The goal of this paper is to make a fully automatic bowling pinsetter with VEX IQ. We used motors, sensors and parts of VEX IQ to create a bowling mechanism that was originally operated by metal and pneumatic cylinders. In this paper, it is necessary to overcome the small hardness of plastic parts and the need for a stable bracket to support larger works. It is also necessary to overcome the horsepower output of the VEX IQ motor to drive each structure. And use the sensor setting position and programming to make up for the problem of the VEX IQ host being unable to connect to each other.

MoS2 is 2D material applicable for electronics, photo-detectors, light-emitting diodes, and solar cells. Since these applications operate at elevated temperatures, determining and controlling the environmental stability of MoS2 is essential. This study uses Raman spectroscopic experiments at elevated temperatures to observe reversible and irreversible changes in 2D MoS2 films with varying thickness, morphology, and substrate to explore the limits of its thermal stability. Molecular dynamics simulations and in-situ X-ray diffraction confirm that thermal expansion causes the Raman reversible spectral shifts. Further analysis reveals irreversible spectral shifts associated with oxidation and strain effects caused by oxidation with two distinct modes. The former is due to the general homogenous thinning of layers from the top layer down through randomly spaced sulfur vacancies. The latter is due to inhomogeneous oxidation, which known to occur as localized pitting at grain boundaries, void formation from nucleation centers, or stress corrosion cracking starting from edges under strain. Segregation of doping and strain contributions confirms higher strain in the edges. Annealing increases the spread of the strain distribution. These results highlight the critical role of strain, resulting from thermal expansion coefficient mismatch between substrates and 2D MoS2 films, on their environmental stability. © 2023 The Authors

Water pollution is a serious concern for developing and undeveloped countries. Photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants is an effective degradation method to restrain the green ecosystem. This research article presents a green, low-cost, and benevolent eco-friendly biosynthesis of cobalt oxide (Co3O4) nanoparticles using Curcuma longa plant extract. The UV and visible region absorbance of Co3O4 nanoparticles estimated the Co2+ and Co3+ transitions on the lattice oxygen, and their bandgap of 2.2 eV was confirmed from the UV-DRS spectroscopy. The cubic structure and spherical shape of Co3O4 nanoparticles were estimated by using XRD and TEM characterizations. Plant molecules aggregation and their agglomerations on the nanoparticles were established from FTIR and EDX spectroscopy. Multiple cobalt valences on the oxygen surfaces and their reaction, bonding, and binding energies were analyzed from XPS measurements. The biogenic Co3O4 nanoparticles were executed against gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus—S. aureus) and gram-negative (Escherichia coli—E. coli) bacteria. A gram-positive bacterial strain exhibited great resistivity on Co3O4 nanoparticles. Degradation of organic dye pollutants on the Co3O4 nanoparticles was performed against methylene blue (MB) dye under the conditions of visible light irradiation. Dye degradation efficiency pseudo-first-order kinetics on the pseudo-first-order kinetics denotes the rate of degradation over the MB dye. This research work achieved enhanced degradation potency against toxic organic dye and their radicals are excited from visible light irradiations. Absorption light and charged particle recombinations are reformed and provoked by the plant extract bio-molecules. In this process, there is no inferior yield development, and electrons are robustly stimulated. Furthermore, the biosynthesized Co3O4 nanoparticles determined the potency of bacterial susceptibility and catalytic efficacy over the industrial dye pollutants. © 202

Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria) laminated veneer lumber is an engineered wood product that uses multiple layers of thin sengon veneers assembled with adhesives. Made under controlled circumstances, this type of lumber is just as strong as conventional types of lumber commonly used as construction materials. Lumber has greater tensile strength than compressive strength. However, upon being put under a bending test, the fracture point happens to be on the tension area. It happens on the tension area suspected because of the displacement of the neutral axis from the cross-sectional weight axis. Therefore, this research was carried where a LVL sengon wood were imposed with a flexural load. The flexural test data from the strain gauge will be used in the calculation analysis by making a numerical simulation of the flexural stress-strain diagram and by applying the balance conditions of the forces worked on the beam. The numerical simulation of flexural stress-strain diagram will use the MATLAB program. From this calculation, the theoretical and experimenral neutral axis displacement will be obtained. From the laboratory test and the numerical simulation, the position of the experimental neutral axis tends to rise across the center of gravity of the beam as the load increases. While, in the theoretical calculation, the displacement of the neutral axis tends to go downward, but the neutral axis remains above the weight axis of the cross-section. The difference between the experimental and theoretical results is that several factors are not calculated in the theoretical calculation, for example, a shear force that occurs due to bending load, physical wood condition based on where it grows, the strength of wood fiber, etc. From the laboratory test and the running program that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the value of the stress-strain in the properties test can be used to predict the displacement of the neutral axis that happened in the bending test.

Deep convolutional neural network model for short-term electricity price forecasting

In the modern power market, electricity trading is an extremely competitive industry. More accurate price forecast is crucial to help electricity producers and traders make better decisions. In this paper, a novel method of convolutional neural network (CNN) is proposed to rapidly provide hourly forecasting in the energy market. To improve prediction accuracy, we divide the annual electricity price data into four categories by seasons and conduct training and forecasting for each category respectively. By comparing the proposed method with other existing methods, we find that the proposed model has achieved outstanding results, the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and root mean square error (RMSE) for each category are about 5.5% and 3, respectively. An integrated device capable of generating large number of multiplexed optical vortex beams with arbitrary topological charges is considered as one of the crucial requirement for driving information photonics forward. Here we report a simple method for simultaneous generation of 100 multiplexed optical vortex beams from a polymer film of size 1mm2 and thickness of 30µm. This is achieved through a combination of computer generated holography, digital hologram printing and photoisomeric polymers. When the fabricated sample is illuminated with a collimated laser beam, a pre-determined vortex array with arbitrary topological charge is emitted. The polymer film easy to synthesise and exhibits good diffraction efficiency and long retention time. © 2021, CC BY.

Background:Recently, the use of the tumor or its secretions as drug carriers has gradually become popular, with the advantages of high biocompatibility and enhanced drug delivery to specific cells. Melanoma is the most malignant tumor of all skin cancers; it is the most metastatic and, therefore, the most difficult to treat. The main purpose of this study is to develop nanovesicles with tumor cell membrane secretion properties to encapsulate target substances to enhance the therapeutic effect of cancer. Methods:Astaxanthin was selected as an anticancer drug due to our previous research finding that astaxanthin has extremely high antioxidant, anti-ultraviolet damage, and anti-tumor properties. The manufacturing method of the astaxanthin nanovesicle carrier is to mix melanoma cells and astaxanthin in an appropriate ratio and then remove the genetic material and inflammatory factors of cancer cells by extrusion. Results:In terms of results, after the co-culture of astaxanthin nanovesicles and melanoma cancer cells, it was confirmed that the ability of astaxanthin nanovesicles to inhibit the growth and metastasis of melanoma cancer cells was significantly better than the same amount of astaxanthin alone, and it had no effect on normal Human cells are also effective. There was no apparent harm on normal cells, indicating the ability of the vesicles to be selectively transported. Conclusion:Our findings illustrated the potential of astaxanthin nanovesicles as an anticancer drug.

Quality control is a crucial issue in the injection molding process with target of obtaining a high yield rate and reducing production cost. However, conventional injection molding acts like a black-box in which the flowing behavior of polymer melt within cavities is unseen, and the tuning of process parameters is heavily relied on operators' experience, design of experimental methods, or even trial- and-error. Such approaches are not only time-consuming but also lack of assuring consistent injection molding qualities and quality control is then required. Nowadays with the advance of sensing technology, many sensors are available to detect the flowing behavior of polymer melt within mold cavities. Particularly the pressure, velocity, and temperature that affect the flowing ability of polymer melt can be detected in time. In other words, injection molding now has been transformed into a grey-box and a scientific viewpoint to tune process parameters can be realized. In this research, a quality index extracted from pressure profile is aimed for online quality monitoring. In addition, the clamping force increment quality index extracted from the tie-bar elongation which is detected by strain gauges attached on tie bars, free of invading injection mold structure, is paid much attention. To verify the feasibility of the designed quality index using to prediction the injection molded quality, varying barrel temperature, back pressure and rotational speed of plasticizing screw those can affect the plasticizing quality of raw materials are conducted in this investigation. Experimental results reveals that the clamping force increment as well as pressure peak index extracted from injection system pressure, nozzle pressure, end-of-filling cavity pressure profiles during injection molding are highly correlated with injection-molded qualities and thereby are feasible to be a good quality indicator. © 2019 Society of Plastics Engineers. Filling-to-packing switchover (also called as V/P switchover) is critical for assuring injection molding quality. An improper filling-to-packing switchover setting may result in various defects of injection-molded parts, such as excessive residual stress, flash, short shot, and warpage, etc. To enhance consistent molding quality, recent V/P switchover approach applies cavity pressure profiles requiring sensors embedded in mold cavities, which is invasive to mold cavities and even expensive. Instead of using cavity pressure sensors, this study thereby proposes a novel approach of identifying ideal V/P switchover timing using a tie-bar elongation profile. In this investigation, a dumbbell testing specimen mold is applied to experimentally verify the feasibility of the proposed method. The results showthat the mold filling and packing stages can be observed along the tie-bar elongation profile detected by mounting strain gauges on tie bars. Moreover, the varying process parameter settings including injection speed, filling-to-packing switchover point, and holding pressure, can be reflected in these profiles. By extracting their characteristics, the decision of filling-to-packing switchover is proved to be realistic. © 2019 Society of Plastics Engineers. All rights reserved.

Objective: We aimed to determine the reliability of using the Fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) index in COVID-19 patients without underlying liver illness. Method: We employed multivariate logistic regression to identify variables that exhibited statistically significant influence on the ultimate outcome. Multilayer perceptron analysis was employed to develop a prediction model for the FIB-4 index concerning ICU admission and intubation rates. However, the scarcity of cases rendered the assessment of the mortality rate unfeasible. We plotted ROC curves to analyze the predictive strength of the FIB-4 index across various age groups. Result: In univariate logistic regression, only the FIB-4 index and respiratory rate demonstrated statistical significance on all poor outcomes. The FIB-4 index for mortality prediction had an ROC and AUC of 0.863 (95% CI: 0.781–0.9444). It demonstrates predictive power across age groups, particularly for age ≥65 (AUC: 0.812, 95% CI: 0.6571–0.9673) and age <65 (AUC: 0.878, 95% CI: 0.8012–0.9558). Its sensitivity for intubation and ICU admission prediction is suboptimal. Conclusion: FIB-4 index had promising power in prediction of mortality rate in all age groups. © 2024 The Authors
