Mahjong,a complex game with hidden information and sparse rewards,poses significant *** Mahjong AIs require substantial hardware resources and extensive datasets to enhance AI *** authors propose a transformer‐based Mahjong AI(Tjong)via hierarchical decision‐*** utilising self‐attention mechanisms,Tjong effectively captures tile patterns and game dynamics,and it decouples the decision pro-cess into two distinct stages:action decision and tile *** design reduces de-cision complexity ***,a fan backward technique is proposed to address the sparse rewards by allocating reversed rewards for actions based on winning *** consists of 15M parameters and is trained using approximately 0.5 M data over 7 days of supervised learning on a single server with 2 *** action decision achieved an accuracy of 94.63%,while the claim decision attained 98.55%and the discard decision reached 81.51%.In a tournament format,Tjong outperformed AIs(CNN,MLP,RNN,ResNet,VIT),achieving scores up to 230%higher than its ***-more,after 3 days of reinforcement learning training,it ranked within the top 1%on the leaderboard on the Botzone platform.

Satellite observations of coastal upwelling in the northern Arafura Sea

Coastal upwelling is significant for marine ecosystems by lifting nutrient-rich deep waters into the euphotic zone,thereby increasing primary and secondary *** satellite observations show that the northern Arafura Sea(NAS),especially in the coastal region,features high chlorophyll-a(chl-a)concentrations,implying a strong coastal ***,coastal upwelling in the NAS has not received much *** on a semi-automatic image processing technology,the seasonal and interannual variability of coastal upwelling in the NAS are investigated in this study using satellite-observed sea surface temperature(SST)and wind *** results suggest that there are seasonal coastal upwelling events in the NAS modulated by upwelling-favorable southeast monsoon(SEM).The annual mean days,mean area,and annual mean intensity of coastal upwelling events during the SEM season are 92 days,6514 km^(2),and-5.31×10^(5),respectively,while the corresponding values during the northwest monsoon(NWM)season are 32 days,5569 km^(2),and-1.41×10^(5).It is also found that the SEM coastal upwelling in the NAS displays prominent interannual *** strong upwelling events are found in 2010,2013,2016,and 2017 when the southeast monsoon winds were *** analysis suggests that at the interannual scale,the upwelling index(UI)averaged in the SEM season is negatively correlated with that of three upwelling *** can be attributed to the limitation of onshore geostrophic flow which is evidenced by the negative correlation between the UI and the alongshore difference in sea surface *** study highlights the important role of the southeast monsoon in the temporal variability of coastal upwelling in the NAS.

Uniform memory multicore neural network accelerators(UNNAs)furnish huge computing power to emerging neural network ***,with neural network architectures going deeper and wider,the limited memory capacity has become a constraint to deploy models on UNNA *** how to efficiently manage memory space and how to reduce workload footprints are urgently *** this paper,we propose Tetris:a heuristic static memory management framework for UNNA *** reconstructs execution flows and synchronization relationships among cores to analyze each tensor’s liveness *** the memory management problem is converted to a sequence permutation *** uses a genetic algorithm to explore the permutation space to optimize the memory management strategy and reduce memory *** evaluate several typical neural networks and the experimental results demonstrate that Tetris outperforms the state-of-the-art memory allocation methods,and achieves an average memory reduction ratio of 91.9%and 87.9%for a quad-core and a 16-core Cambricon-X platform,respectively.

Evolution hydrothermal aging resistance mechanism study of zirconium and manganese doped CeO_(2)catalysts in soot catalytic combustion based on low Miller indices crystal surface effect

The thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)experiments were carried out to reveal the mechanism of Zr and Mn doping on catalytic activity of CeO_(2)catalyst both fresh and after hydrothermal aging,and the lattice morphology and valence changes were characterized by means of Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)method,X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and H_(2)-temperature programmed reduction(H_(2)-TPR).Density functional theory(DFT)and molecular thermodynamics calculations were applied to investigate the change in catalytic activity,crystal surface energy and crystal morphology caused by hydrothermal *** maximum reaction rate temperature of fresh Mn/CeO_(2)(389℃)is similar to that of CeO_(2)(371℃)and lower than that of Zr/CeO_(2)(447℃),but the catalytic performance of CeO_(2)decreases more severely after hydrothermal *** catalyst crystals show different degrees of crystal surface migration after hydrothermal aging,which leads to the reduction of Ce^(3+)/Ce^(4+) ratio and the active sites *** calculations indicate that the doping of Zr and Mn reduces the surface energy of the low Miller indices surface and increases the oxygen vacancy formation energy,leading to better thermal stability and lower catalytic *** Zr and Mn doping also changes the adsorption energy and Gibbs free energy of H_(2)O,which dominates the migration of(111)to(110)and(100)in the vapor *** crystal surface migration mechanism of CeO_(2)catalysts doped with Zr and Mn induced by H_(2)O molecules at high temperature obtained in this study can provide a valuable addition to the regeneration of CeO_(2)catalysts in the after-treatment systems of diesel engines.

Decision making based on predictive traffic flow is one of effective solutions to relieve road congestion. Capturing and modeling the dynamic temporal relationships in global data is an important part of the traffic flow prediction problem. Transformer network has been proven to have powerful capabilities in capturing long-range dependencies and interactions in sequences, making it widely used in traffic flow prediction tasks. However, existing transformer-based models still have limitations. On the one hand, they ignore the dynamism and local relevance of traffic flow time series due to static embedding of input data. On the other hand, they do not take into account the inheritance of attention patterns due to the attention scores of each layer’s are learned separately. To address these two issues, we propose an evolving transformer network based on hybrid dilated convolution, namely HDCformer. First, a novel sequence embedding layer based on dilated convolution can dynamically learn the local relevance of traffic flow time series. Secondly, we add residual connections between attention modules of adjacent layers to fully capture the evolution trend of attention patterns between layers. Our HDCformer is evaluated on two real-world datasets and the results show that our model outperforms state-of-the-art baselines in terms of MAE, RMSE, and MAPE. © ICST Institute for Computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2024.

The standing waves existing in radio telescope data are primarily due to reflections among the instruments,which significantly impact the spectral quality of the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST).Eliminating these standing waves for FAST is challenging given the constant changes in their phases and *** a ten-second period,the phases shift by 18°while the amplitudes fluctuate by 6 ***,we developed the fast Fourier transform(FFT)filter method to eliminate these standing waves for every individual *** FFT filter can decrease the rms from 3.2 to 1.15 times the theoretical *** to other methods such as sine fitting and running median,the FFT filter achieves a median rms of approximately 1.2 times the theoretical expectation and the smallest scatter at 12%.Additionally,the FFT filter method avoids the flux loss issue encountered with some other *** FFT is also efficient in detecting harmonic radio frequency interference(RFI).In the FAST data,we identified three distinct types of harmonic RFI,each with amplitudes exceeding 100 mK and intrinsic frequency periods of 8.1,0.5,and 0.37 MHz,*** FFT filter,proven as the most effective method,is integrated into the H I data calibration and imaging pipeline for FAST(HiFAST,https://***).

The oxidative pentose phosphate(OPP)pathway provides metabolic intermediates for the shikimate pathway and directs carbon flow to the biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids(AAAs),which serve as basic protein building blocks and precursors of numerous metabolites essential for plant ***,genetic evidence linking the two pathways is largely *** this study,we identified 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase 2(PGD2),the rate-limiting enzyme of the cytosolic OPP pathway,through suppressor screening of arogenate dehydrogenase 2(adh2)in *** data indicated that a single amino acid substitution at position 63(glutamic acid to lysine)of PGD2 enhanced its enzyme activity by facilitating the dissociation of products from the active site of PGD2,thus increasing the accumulation of AAAs and partially restoring the defective phenotype of *** analysis indicated that the point mutation occurred in a well-conserved amino acid *** with different amino acids at this conserved site of PGDs confer diverse catalytic activities,thus exhibiting distinct AAAs producing *** findings uncover the genetic link between the OPP pathway and AAAs biosynthesis through *** gain-of-function point mutation of PGD2 identified here could be considered as a potential engineering target to alter the metabolic flux for the production of AAAs and downstream compounds.
