In order to satisfy the rapid load adjustment requirements of coal-fired units in the situation of alternate electrical power system, the optimal load dispatch in power plant prevents frequent coal mills operation based on speediness is studied in this paper. Firstly, the mathematical formulation of PPLD with POZs based on speediness is presented, and then strategy of POZs constraints and improved GA-TS algorithm to find the optimal solution are introduced. Finally, through simulation the effectiveness of the mathematical formulation of PPLD with POZs based on speediness is tested. The simulation result show: when the load is distributed with the economy and speediness as target separately, the distribution results are significantly different, and the load adjustment time with the aim of speediness is obviously shorter than that of economy. It shows that the optimal load dispatch in power plants based on speediness is an effective control strategy for the rapid load adjustment of units, which can contribute to the further improvement of the operating flexibility of coal-fired units in the new energy power system situation.

This paper presents a real-time pollution monitoring model of convection heating surfaces based on coal online soft sensing, This model reality the optimization calculation of clean factor and get the information of coal moisture, ash content and ultimate only according to the existing measuring points and data in the Distributed control system (DCS) of thermal power plants, no need to use additional equipment. Used this technique in 1000MW power units and the result shows that, the computational accuracy of clean factor has greatly improved, which will correct the boiler blowing operation. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Combined with the thermal system analysis, the mathematical model for selecting the optimal initial pressure of the power unit is established based on the comprehensive consideration of the effect of main steam pressure on governing stage efficiency, steam feed pump consumption and flow passage efficiency. Then the steam pressure with the maximum unit efficiency is searched using variable condition calculation. With quantitative calculations of N600-16.7/537/537-I unit of Pan Shan thermal power plant taken as an example, the optimal initial pressure is obtained by exhaustive method around the 75% load point. The results reveal that the unit power, heat absorption and unit efficiency all increase with the increase of the main steam pressure. However, the increasing velocity of efficiency is less than heat absorption when main steam pressure attains to certain value, which makes the unit efficiency begin to decrease. Therefore, this main steam pressure is the optimal initial point to be searched. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Considering the electricity price’s volatility and various elements which affect the price in the electricity market, the paper presents hybrid model for the day-ahead electricity market clearing price forecasting. The paper adopts autoregressive moving average (ARMAX) model to reveal the linear relationship between power load and electricity price;the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH) model to reveal the heteroskedasticity properties of residual. Simultaneously the paper presents the inexactness and irrationality that modeling by the historical data long ago to forecast the price with the change of the time, then presents the rolling forecast that constantly using the latest data to modeling the ARMAX-AR-GARCH model. To reveal the nonlinear relationship between power load and electricity price, the paper adopts least squares support vector machine (LS-SVM). Using the proposed method, the day-ahead electricity prices of California electricity market are forecasted, prediction results show the efficiency of the proposed method.

For the problem of the abandoned large-scale wind power currently, in order to improve the utilization of wind power and make full use of wind resources, a method of using wind power to heat the condensed water through electrothermal furnace is proposed. On the basis of mass and energy conservation, through analyzing variable condition of the regenerative heating system and water-cooled condenser, the dynamic mathematical model is created and then the dynamic influence of condensed water temperature on the economy of thermal power plant is studied. This paper, taking a typical 660MW water-cooled unit as an example, discusses the dynamic characteristics of steam turbine and energy-saving effects of this method. Results show that obvious economic effects can be obtained through non-grid-connected wind power heating the low-pressure condensed water, which can reduce the steam extraction flow from steam turbine, improve the thermal efficiency of thermal power plant and save the amount of coal. It has positive significance to digging energy-saving potential of plant. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In this paper, genetic algorithm and modified dynamic programming are applied to path planning of robotic fish for the first time. Using grid method to the environment modeling and applying genetic algorithm to the path planning, an optimal or sub-optimal robot path can be obtained. Since the robotic fish can't track linear motion, the robot path can be seen as several circular arc. Based on the optimal path obtained via genetic algorithm, modified dynamic programming algorithm is proposed to calculate the shortest circular arc path, fish velocity and direction in every step. Finally the experiment on the robotic fish control software shows the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2011 Intl Journal of Adv Mechatr.

A novel control algorithm is applied to control superheated steam temperature in power plants. Since the disturbances existed in practical processes are probably non-Gaussian, the performance index is constructed by minimizing the entropy and mean value of tracking error besides the constraints on control energy. The optimal control solution is given and applied to control superheated steam temperature in a power plant. The simulation results verify its effectiveness.

A new Robust Least Squares Support Vector Machine for Regression with Outliers

The least squares support vector machine (LS-SVM) is sensitive to noises or outliers. To address the drawback, a new robust least squares support vector machine (RLS-SVM) is introduced to solve the regression problem with outliers. A fuzzy membership function, which is determined by heuristic method, is assigned to each training sample as a weight. For each data point, firstly a deleted input neighborhood is found when the high-dimension feature space of input is focused on. Then the new field is reformulated after the output is brought in the neighborhood which we have found. The fuzzy membership function (weight) is set according to the distance from the data point to the center of its neighborhood and the radius of the neighborhood, which implies the probability to be an outlier. Two benchmark simulation experiments and analysis are presented to verify that the performance is improved.
