This research evaluates the effectiveness of Mean-Variance (MV) and Safety-First (SF) portfolio selection strategies for high-volume/high-value traded stocks on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE). Analyzing data from 288 stocks over 7,670 trading days (30 years), we estimated stock returns, assigned probability weights, and conducted optimization models. The results show that the Mean-Variance (MV0.5) strategy achieved the best balance between risk and return, boasting the highest mean and cumulative returns with moderate volatility. The Safety-First (SF) strategy, however, yielded negative cumulative returns, indicating potential issues. The Market strategy had the lowest mean return but also the least risk, appealing to risk-averse investors. The Portfolio Mean-Variance (PMV) strategy provided a reasonable balance of returns and risk. Statistical analysis revealed that only the MV0.5 strategy outperformed market returns. These findings offer crucial insights into risk assessment and portfolio management for investors evaluating these strategies against market performance. © 2024 IEEE.

This article presents high performance antenna design for 806.11x applications in mobile device. The 806.11x antenna has been realized by using the flexible printed circuit (FPC) substrate and experimental were achieved. The proposed peak gain, total isotropic sensitivity (TIS), intermediate channel scan (ICS), total radiated power (TRP) and effective isotropic sensitivity (EIS) results of printed antenna can be promoting x-, y-, or z-oriented. The proposed design includes performance of radio frequency (RF) with mobile device from 806.11x antenna and the platform effect of Micro LED display on excellence performance of the housing antenna by laser engraving used in mobile device. © 2021 IEEE.

In this study, we introduced dual-targeting folic acid (FA) and hyaluronic acid (HA) modified on the surface of rice husk mesoporous silica nanoparticles (rMSNs). The rMSNs were employed as a drug delivery system loaded with camptothecin (CPT) as a model drug, Eu3+ ions as a photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy (PDT), bismuth (Bi) for photothermal therapy (PTT), and Gd3+ ions for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to develop novel nanoparticles, rMSN-EuGd-Bi@CPT-HA-FA, with dual-targeted function and triple therapy for cancer treatment. The results of the cell cytotoxicity experiment showed that the A549 cancer cells had a survival rate of approximately 35% when treated with 200 μg mL−1 of rMSN-EuGd-Bi@CPT-HA-FA under 808 nm irradiation for 15 min. The dual-targeted function and synergistic treatment of CPT, PTT, and PDT were also responsible for the 20% survival rate of the A549 cancer cells treated with 200 μg mL−1 of rMSN-EuGd-Bi@CPT-HA-FA under 808 nm irradiation for 30 min. The results showed that rMSN-EuGd-Bi@CPT-HA-FA can effectively combine chemotherapy (through CPT), PDT, and PTT for cancer treatment. © 2023 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

In this study, we focused on depositing a target material, cobalt-iron-dysprosium (Co60Fe20Dy20), onto silicon (Si) (100) substrates with thickness varying from 10 nm to 50 nm through a direct-current (DC) magnetron sputtering technique. The subsequent step involved subjecting the samples to an hour-long annealing process in a vacuum annealing furnace at temperatures of 100°C, 200°C, and 300°C. To assess the elemental composition of the CoFeDy films, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) was employed. An observed trend indicated an increase in low-frequency alternating-current magnetic susceptibility (χac) with the increasing thickness. Remarkably, the CoFeDy films exhibited their peak χac following annealing at 300°C, with an optimal resonance frequency of 50 Hz. After annealing at 300°C, the CoFeDy film’s surface energy peaked at 50 nm. The magnetic, electrical, and adhesive properties of the CoFeDy films were notably influenced by surface roughness at different annealing temperatures. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) analysis revealed a gradual reduction in film roughness post-annealing, corresponding to smoother surfaces indicative of a weaker domain wall pinning effect, heightened carrier conductivity, and increased liquid spreading. Collectively, these outcomes contributed to diminished χac, reduced electrical resistance, and enhanced adhesion. This study aims to identify global trends in intellectual property patents and the patent landscape related to social media in education. Researchers applied a patent landscape analysis using data on 17,471 patent intellectual property documents from the Lens database. The study results show that every year, in general, the number of patents about social media in education is rising. There are entrepreneurial opportunities without paying royalties using 3,623 patent discontinues related to social media in education. Patent intellectual property related to social media in education is dominated by company ownership and inventors from the United States. Patents related to social media in education are dominated by the physics (G) and electricity (H) sections. There are 8,260 simple family social media patents in education in 7 jurisdictions of countries or regions and the highest in the United States. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Greenhouse gas emissions reduction and energy savings for a dredger at port area using hybrid photovoltaic power system onboard

For reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emission and saving energy, a hybrid photovoltaic (PV) energy system comprised of grid-connect and off-grid modes was utilized on a dredger at emission control area (ECA) such as a port area. The experiments on this hybrid PV power system were carried out to evaluate the electric energy consumption of each equipment onboard in three operation modes (dredging, rest and idle) of dredger and to analyze the contribution of such a PV power system. The PV array had charging batteries in grid-connect mode and converted the PV power to alternating current (AC) directly during daytime period. At nighttime, the batteries could supply the electric power in off-grid mode. Even this dredger is no large free deck area for installing PV arrays onboard, the power conversion for PV array can offer about 1.0 % of total demand electric energy yearly. After evaluating the electric power consumption of each equipment onboard at different dredger operation mode, the proposed hybrid PV power system can offer 4.0 % (3.9 kWh by 96.8 kWh) of energy demand in grid-connect at rest mode and supply 100 % (29.85 kWh by 29.85 kWh) energy for dredger equipment in off-grid without diesel generator running at idle mode. This hybrid PV power system on the dredger has not only saved marine diesel oil (MDO) 2094.2 kg/year, reduced GHG of CO2 about 6455 kg/year, SOx about 3.942 kg/year and particulate matter (PM) around 1.97 kg/year but also reduced the diesel generator maintenance cost from stop running for 15 h/day and saved the cost of fuel (MDO) about USD 2128.5/year. The hybrid PV power system exhibited very effective efficiency of PV array and optimized the installation of batteries bank in ship with limited deck space at ECA and port area with high solar radiation density zone. © 2023 International Energy Initiative

Non-conformance cost is one of the key performance indicators in determining the success of executing a project. This study will substantiate the significance of two consecutive fiscal years of non-conformance cost data set in project execution of smart grid. A two-Sample T-Test was used to compare the means of two consecutive years' data sets. All the results of both fiscal years' data set were insignificant. Since it is insignificant, the best recommendation is to thoroughly review the lessons learned from the previous projects and implementation of preventive actions to mitigate or even prevent the occurrence/ reoccurrence of non-conformance and non-conformance costs. A continuous improvement in preventing failures will assure success and increase the profitability margin of the project. © 2023 ACM.

This study aims to review existing literature and research on disruptive innovation and entrepreneurship. The literature was systematically examined according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) principles for systematic review. Following an exhaustive scan of the Scopus database, 32 peer-reviewed articles were included. Several published works are displayed on disruptive innovation and entrepreneurship from the multilevel analysis, perspective analysis, entrepreneurship industry, and disruptive innovation type. The United States was the top research nation, and the most perspective analysis was strategy level. Further research that can be carried out, such as research on disruptive innovation on entrepreneurship, uses a group of construction, mining, and manufacturing. © 2023 The Authors. The food supply chain at present is important to the human and there have a lot of transportation modes to distribute food from manufacturer to customer also business to business. The customers there need fresh food and the providers always find the best way in logistics that send their food to customers with the best quality and fresh, that is why the cold chain of logistics is popular and needs to improve more for the customers. However, there is no clear way to improve the performance and assessment of food logistics service, the aim of this study focused on service quality of food logistics and identify a set of service quality dimensions that developed from the SERVQUAL model for measuring their logistics process after that researcher prioritized the dimensions and sub-dimensions by Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and finalize the local weight and global weight from AHP result. Finally, this research has shown the providers and the customers were prioritized for punctuality in food logistics service. It should be concern and improvement about punctuality in a food logistics service at the same time, the worst dimension of the provider's perspective is tangible and the customer perspective is empathy, that they did not pay attention it should be improved later. © 2023 IEEE.

Hydrothermal synthesis of pore-expanded hydroxyapatite for enhanced Cu2+ adsorption from aqueous solutions

This paper describes the hydrothermal synthesis of a pore-expanded hydroxyapatite (PE-HAp) from fine–grained calcareous sludge using a cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a template and 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene (TMB) as a pore expander for the removal of Cu2+ ions from aqueous solutions. The PE-HAp was characterized using XRD, SEM, DTA/TGA and BET surface analysis. Adsorption behavior was assessed using Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin–Radushkevich, Temkin and Sips isotherms. In a solution with an initial Cu2+ concentration of 200 mg L-1 and a pH of 5.0, the highest Cu2+ removal efficiency was achieved using PE-HAp synthesized at a hydrothermal temperature of 180 °C at a concentration of 15 g/L over a period of 60 min. Using Langmuir isotherms, the highest single-layer adsorption capacity value was 9.90 mg g-1. Gibbs free energy (ΔG°), changes in enthalpy (ΔH°), and changes entropy change (ΔS°) revealed that the adsorption of Cu2+ on PE-HAp was spontaneous and exothermic. The PE-HAp synthesized in this study is a promising material for the removal of Cu2+ from aqueous solutions. © 2024 Elsevier Inc.
