Convenient Self-Heating Instant Food Causes Significant Increasing Human Exposure to Organophosphate Esters

The self-heating lunch box(SHLB)is a kind of popular instant food in China,yet little is known about the associated chemical release risk during its heating *** this study,we investigated organophosphate esters(OPEs)in original unheated food(UF),SHLB-heated processed food(HF)and potential OPE release from SHLB packaging *** higher concentrations of OPEs were observed in HF(267±246 ng/g dry weight(dw))than in UF(163±211 ng/g dw)(p<0.001),suggesting an introduction of additional OPEs during heating ***(2-chloroethyl)phosphate,triethyl phosphate,and tris(2-chloroisopropyl)phosphate exhibited the highest absolute increased amounts,with 137,48.8,and 149%growth in HF than in UF,*** testing revealed that packaging materials were rich in OPEs and can release considerable OPEs into food simulates(range,14.7-90.8 ng/g;mean,47.9±21.8).Influencing factors(temperature,contact time,oily food)on OPE migration from packaging materials to food were *** temperature and longer contact time increased OPE contents in food ***,the presence of abundant OPEs in UF and significant correlations among different OPEs(p<0.05)suggested contamination happened during food processing and *** one SHLB meal a day,a 12-fold increase of OPE intake was observed for humans compared to those following a traditional dietary *** the high-exposure(95th percentile)scenario,hazard quotients of nine OPEs ranged from 0.00005 to *** results suggested that the SHLB exposure pathway of OPEs should be particularly paid attention to in specific subpopulations that prefer this dietary habit.

The anisotropy of suprathermal electrons in the Martian ionosphere

Suprathermal electrons are an important population of the Martian ionosphere, either produced by photoionization of atmospheric neutrals or supplied from the Solar Wind (SW). This study is dedicated to an in-depth investigation of the pitch angle distribution of suprathermal electrons at two representative energies, 19−55 eV and 124−356 eV, using the extensive measurements made by the Solar Wind Electron Analyzer on board the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution. Throughout the study, we focus on the overall degree of anisotropy, defined as the standard deviation of suprathermal electron intensity among different directions which is normalized by the mean omni-directional intensity. The available data reveal the following characteristics: (1) In general, low energy electrons are more isotropic than high energy electrons, and dayside electrons are more isotropic than nightside electrons;(2) On the dayside, the anisotropy increases with increasing altitude at low energies but remains roughly constant at high energies, whereas on the nightside, the anisotropy decreases with increasing altitude at all energies;(3) Electrons tend to be more isotropic in strongly magnetized regions than in weakly magnetized regions, especially on the nightside. These observations indicate that the anisotropy is a useful diagnostic of suprathermal electron transport, for which the conversion between the parallel and perpendicular momenta as required by the conservation of the first adiabatic invariant, along with the atmospheric absorption at low altitudes, are two crucial factors modulating the observed variation of the anisotropy. Our analysis also highlights the different roles on the observed anisotropy exerted by suprathermal electrons of different origins.

Numerical analysis of motional mode coupling of sympathetically cooled two-ion crystals

A two-ion pair in a linear Paul trap is extensively used in the research of the simplest quantum-logic system;however,there are few quantitative and comprehensive studies on the motional mode coupling of two-ion systems *** study proposes a method to investigate the motional mode coupling of sympathetically cooled two-ion crystals by quantifying three-dimensional(3 D)secular spectra of trapped ions using molecular dynamics *** 3 D resonance peaks of the^(40)Ca^(+)–^(27)Al^(+)pair obtained by using this method were in good agreement with the 3 D in-and out-of-phase modes predicted by the mode coupling theory for two ions in equilibrium and the frequency matching errors were lower than 2%.The obtained and predicted amplitudes of these modes were also qualitatively *** was observed that the strength of the sympathetic interaction of the^(40)Ca^(+)–^(27)Al^(+)pair was primarily determined by its axial in-phase *** addition,the frequencies and amplitudes of the ion pair's resonance modes(in all dimensions)were sensitive to the relative masses of the ion pair,and a decrease in the mass mismatch enhanced the sympathetic cooling *** sympathetic interactions of the^(40)Ca^(+)–^(27)Al^(+)pair were slightly weaker than those of the^(24)Mg^(+)–^(27)Al^(+)pair,but significantly stronger than those of^(9)Be^(+)–^(27)Al^(+).However,the Doppler cooling limit temperature of^(40)Ca^(+)is comparable to that of^(9)Be^(+)but lower than approximately half of that of^(24)Mg^(+).Furthermore,laser cooling systems for^(40)Ca^(+)are more reliable than those for^(24)Mg^(+)and^(9)Be^(+).Therefore,^(40)Ca^(+)is probably the best laser-cooled ion for sympathetic cooling and quantum-logic operations of^(27)Al^(+)and has particularly more notable comprehensive advantages in the development of high reliability,compact,and transportable^(27)Al^(+)optical *** methodology may be extended to multi-ion systems,and it will greatly aid efforts to control the dy

Hippeastrum, a highly diverse genus in the Amaryllidaceae family, is a valuable ornamental bulbous flowering plant. Somatic embryogenesis(SE) is an efficient method for mass production of Hippeastrum plantlets. Previous studies have been devoted to the in vitro propagation of Hippeastrum, but the SE and its regulatory networks are rarely reported. In this study, we established a direct SE method of Hippeastrum Bangkok Rose' using leaf bases as explants. MS supplemented with 1.00 mg·L^(-1)NAA +1.00 mg·L^(-1)KT + 0.25 mg·L^(-1)TDZ was the optimal medium for SE. Histological observations showed that the bipolar somatic embryo originated from the epidermal cell layer and underwent initiation,globular, scutellar and coleoptile stages. During SE, endogenous hormones of IAA, CTK, ABA, and SA were highly accumulated. Transcriptomic analysis revealed the genes encoding auxin biosynthesis/metabolic enzymes and efflux carriers were induced, while the auxin receptor of TIR1 and ARF transcriptional repressor of Aux/IAA were down-regulated and up-regulated, respectively, leading to suppression of auxin signaling. In contrast, cytokine signaling was promoted at the early stage of SE, as biosynthesis, transport, and signaling components were *** stress-related genes were up-regulated at the early or late stages of SE. Chromatin remodeling could also be dynamically regulated via distinct expression enzymes that control histone methylation and acetylation during SE. Moreover, key SE regulators, including WOXs and SERKs were highly expressed along with SE. Overall, the present study provides insights into the SE regulatory mechanisms of the Hippeastrum.

In the realm of visual tasks, the estimation of orientation plays a pivotal role yet often remains an understudied aspect in the gamut of image analysis research. This paper endeavors to address this deficiency by conducting a comprehensive review of methods for orientation estimation within 2D imaging contexts. We aim to provide researchers with an exhaustive overview and detailed analysis of the techniques utilized for orientation estimation, thereby enhancing their understanding of this complex field. We introduce an organized classification of orientation estimation methods, segmented into approaches based on classification algorithms and those based on regression models. This classification not only sheds light on the distinct methodologies but also scrutinizes their underlying assumptions, practical applications. Additionally, the study identifies and underscores emerging research opportunities that hold the potential to enrich the discourse and technical advancements in orientation estimation, thereby encouraging deeper academic investigation and technological development. © 2024 The Authors.

In complex rescue environments, the information that can be perceived by a single vision is often limited, and it is easy to miss the best opportunity to help disaster victims. We designed an intelligent robotic system that fuses audio-visual information to solve the problems of poor lighting, heat source interference, and line-of-sight occlusion in complex rescue environments. By carrying visible optics cameras, infrared cameras, and microphone arrays, the system realizes multi-modal information sensing of vision, temperature, and hearing in complex environments. And we designed an intelligent recognition algorithm for multi-modal fusion. It searches for rescuers outside the camera's field of view through sound source localization, and uses audio-visual fusion for human recognition, which ensures the normal operation of the rescue system in obscured or poorly lit environments. We conducted data acquisition and testing experiments in six different complex environments. The results show an accuracy of 95.17% using the audio-visual fusion algorithm. The fat mass and obesity-associated protein(FTO)is an RNA demethylase required for catalytic demethylation of N^(6)-methyladenosine(m^(6)A);it is highly expressed and functions as an oncogene in acute myeloid leukemia(AML).Currently,the overarching objective of targeting FTO is to precisely inhibit the catalytic ***,whether FTO degradation also exerts antileukemic effects remains ***,we designed the first FTO-targeting proteolysis targeting chimera(PROTAC)degrader QP73 using our FTO inhibitor Dac85dwhich potently inhibits FTO demethylation in AML cell linesdas a ***,QP73 significantly induced FTO degradation in a time-,dose-,and ubiquitineproteasome system-dependent manner and had superior antiproliferative activities to the FTO inhibitor Dac85 in various AML cell ***,QP73 treatment significantly increased m^(6)A modification on mRNA,promoted myeloid differentiation,and induced apoptosis of AML *** proteomics analysis showed that QP73 induced complete FTO degradation,upregulating RARA and ASB2 abundance and downregulating CEBPA,MYC,PFKP,and LDHB levels in AML ***,QP73 exhibited antileukemic activity by increasing m^(6) A modification and decreasing FTO levels in xenograft AML *** proof-of-concept study shows that FTO-targeting PROTAC degraders can regulate the FTO signaling pathway and have potential antileukemia applications.
