Hidden fire risk are important disaster-inducing factors for potential fire accidents, which provides a breakthrough point for early intervention and prevention of potential fire accidents. Unsafe setting of electric wires is a very dangerous type of hidden fire risk that could cause fire accidents. It is of great significance to analyze the distribution pattern of hidden fire risk and related factors of this type of hidden fire hazard for early intervention. However, few researches have been done in the field of hidden fire risk. In this study, two network K-function methods, the univariate network K-function method and the bivariate network K-function method, were applied to analyze spatial patterns and its related factors of unsafe setting of electric wires as a hidden fire risk. The research data came from daily inspection in urban grid management of Guangming district, Shenzhen. The results indicated that the spatial distribution of unsafe setting of electric wires is highly related to the transportation network in the study area. The distribution pattern is influenced by the distribution of residential quarters and office buildings. The methods in this study can also be used to analyze other types of hidden fire hazards. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

With the development of remote sensing technological, the data of remote sensing has become even huger, and the process is more complex and time-consuming. This paper presents a decentralized self-coordinating distributed method, designs and implements a decentralized self-coordinating distributed remote sensing image processing prototype system. The principle of this system is to assign remote sensing image processing to other node according to global directory, so as to accelerate the speed of the process. The global directory records all nodes' information including the load balance factor which records the nodes' capability of processing remote sensing image. It provides a new distributed computing model for the remote sensing image processing and gives the remote sensing image processing system flexibility, scalability, higher performance and reliability scale. © 2008 SPIE.

ScanSAR is a synthetic aperture radar (SAR), which has a very wide image swath. This provides a new option for interferometric applications. It makes the large scale deformation observation easier to implement. In this paper, we applied ScanSAR differential interferometry in Dangxiong, Tibet to observe the crust deformation there. However, the accuracy of ScanSAR interferometry is also affected by water vapour in the atmosphere. In our work, we tried to correct the wet delay using synchronous MERIS integrated water vapour products. In the end of this paper,the advantages and problems of ScanSAR interferometry are concluded.©2008 IEEE.

Urban environments, or living cities, share the characteristic of a high degree of organized complexity. This complexity arises from the components of the urban fabric: streets, shops, offices, houses, pedestrian zones, green spaces, plazas, parking lots, transportation networks, natural features, etc. Citizens in urban spaces are using location-based services (LBS) on their mobile devices in ever increasing numbers. The collection of spatial data and information on large urban spaces, by traditional methods of mapping and geographical survey, is expensive and resource intensive. These methods cannot capture the dynamic nature of urban environments within an acceptable time-frame for use in LBS. Volunteered Geographic information (VGI) is a recent phenomenon where citizens and/or other groups collect geographic information using smartphones, GPS, etc. In this paper we discuss how crowdsouring and VGI can be used as a complement/addition, or in some cases a replacement, to traditionally generated sources of spatial data and information. © 2011 ACM.

Noise problem has a strong impact on the performance of sensor, especially in the field of aviation remote sensing. In this paper, the structure difference of CMOS and CCD image sensor is analyzed, and the noise affection and reasons are researched for CMOS image quality. Then the effective methods for each type of noise suppression are presented to improve the imaging capability. These researches provide theoretical support for the development of CMOS image sensor technology, and give a chance to use in the field of aviation remote sensing. © 2010 IEEE.

Atmospheric correction for nighttime light image using radiative transfer model

Nighttime light (NTL) remote sensing data has been widely used in various fields, such as human activity analysis, urbanization studies, and economic evaluation. However, Earth’s nighttime environment is very complex so that the NTL images are seriously affected by atmospheric effect and moonlight. This complexity primarily stems from the numerous atmospheric scattering and absorption, as well as the incoming moonlight, which can significantly distort and contaminate nighttime light observed by the satellite and consequently reduce the precision and stability of NTL data. In order to improve the quantitatively quality of the NTL data, this paper proposes an innovative atmospheric correction algorithm that leverages the nighttime radiative transfer model (nRTM) considering both atmospheric effect and moonlight effect to get ground radiance of artificial lights from satellite nighttime light images. This model takes into account the complex interactions between light and the atmosphere. By simulating these processes, the algorithm is able to separate the contributions of atmospheric scattering and absorption from the original NTL images. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, this paper takes the SDGSAT-1 NTL image of beijing as a representative case study of atmospheric correction. By comparing the corrected and uncorrected images, it is evident that the atmospheric correction significantly improves the quality of the NTL data and the ground nighttime lighting information becomes clearer and more accurate, effectively removing noise interference and enhancing data reliability. Moreover, it also found that the high-pressure sodium (HPS) lamps and LED lamps in the NTL images presented different radiance values and spectral shapes that can be helpful for classifying different lamps. © 1980-2012 IEEE.

The lines in 2D images are underlying metadata of many applications in the photogrammetry and visual fields, so how to extract and match lines accurately is an important technology. Thus, the paper aimed at the inefficiency of line matching problems, made use of topology of points, lines and planes, proposed a fast line matching algorithm based on projective transformation. This algorithm judged the coplanar condition of feature points extracted by SIFT and the candidate lines, used projective transformation or similar projective transformation to match lines fast and accurately. Finally, through a set of close-range photogrammetry data to validate that the algorithm can improve efficiency in matching lines.

Based on the characteristics of color space transform between RGB and HSI, an algorithm of color difference measurement for color image is presented. The degree of scatter about color space distribution of a given image region is determined by computing the sum of color difference between every pixel and the other pixels of the image region. Then an effective feature template, which is then used in color image matching, is chosen according to the degree value. Furthermore, template matching is applied to obtain relative displacement between two images to mosaicked. A function of brightness transform is built by Least Mean Square (LMS). According to the function built, brightness of each pixel in one color image is adjusted when necessary, and then the brightness difference between two images can be eliminated. Experimental results show that the proposed approach has good precision of image mosaicking and capacity of anti-jamming for brightness. © 2009 IEEE.

Middle-resolution Leaf Area Index (LAI) data are of great importance to scientific research relating to atmospheric composition, climate and weather, and the hydrological cycle. This paper introduces a physically based LAI retrieval technique for HJ-CCD at 30-m resolution. The algorithm is based on a canopy BRDF model that characterizes the surface reflectance as a function of a series of parameters. There are three key factors that influence the LAI retrieval processes: 1) the preprocessing to estimate surface reflectance; 2) the quality of the input land cover data; 3) the accuracy of the input parameters. Accounting for these factors, a 30-m LAI product of Heihe River Basin in the whole year of 2012 is created utilizing the data from HJ-CCD. Then field measurements are used to evaluate the quality of the product. Results show that the algorithm has the ability to produce LAI products as expected. Future researches will focus on reducing the uncertainties brought by the input data and parameters and implementing this algorithm at national scale over China.
