On the Internet, plain text documents created and viewed by users constitute ever changing document streams. Lots of the literature is devoted to topic modeling, while the sequential patterns of topics in document streams are ignored. In this paper, we deal with the problem of mining user related rare sequential patterns of topics in the Internet document streams, which can be used in many fields, such as real-time user behavioral monitoring on the Internet. We propose an approach to discover rare patterns based on the temporal and probabilistic information of topics. Experiments show that the proposed approach can discover user related rare patterns of topic effectively. Copyright 2014 ACM.

Background Crossing-based target selection motion may attain less error rates and higher interactive speed in some *** of the research in target selection fields are focused on the analysis of the interaction ***,as trajectories play a much more important role in crossing-based target selection compared to the other interactive techniques,an ideal model for trajectories can help computer designers make predictions about interaction results during the process of target selection rather than at the end of the whole *** In this paper,a trajectory prediction model for crossing based target selection tasks is proposed by taking the reference of a dynamic model *** Simulation results demonstrate that our model performed well with regard to the prediction of trajectories,endpoints and hitting time for target-selection motion,and the average error of trajectories,endpoints and hitting time values were found to be 17.28%,2.73mm and 11.50%,respectively.

Color is one of the most important low-level features used in image analysis and retrieval. In this paper we introduce an algorithm for extracting compact color feature in the CIElab.color space. Our method is based on an ant colony clustering algorithm, which helps us develop a perceptually based image similarity metric. We propose a dominant color and area percentage model, which provides a very compact color feature representation of images. Besides image similarity metric is developed based on dominant colors matching. The algorithm introduced in this paper is well suited for creating small color descriptors and is efficient. It is suitable for image representation, matching and retrieval. It also has some important advantages for content-based image retrieval system, such as great reduction of the feature file sizes needed for storage and indexing.

Understanding human emotions in natural communication is still a challenge problem to be solved in human-computer interaction. Emotional tone that people feel within a period of time can affect the way people communicate with others or environment. In this paper, a new emotional tone-based two-stage algorithm for continuous emotion recognition from audio signals is presented. Gaussian mixture models of hidden Markov models (GMM-HMMs) are employed to infer the dimensional emotional tone and affect lab.ls. Two emotional tones, positive or negative, which represent the overall emotion state over an audio clip are first obtained. Then, based on that emotional tone, corresponding positive or negative GMM-HMM classifier is refined to finish the continuous emotion recognition. The experimental results show that our method outperforms the GMM-HMM and SVR in baseline for the Audio-Visual Emotion Challenge (AVEC 2014) database [1]. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

Constrained maximum weighted bipartite matching:a novel approach to radio broadcast scheduling

Given a set of radio broadcast programs, the radio broadcast scheduling problem is to allocate a set of devices to transmit the programs to achieve the optimal sound quality. In this article, we propose a complete algorithm to solve the problem, which is based on a branch-and-bound(BnB) algorithm. We formulate the problem with a new model, called constrained maximum weighted bipartite matching(CMBM),i.e., the maximum matching problem on a weighted bipartite graph with constraints. For the reduced matching problem, we propose a novel BnB algorithm by introducing three new strategies, including the highest quality first, the least conflict first and the more edge first. We also establish an upper bound estimating function for pruning the search space of the algorithm. The experimental results show that our new algorithm can quickly find the optimal solution for the radio broadcast scheduling problem at small scales, and has higher scalab.lity for the problems at large scales than the existing complete algorithm.

In this paper, we propose a reconfgurable electrode, RElectrode, using a microfuidic technique that can change the geometry and material properties of the electrode to satisfy the needs for sensing a variety of diferent types of user input through touch/touchless gestures, pressure, temperature, and distinguish between diferent types of objects or liquids. Unlike the existing approaches, which depend on the specifc-shaped electrode for particular sensing (e.g., coil for inductive sensing), RElectrode enables capacity, inductance, resistance/pressure, temperature, pH sensings all in a single package. We demonstrate the design and fabrication of the microfuidic structure of our RElectrode, evaluate its sensing performance through several studies, and provide some unique applications. RElectrode demonstrates technical feasibility and application values of integrating physical and biochemical properties of microfuidics into novel sensing interfaces. © 2021 ACM.

This paper describes a new tangible programming tool - - TanPro-Kit which was designed for children aged 5 to 9. It consists of programming blocks and a LED pad. The LED pad presents visual animations and audible feedback according to the arrangement of blocks with which children make program to play a maze game. Aiming at lowering the cost of TanPro-Kit, we adopted LED, RFID, wireless and infrared technology to develop the whole system. The system acquires the programming blocks' physical information which is then translated into programming semantic. TanPro-Kit is low-cost, which is more acceptable in developing countries. We ran a user study with 16 children involved, which showed TanPro-Kit to be attractive to children and easy to learn and use. Copyright 2013 ACM.

Three-dimensional (3D) displays become more and more popular in many fields, because they can provide amazing visual effects. However, visual fatigue as one of the critical factors has seriously impeded the wide range of applications of 3D technology. Electrocardiograph (ECG) and electrooculogram (EOG) have been widely used for monitoring visual fatigue. In this paper, one more objective and effective visual fatigue evaluation model is proposed. Subjective scores (SS), heart rates (HR), blink frequency (BF), Sympathetic activity, Vagal activity, Sympathetic-vagal ratio (a measure of autonomic balance), Average of NN intervals (NN-MEAN) and Standard deviation of NN intervals (SDNN) of all subjects were collected to analyze the change of visual fatigue during the continuous viewing 3D/2D movie. The results showed that SS, HR, BF, Sympathetic activity and SDNN all increase with visual fatigue while NN-MEAN and Vagal activity decrease. As shown by the result of subjective scoring, the visual fatigue has an overall trend of increasing when viewing both 2D and 3D videos and it is higher in 3D condition than in 2D. Based on the results above, two models were built to predict visual fatigue from above indicates during continuous viewing 2D and 3D video processes respectively. The performance of the models makes a good prediction of visual fatigue. © (2016) by SID-the Society for Information Display. All rights reserved.

Stereoscopic displays are promising and have many applications in various fields because they can provide amazing visual effects. However, one of the inevitable problems is that they also cause visual fatigue after durative viewing. Recent years, many researches have been proposed on the visual fatigue during stereoscopic viewing. But there are very few researches on the visual fatigue during a continuous viewing process, especially for those combine both subjective and objective evaluation. Besides, with the development and popularization of mobile devices, it is now possible for users to experience stereoscopic effects using mobile devices anytime and anywhere. In this paper, a comprehensive evaluation method is proposed. Subjective scores, Electrocardiograph (ECG) and eye movement of all subjects were collected when they were viewing stereoscopic videos. These data were then used to analyze the change of the visual fatigue during viewing. A mobile device was adopted and a comparative experiment was designed to assess the change of the visual fatigue when viewing 2D and 3D content respectively. Eighteen subjects were employed in the experiment, and the results show that the visual fatigue is generally greater when viewing 3D contents than when viewing similar 2D contents. © 2015 SID.
