With the sharp increasing demand of the indoor coverage and network capacity, dense femtocells are the ultimate target of the femto cellular network deployment in urban environment. However, dense femtocell deployment could introduce excessive inter-femtocell interference (IFI). To address this problem, this paper proposes a distributed power self-optimization scheme for the downlink of dense femtocell networks. First, a noncooperative power self-optimization game framework is established based on the exact potential game, which is demonstrated to converge to a pure and unique Nash Equilibrium. Then, a novel convex pricing mechanism is presented to price the transmit power of femtocells. Finally, combined with Firefly Intelligence Optimization (FIO), an effective power self-optimization algorithm with guaranteed convergence is proposed to achieve the Nash Equilibrium. With practical LTE parameters and 3GPP dualstrip femtocell model, simulation results show that the proposed scheme dramatically reduce femtocells transmit power while improving the throughput of dense femtocell networks compared to the scheme with non-linear pricing.

Femtocells have attracted growing attentions in academia, industry, and standardization forums in recent years. However, most of existing works on femtocell networks are focused on spectrum efficiency and interference mitigation, energy efficiency aspect is neglected. In this paper, we investigate the maximization of energy efficiency of downlink OFDMA dense femtocell networks by efficient resource allocation. To decrease the complexity, joint subchannel allocation and power control are decomposed into two steps. Power control has been modeled as a non-cooperative game, a closed-form best response of transmit power is obtained. Considering fairness and low complexity, a fair time-averaged subchannel allocation metric have been derived out. Based on that, we propose a distributed suboptimal subchannel allocation and optimal power control algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has a low complexity with slight loss of energy efficiency compared with Round-Robin Scheduling and a noncooperative energy-efficient power optimization algorithm.

Echo state network (ESN), which efficiently models nonlinear dynamic systems, has been proposed as a special form of recurrent neural network. However, most of the proposed ESNs consist of complex reservoir structures, leading to excessive computational cost. Recently, minimum complexity ESNs were proposed and proved to exhibit high performance and low computational cost. In this paper, we propose a simple deterministic ESN with a loop reservoir, i.e., an ESN with an adjacent-feedback loop reservoir. The novel reservoir is constructed by introducing regular adjacent feedback based on the simplest loop reservoir. Only a single free parameter is tuned, which considerably simplifies the ESN construction. The combination of a simplified reservoir and fewer free parameters provides superior prediction performance. In the benchmark datasets and real-world tasks, our scheme obtains higher prediction accuracy with relatively low complexity, compared to the classic ESN and the minimum complexity ESN. Furthermore, we prove that all the linear ESNs with the simplest loop reservoir possess the same memory capacity, arbitrarily converging to the optimal value.
