Locally, conventional concrete is still created utilizing river sand and crushed stone as filer materials. The massive quarry dust by-product remain untapped in the production of concrete. The coal-fired power station produce significant quantities of Type F fly ash. Self-compacting concrete (SCC) provides many advantages for creating high-quality concrete. Consequently, the main objective of this research is to create a mix design for high-strength SCC utilizing a binary blends, hybrid fibers and fine aggregates that meet both hardened and fresh concrete characteristics. The study is conducted in amendment of w/b ratio, superplasticizer, proportion of fine aggregate to coarse aggregate, optimumal cement replacing by fly ash, dosage of low macro fibre and micro fibre. Mix-50c-X is the best mix design that was produced. The mix quantity for 1m3 concrete was 315 kg Class F fly ash, 315 kg OPC, 630 kg quarry dust, 508 kg river sand, 400 kg coarse aggregate, 0.7% superplasticizer,0.32% w/b, 0.10% macro fiber, and 0.01% micro fiber. This SCC mixture showed fresh characteristics as well as compressive strengths of more than 22 MPa and 62 MPa after 1 day and 28 days, respectively. The results of high-strength SCC demonstrated the enormous potential for the local construction, especially precast product.

Fire detector central controls installed in present buildings of Taiwan belong to the P-type. All fire alarm sensors in the same zone are connected to the same circuit. On-site inspectors cannot confirm the source of the fire as a fire occurs and the circuit is disconnected. There is also no way of distinguishing which detector is out of service in the event of a fire alarm as the disconnected circuit causes detectors to be disabled. The on-site inspector does not respond in time. That is the main cause of increased fire damage. In practice, the detection of circuit disconnection must be carried out by fire practitioners using ladders or scaffolds to measure the circuit voltage of all detectors on the circuit. In addition to increasing maintenance costs with high floors, it also increases the risk of inspectors falling from heights. Therefore, this study provides a fire alarm disconnection detector of a P-type fire detector control. We designed an extension rod equipped with a 1 kHz, 10 Vp-p AC signal audio transmitter/receiver for preventing the fire alarm the disconnected circuit, connecting to the audio transmitter, and using the extension rod to detect all detectors that are disconnected on the circuit to reduce the danger of fire practitioners during the detection and improve the detection efficiency. © 2021 ECBIOS 2021. This work demonstrates the development of a prototype system that could improve urban and digital accessibility for People with Disability - PwD. The research involves using an academic questionnaire to enable a wider perspective of the central subject and assessing the effectiveness of the proposed solution. The main goal is to help social integration and make the future solution implementable for smart cities through an experiment in an academic campus. The dissertation is related to technological and social issues that might be used as a resource by researchers, public or private bodies interested in more profound studies. The document recognizes the lack of studies on this subject, especially in Brazil because there are few available articles. The prototype system is designed to tackle the issues faced by persons with disability in urban settings through platforms, applications and mobile phones as it proposes a comprehensive set of solutions when addressing accessibility for PwDs. In turn, this research fosters knowledge advancements in the field of urban accessibility and provides vital recommendations for developing inclusive technologies and policies.

In recent years, the utilization of multi-rotor drones has seen a steady rise. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) have found diverse applications, including aerial photography, transportation, military operations, and agriculture. The advent of these compact flying machines offers humanity a range of convenient and versatile choices across various sectors. Although unmanned aerial vehicles hold significant practical value, their stable flight is contingent on favorable weather conditions. Consequently, it becomes crucial to investigate the influence of environmental airflow on aircraft stability. This is particularly important for small machines like rotary-wing aircraft operating in confined spaces, where understanding the aerodynamic effects of the flow field is crucial to avert potential crashes. This study delves into the variations in the flow field during the entry and exit of a single rotor into a tunnel. Utilizing dynamic simulations, it examines how tunnels impact the rotor's flow field and analyzes thrust curves to understand dynamic rotor behavior. The study also explores the effect of vortex generation on the rotor and employs a simple square tunnel to assess how tunnel size and flight speed influence the rotor's flow field during flight. The findings hold potential as reference points to enhance flight stability during tunnel flights. © 2023 IEEE.

Real-time multilingual speech recognition and speaker diarization system based on Whisper segmentation

This research presents the development of a cutting-edge real-time multilingual speech recognition and speaker diarization system that leverages OpenAI’s Whisper model. The system specifically addresses the challenges of automatic speech recognition (ASR) and speaker diarization (SD) in dynamic, multispeaker environments, with a focus on accurately processing Mandarin speech with Taiwanese accents and managing frequent speaker switches. Traditional speech recognition systems often fall short in such complex multilingual and multispeaker contexts, particularly in SD. This study, therefore, integrates advanced speech recognition with speaker diarization techniques optimized for real-time applications. These optimizations include handling model outputs efficiently and incorporating speaker embedding technology. The system was evaluated using data from Taiwanese talk shows and political commentary programs, featuring 46 diverse speakers. The results showed a promising word diarization error rate (WDER) of 2.68% in twospeaker scenarios and 11.65% in three-speaker scenarios, with an overall WDER of 6.96%. This performance is comparable to that of non-real-time baseline models, highlighting the system’s ability to adapt to various complex conversational dynamics, a significant advancement in the field of real-time multilingual speech processing. © 2024 Lyu et al.

The study explores various 2D feature representations including spectrogram, MFCC spectrogram, log Mel-spectrogram, and the perceptual weighted log Mel-spectrogram (PW-LMSP) for acoustic scene classification (ASC). These 2D feature representations were classified using a bottom-up broadcast neural network (BBNN). The experimental results have shown that PW-LMSP outperforms other 2D representations. Further, the proposed method (PW-LMSP with BBNN) achieves accuracies of 91.2% and 91.6% respectively on the DCASE2018 and DCASE2019 development datasets, outperforming all the submissions in DCASE2018 and DCASE2019, as well as state-of-the-art approaches.

Heart Disease remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide. It alarmingly rises at a quick rate, making early heart disease prediction crucial for effective prevention and timely intervention. Heart disease diagnosis is a difficult process that requires technical skills and accuracy to complete. With improvements in technology, computing has lent its voice to simplify the diagnosis of various health problems. Machine learning uses past or existing history to predict future results. Various machine learning techniques have been developed over the years and used in predicting heart diseases with various levels of performance. Identifying the best-suited machine learning technique to use for prediction purposes can be a challenging task. This research work analyses the performance of seven (7) machine learning techniques, comprising AdaBoost Algorithm, KNN, Logistic Regression, Naïve Bayes Classifier, Random Forest, SVM, and XGBoost. The heart disease dataset was downloaded from the UCI repository and analysed using Python programming language in the Jupyter Notebook environment. A comparative analysis of the seven (7) techniques was performed based on Accuracy, Precision, and Recall. From the results obtained, KNN, Random Forest, and XGBoost showed superior performance over the others with an accuracy of 100%, AdaBoost Algorithm followed with an accuracy of 92.2%, SVM followed with an accuracy of 91.71%, Naïve Bayes Classifier followed with an accuracy of 88.29% while Logistic Regression has the least accuracy of 86.34%. This paper presents a framework for portfolio selection in the transportation services, hotel and leisure, and education subsectors of the Philippine market using the mean-variance model. Using the service sector and the broader market as benchmarks, this study spans 7,670 test days from January 1, 1993, to December 31, 2022, identifying optimal risk-return factors (RRFs) of 0.4 for transportation, 0.2 for hotel and leisure, and 0.3 for education. Furthermore, the higher percentage allocations the investors are recommended to invest in are International Container Terminal Services, Inc., Waterfront Philippines, Incorporated, and Far Eastern University, Incorporated. Paired t-test results, with p-values below 0.01 and 0.05, indicate these subsectors can outperform the service sector. The study also conducted a comparative analysis with 30-year historical data to crisis periods like the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) and the COVID-19 pandemic, exhibiting distinct performance trends and emphasizing the need for tailored strategies during economic disruptions. The findings of this research may provide an alternative portfolio selection model for investors seeking to optimize their investment portfolios. © 2024 IEEE.

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), established in 1927, has significantly evolved, especially since the 1980s with major reforms and technological advancements. This paper analyzes the performance of portfolios in the Media, Telecommunications, and Information Technology sectors listed on the PSE over a 30-year span. Using mean-variance analysis, it evaluates portfolio optimization by balancing risk and return. Drawing on data from 1993 to 2022, the study examines portfolios across various risk-return frontiers (RRFs) and compares the service sector's performance. The results highlight varying portfolio metrics across RRFs, with some showing outperformance and higher RRFs leading to diminishing returns. The study also identifies key companies with significant stock allocations, providing strategic insights for portfolio construction. These findings offer investors guidance on optimizing portfolio strategies within the PSE for better decision-making and investment outcomes. © 2024 IEEE.

The Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) scheme uses multiple antenna configurations to achieve high throughput data transmission in current communication systems. The new generation wireless communication system considers using generalised frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) due to its advantages such as lower out-of-band (OOB) emission and peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), etc. However, inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-carrier interference (ICI) occur due to GFDM utilises the pulse shaping filter. This paper proposes a low-complexity joint minimum mean square error (MMSE) receiver to suppress ISI, ICI, and multi-user interference (MUI) for multi-user MIMO-GFDM (MU-MIMO-GFDM) system. The conventional approach is to design the equalisation and the GFDM demodulation separately. This paper jointly designs the equalisation and demodulation process that significantly reduces the complexity and enhances the error rate performance. This paper also analyzes the closed-form expression and two low-complexity methods for the proposed receiver. The simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed low-complexity multi-user MIMO-GFDM receivers. © 2022 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
