The Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB accelerator in Japan is dedicated to exploring physics beyond the Standard Model by performing high-precision measurements of heavy-flavor processes. The SuperKEKB will undergo a major upgrade during a second long shutdown to achieve the target luminosity of 6×1035 cm−2s−1. The vertex detector is a critical component of Belle II, responsible for precise tracking and vertexing near to the interaction point. The current vertex detector will be upgraded to a fully pixelated vertex detector (VTX) based on Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS) technology to enhance performance and address challenges from increasing luminosity. The VTX will consist of five layers of depleted MAPS sensor, called OBElIX, with radii from 14 mm to 140 mm and a material budget ranging from 0.2-0.8% X0 per layer. The OBElIX sensor is derived from the TJ-Monopix2 sensor, originally developed under TowerJazz 180 nm for the ATlAS experiment. This paper discusses the design, implementation, and expected performance of the VTX, highlighting the technical advances brought by MAPS technology, which offer significant advantages in terms of material budget, radiation hardness, and spatial resolution. Visible-light color flters using patterned nanostructures have attracted much interest due to their various advantages such as compactness,enhanced stability,and environmental friendliness compared with traditional pigment or dye-based optical *** most existing studies are based on planar nanostructures with lateral variation in size,shape,and arrangement,the vertical dimension of structures is a long-ignored degree of freedom for the structural ***,we demonstrate a synthetic platform for transmissive color flter array by coordinated manipulations between height-varying nanocavities and their lateral flling *** thickness variation of those nanocavities has been fully deployed as an alternative degree of freedom,yielding vivid colors with wide gamut and excellent *** results show that the color-rendering capability of the pixelated nanocavities can be still retained as pixels are miniaturized to 500 *** between closely spaced pixels of a Bayer color flter arrangement was calculated,showing minimal crosstalk for 1μm2 square *** work provides an approach to designing and fabricating ultracompact color flter arrays for various potential applications including stained-glass microprints,microspectrometers,and high-resolution image sensing systems.

Person retrieval in surveillance video using height, color and gender

A person is commonly described by attributes like height, build, cloth color, cloth type, and gender. Such attributes are known as soft biometrics. They bridge the semantic gap between human description and person retrieval in surveillance video. The paper proposes a deep learning-based linear filtering approach for person retrieval using height, cloth color, and gender. The proposed approach uses Mask R-CNN for pixel-wise person segmentation. It removes background clutter and provides precise boundary around the person. Color and gender models are fine-tuned using AlexNet and the algorithm is tested on SoftBioSearch dataset. It achieves good accuracy for person retrieval using the semantic query in challenging conditions. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Functional Magnetic Resonance imaging (fMRI) provides sequence of 3d images which contains large number of voxels as information. There are many statistical methods evolved in last few years to analyze this information. Main concern of all these techniques is huge dimensions of the data produced by these images. This paper proposes an efficient hybrid method for feature selection and classification. This method combine entropy based genetic algorithm (EGA) with linear Collaborative discriminant Regression Classification (lCdRC) to form feature based classification method. Entropy based genetic algorithm is applied to find maximum significance between the input and output and also it radically reduces the redundancy within the input features. Experiments' using Star-Plus dataset to classify fMRI images shows that EGA-lCdRC reduces up to 60% features and produces 96.73% accuracy.

Nowadays, in hospitals, in medical centers, in farming, in the military, on factory floors, in each and every field application of robotics is increasing day by day. line following robot is one of the widely used robots. Basically, line following robot is an autonomous mobile system which follows the line which has a different color from the background. So the performance of these line following robots heavily depends upon its efficiency in differentiating the line from the background. Many robotic events based on the line following robot are organized at college as well as industry level all across the world. In this paper, we have described various problems we faced while designing the line following system for the robot for ROBOCON 2016 (International robotics event), how we overcome them and how we designed the most optimized, efficient and highperformance line following system. © 2017 IEEE.

The quest for understanding and managing the long-term effects of COVId-19, often referred to as long COVId or post-COVId-19 condition (PCC), remains an active research area. Recent findings highlighted angiopoietin-1 (ANG-1) and p-selectin (P-SEl) as potential diagnostic markers, but validation is essential, given the inconsistency in COVId-19 biomarker studies. leveraging the biobanque québécoise de la COVId-19 (BQC19) biobank, we analyzed the data of 249 participants. Both ANG-1 and P-SEl levels were significantly higher in patients with PCC participants compared with control subjects at 3 months using the Mann-Whitney U test. We managed to reproduce and validate the findings, emphasizing the importance of collaborative biobanking efforts in enhancing the reproducibility and credibility of long COVId research outcomes.

ABSTRACTIn a short span of time since its introduction, generative artificial intelligence (AI) has garnered much interest at both personal and organizational levels. This is because of its potential to cause drastic and widespread shifts in many aspects of life that are comparable to those of the Internet and smartphones. More specifically, generative AI utilizes machine learning, neural networks, and other techniques to generate new content (e.g. text, images, music) by analyzing patterns and information from the training data. This has enabled generative AI to have a wide range of applications, from creating personalized content to improving business operations. despite its many benefits, there are also significant concerns about the negative implications of generative AI. In view of this, the current article brings together experts in a variety of fields to expound and provide multi-disciplinary insights on the opportunities, challenges, and research agendas of generative AI in specific industries (i.e. marketing, healthcare, human resource, education, banking, retailing, the workplace, manufacturing, and sustainable IT management).
