We present an approach to optimize the MapReduce architecture, which could make heterogeneous cloud environment more stable and efficient. Fundamentally different from previous methods, our approach introduces the machine learning technique into MapReduce framework, and dynamically improve MapReduce algorithm according to the statistics result of machine learning. There are three main aspects: learning machine performance, reduce task assignment algorithm based on learning result, and speculative execution optimization mechanism. Furthermore, there are two important features in our approach. First, the MapReduce framework can obtain nodes' performance values in the cluster through machine learning module. And machine learning module will daily calibrate nodes' performance values to make an accurate assessment of cluster performance. Second, with the optimization of tasks assignment algorithm, we can maximize the performance of heterogeneous clusters. According to our evaluation result, the cluster performance could have 19% improvement in current heterogeneous cloud environment, and the stability of cluster has greatly enhanced.

In this paper, a sort-based relay selection algorithm is proposed for decode-and-forward wireless relay systems. The proposed algorithm can reduce computational complexity and system overhead in the relay selection for practical decode-and-forward wireless relay systems with multiple sources and multiple relays. This would be a very important improvement. Firstly, the sufficient and necessary conditions for a relay to be feasible to a source are derived. By adopting relay transmission via its feasible relay, the source can improve channel capacity compared to direct transmission. Then, a sort-based relay selection algorithm is proposed based on the sufficient and necessary conditions. In the proposed algorithm, each relay makes decision on its feasibility individually, but the final source-relay paring decision is made in a centralized manner. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can provide considerable system performance improvement over the existing algorithm. Especially at low signal-to-noise (SNR) region, the performance of the proposed algorithm almost reaches the optimal one.

Understanding spatial and temporal dynamics of mobile internet services in cellular data network can be of great help to network management and service provisioning. To this end, we conduct the detailed measurement analysis of spatial and temporal dynamics from point of view of traffic generated by subscribers. The analyzation is based on a large-scale data set collected from a commercial ISP covering an entire city in Southern China. We analyze individual subscriber behaviors and observe a significant variation in network usage among subscribers. We characterize mobile internet services spatial and temporal dynamics and identity their relation to traffic volume. The data set tracks more than 3 million mobile subscribers. To handle the problem of big data processing, the data are parallel processed using MapReduce programming model, a novel framework for distributed computing with proved high efficiency and low cost features. Generally, our observations deliver important insights into mobile internet service and mobile subscriber behavior.

In this paper, we propose an architecture to introduce traffic classification techniques into the OpenFlow-based SDN network, which enables the network to be application-aware, so the network could distinguish various applications flows and know the requirements of different flows.
