Neon-concentration dependent retarding effect on the recrystallization of irradiated tungsten:Experimental analysis and molecular dynamics simulation

Recrystallization is a critical issue in ITER and future fusion devices as it strongly deteriorates the prop-erties and serving life of tungsten divertor *** this work,we investigated the influence of neon on the recrystallization behavior of tungsten and its underlying mechanism by both experimental anal-ysis and molecular dynamics *** tungsten was irradiated by neon ion with energies of 10 and 100 keV and fluences of 1×10^(18)-1×10^(20)m^(−2),followed by isochronal annealing at various temperatures(1473-2073 K)for 1 *** results indicate that 10 keV neon ion irradiation slightly in-hibits tungsten recrystallization due to the shallow depth distribution of neon(35 nm),whereas 100 keV neon ion irradiation exerts a significant retarding effect on tungsten recrystallization when neon con-centration reaches∼102 *** boundaries can hardly move with neon concentration reaching 400 appm,above which the retarding effect is very strong and varies *** retarded recrystallization is mainly attributed to the pinning effect of neon clusters/bubbles on the grain boundary movement dur-ing *** neon clusters are found to play a predominant role in the retarding effect and the un-clustered neon atoms show a very limited effect on the grain boundary *** comparing the neon effects on recrystallization in this work and helium effects reported in the literature,we found that helium exhibits a relatively stronger recrystallization retarding effect than *** is because helium is more easily to diffuse into grain boundaries and form larger clusters due to its high diffusivity and low self-trapping energy in tungsten,which can greatly impede the migration of grain *** work provides a fundamental insight into the neon-concentration dependent recrystallization retarding effect in tungsten and the corresponding underlying atomic-level mechanisms.

Excessive abdominal fat deposition seriously restricts the production efficiency of *** studies found that dietary supplemental manganese(Mn)could effectively reduce the abdominal fat deposition of broilers,but the underlying mechanisms remain *** present study aimed to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation with the inorganic or organic Mn on abdominal fat deposition,and enzyme activity and gene expression involved in lipid metabolism in the abdominal fat of male or female broilers.A total of 4201-d-old AA broilers(half males and half females)were randomly allotted by body weight and gender to 1 of 6 treatments with 10 replicates cages of 7 chicks per cage in a completely randomized design involving a 3(dietary Mn addition)×2(gender)factorial *** or female broilers were fed with the Mn-unsupplemented basal diets containing 17.52 mg Mn kg^(-1)(d 1-21)and 15.62 mg Mn kg^(-1)(d 22-42)by analysis or the basal diets supplemented with 110 mg Mn kg^(-1)(d 1-21)and 80 mg Mn kg^(-1)(d 22-42)as either the Mn sulfate or the Mn proteinate with moderate chelation strength(Mn-Prot M)for 42 *** results showed that the interaction between dietary Mn addition and gender had no impact(P>0.05)on any of the measured parameters;abdominal fat percentage of broilers was decreased(P<0.003)by Mn addition;Mn addition increased(P<0.004)adipose triglyceride lipase(ATGL)activity,while Mn-Prot M decreased(P<0.002)the fatty acid synthase(FAS)activity in the abdominal fat of broilers compared to the control;Mn addition decreased(P<0.009)diacylglycerol acyltransferase 2(DGAT2)mRNA expression level and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ(PPARγ)mRNA and protein expression levels,but up-regulated(P<0.05)the ATGL mRNA and protein expression levels in the abdominal fat of *** was concluded that dietary supplementation with Mn inhibited the abdominal fat deposition of broilers possibly via decreasing the expression of PPARγand DGAT2 as well

The objective of this study was to examine the early serum proteomic and inflammatory profiles of weaned piglets subjected to iron *** healthy piglets(Duroc×Landrace×Large Yorkshire,body weight:4.96±0.05 kg)were weaned at 21 days of ***,these animals were randomly allocated to one of two groups,with six replicates in each group(maintaining a male-to-female ratio of 1:1),the control group(administered 100 mg/kg Fe as FeSO_(4)·H_(2)O)and L-Fe group(no additional Fe supplementation).The results showed that 42 days after initiating,compared with control group,routine blood analysis revealed a reduction in serum iron content,red blood cell(RBC)count,hemoglobin(HGB)content,hematocrit(HCT),and mean corpuscular volume(MCV)(P 0.05).During the early stages of iron deficiency,piglets exhibited increased villus height(VH)and the ratio of VH to crypt depth(CD)in the duodenum(P<0.05)and increased expression levels of iron transporters,including duodenal cytochrome(Cybrd),divalent metal transport 1(DMT1),and ferritin light chain(FTL)(P<0.05).Subsequently,isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation(iTRAQ)were used to identify serum *** Ontology(GO)analysis of the differentially abundant proteins(DAP)revealed that 24 of the 30 DAP were involved in platelet function,immune response,cellular metabolism,transcription,and protein ***,prothrombin,asporin(ASPN),and Rac family small GTPase 3(RAC3)expression was induced,whereas glycoprotein Ib platelet subunit alpha(GPIbA)expression was *** was accompanied by a substantial reduction in serum complement 3(C3)and complement 4(C4)contents(P<0.05),with elevated the contents of interleukin-1β(IL-1β),interleukin-4(IL-4),interleukin-6(IL-6),transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)(P<0.05).Our findings underscore the essential role of dietary iron supplementation in maintaining iron homeostasis and modulating inflammatory responses in piglets.

The accurate prediction of wind speed is of central importance in numerous engineering and environmental disciplines. The reliability of such predictions is of paramount importance in ensuring the safety of building structures and the stability of energy systems. However, traditional wind speed prediction methods are constrained in their ability to handle nonlinear and unstable wind speed data. In light of these considerations, this study proposes a dynamic adaptive segmented wind speed interval prediction method based on fuzzy information granulation, with the objective of enhancing the precision of wind speed prediction and the quality of interval estimation. In light of the nonlinear and non-stationary nature of wind speed data, a FIG-MSS model that integrates fuzzy logic and dynamic time window adjustment is proposed. The model is capable of adaptively capturing the fluctuating characteristics of wind speed data, while the constructed intervals are modeled using LSSVM. The FIG-MSS-LSSVM demonstrates superior performance in PICP, PINAW, and CWC evaluation metrics at confidence levels of 0.9 and 0.95, effectively addressing extreme variations in wind speed data, and providing satisfactory PIs at different confidence levels. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method outperforms the traditional method at varying confidence levels, and is capable of effectively reducing the volatility and uncertainty of the PIs with high prediction stability and accuracy. © 2025 SPIE.

Variability of the Pacific subtropical cells under global warming in CMIP6 models

The Pacific subtropical cells(STCs)are shallow meridional overturning circulations connecting the tropics and subtropics,and are assumed to be an important driver of the tropical Pacific decadal *** variability of STCs under global warming is investigated using multimodal outputs from the latest phase of the Coupled Model Inter-comparison Project(CMIP6)and ocean reanalysis ***,the volume transport diagnostic analysis is employed to evaluate how coupled models and ocean reanalysis products reproduce interior STC *** variation of heat transport by the interior STC under the high-emissions warming scenarios is also *** results show that the multimodal-mean linear trends of the interior STC transport along 9°S and 9°N are-0.02 Sv/a and 0.04 Sv/a under global warming,respectively,which is mainly due to the combined effect of the strengthened upper oceanic stratification and the weakening of wind *** is a compensation relationship between the interior STC and the western boundary transport in the future climate,and the compensation relationship of 9°S is more significant than that of 9°*** addition,compared with ocean reanalysis products,the coupled models tend to underestimate the variability of the interior STC transport convergence,and thus may lose some sea surface temperature(SST)driving force,which may be the reason for the low STC-SST correlation simulated by the *** future scenario simulation shows that the heat transport of interior STC is weakened under global warming,with a general agreement across models.

This study investigated the application of acoustic emission (AE) technology for monitoring damage initiation as well as the accumulation of carbon fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP) at cryogenic temperatures. Utilizing a comprehensive AE system with fiber-optic sensors, we analyzed the static and dynamic damage processes of carbon fiber-reinforced cyanate ester resin-based composites at liquid nitrogen temperature (77 K). The capability and reliability of the AE technology to detect and characterize damage in extreme environments can provide valuable insights into material design, safety assessment, and nondestructive testing methods. The study highlighted the importance of applying AE technology to cryogenic applications, helping to improve the performance and reliability of CFRP. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. The calibration process of laser scanning projection system requires accurate positioning of cooperative targets and precise calculation of coordinate transformation equations. Therefore, this study analyzed the main causes of projection distortion in laser scanning projectors based on a dual-axis galvanometer, established a corresponding mathematical model, optimized the coordinate transformation equation used for calibration, and studied the use of an adaptive weight particle swarm optimization algorithm for its calculation. Meanwhile, the study also explored the Otsu-optimized Canny operator and combined it with the Delaunay triangulation algorithm to process the scanning detection data of cooperative targets and quickly extract their center coordinates. The comprehensive application of these algorithms was experimentally validated using actual measurement data, and the results indicated that the deviation of the calculated calibration parameters was 1.631 × 10-4mm. © 2024 IEEE.
