognitive service for language. LUIS is a cloudbased conversational AI service that responds a user intelligence. QnA maker is a knowledge base for custom question answering. This question-and-answer knowledge base is especially useful for customer dialogs. Hence, by combining the services, we provide a smart response and provide a knowledge base to understand and improve the service. We implement this chatbot on the LINE Bot platform. Users easily access it by simply adding the representative of this chatbot on LINE. In addition, we put marketing information through this chatbot. The experiments are conducted, and the results show the chatbot is feasible and has a high user acceptance.

Investment is a lifetime work. Investing in stocks is a popular measure. However, investing in stocks is not easy, and losing money is not uncommon. We investigate if there is a systematic way to find buyable stocks and more importantly when to buy and sell them. Nowadays, with the progress of hardwarel, artificial intelligence (AI) has become a feasible solution to many issues. Machine learning and deep learning are two widely adopted methods in AI. In this study, we show how to apply machine learning to stock prediction and recommendation. After trials, we found that LightGBM shows its potential to predict and recommend stocks. We used the data of the Taiwan stock market to validate the method. We compared the prediction and recommendation with the wellknown Taiwan ETFs 0050 and 0056. The results show that the method is feasible, effective, efficient, and has better performance than Taiwan ETFs 0050 and 0056.

This study focuses on brain tumor detection and segmentation using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) with architectures of Fully Convolutional Net-work (FCN) and VGG16. The dataset imported for this study consists of brain MRI images, which were preprocessed to improve the overall image resolution. Data augmentation techniques were applied to heighten the variability and volume of the training data. For feature extraction, CNN models were utilized, specifically the VGG16 architectures. This model was trained on a preprocessed dataset to learn the important features associated with the presence of brain tumor. Image segmentation was performed to precisely outline and identify the tumor region within the brain images. FCN architecture was employed for this task, which allowed pixel-level classification of tumor regions. Finally, image classification was carried out to group brain images based on the absence or presence of a tumor. The trained models were evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall and F1score as the performance metrics. The results of the study demonstrated promising outcomes, achieving an accuracy score of 93% and a precision, recall and f1score ranging from 75% to 100% based on the specific type of tumor enlisted. This indicates that the developed CNN models, with the FCN and VGG16 architectures, effectively detect and segment brain tumors from MRI images. The findings of this study contribute to the field of medical image analysis and gives a foundation for further research and development in brain tumor diagnosis and treatment. The study recommends the use of more deep learning algorithms for the process of detecting brain tumors.

Most energy exchanges take place through the building skin. The skin characteristics play a decisive role in the extent of these exchanges, but they are somewhat more varied in the double skin façade (DSF). Among these characteristics, cavity segmentation has a noticeable effect on the implementation of the DSF in different directions during the hot and cold seasons. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of DSF segmentation in energy consumption and natural ventilation of high-rise buildings in hot and dry climates. This study used DesignBuilder software to study sixty-four segmentation component scenarios in an eight-story residential building in Isfahan, Iran. Moreover, a proposed hybrid model utilizing the hybridization of the Hunger Game Search and Gradient Boosting (HGS-GB) algorithm was employed to estimate energy consumption in various scenarios involving lighting, heating, cooling, and total scenarios. The available outcomes revealed that the HGS-GB model had a better performance in comparison with other individual models, such as Gradient Boosting (GB), Random Forest (RF), and K-nearest neighbors (KNN). The R2 values for lighting, heating, cooling, and total energy estimation were 0.9993, 0.9958, 0.9991, and 0.9922, respectively. The findings of this study suggest the significance of DSF segmentation in energy consumption and natural ventilation in high-rise buildings in hot and dry climates. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd
