Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), is one of the most popular mob ile data services in China. The current MMS user base is still undergoing steady growth with the popularizat ion of 3G in China. Hence, a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics of MMS traffic is necessary to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in network p lanning. In this paper, based on massive data captured fro m a backbone node for half a year, we provide a detailed analysis of MMS traffic, including the MMS successful receipt rate, the distribution of MMS content length, the distribution of MMS receipt duration and the distribution of average MMs transmission rate. Furthermore, we used K-means clustering method to evaluate the performances of the cell sites in the MMS network. All the analyses in this paper were based on our cloudy-computing platform, and the results also showed that this platform is very useful in network traffic analysis.

Nowadays, massive data continues to produce, which increases the scale of the database tables, a lot of performance problems come with the procedure of updating massive data tables. In this paper, to solve these problems, we propose new solutions based on Oracle RowID. In this way, we can update tables quickly. On the basis of studying the structure of Oracle data block and the RowID, we choose a flow dataset to test our solutions. The test results show that the new solutions can significantly shorten the execution time, and reduce the occupation of system resources.

This paper illustrates a semi-active handover algorithm on the integrated utilization of RSS and location, according to characteristics of a cellular network and WiFi. While connecting to a cellular network, MS (Mobile Station) is in the passive mode, where BS (Base Station) informs the MS to hand over on the basis of location information. In contrast, MS in the WiFi link chooses the optimal AP (Access Point) or switches to the cellular network in light of the detection algorithm proposed by this paper. The final emulation could prove the semi-active mechanism to effectively prevent the occurrence of a ping-pong effect, and improve performance to the right network.

The interference channel of multi-antenna source-destination pairs with a multiple-input-multiple-output relay, which is named as MIMO ICR, is the general network structure in the wireless relay networks. This paper investigates degree of freedom (DOF) of K source-destination pairs MIMO ICR under the power allocation with an optimized interference alignment scheme. In the MIMO ICR, each destination aligns the interference of two hops and uses zero-forcing to eliminate the interference, and the power of the relay is an exponential function of the source's transmitted power P x with the coefficient α. The properties of capacity of the channel can be described by the sum-rate and scaled by the DOF. It has been proved that, the DOF with optimized IA and the exponential power allocation of the relay is proportional with the number of the source-destination pairs K and the coefficient α. The simulation results show that in the condition P x >;0 dB, both the increasing of the source transmitted power and the coefficient α make the sum-rate rising. Meanwhile, the value of DOF of MIMO ICR approaches the value of Kα.

In this paper, a pricing-based resource allocation (PBRA) scheme is proposed in downlink multi-cell orthogonal frequency-division multiple-access (OFDMA) networks. As a powerful means to mitigate inter-cell interference (ICI), base station (BS) coordination (BSC) technology has been considered. We propose to select the set of co-channel users to maximize the system utility based on variable pricing function relating to real-time channel conditions and representing the corresponding interference degree to other coordination cells. The iterative water-filling algorithm is adopted to solve the objective problem based on the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions. Moreover, simulation results prove the substantial performance of the proposed PBRA algorithm.

Handover (HO) is one of the key procedures ensuring that user equipments (UE) can move through the network freely in long term evolution (LTE) systems. The basic idea is to use the handover control parameters, such as HO hysteresis and time-to-trigger (TTT), to enhance the HO success rate. Although TTT can mitigate the ping-pong handover (PPHO) effect, it also causes radio link failure (RLF) due to delayed HO. In this paper, we propose a HO parameter optimization algorithm where TTT is replaced by a statistical threshold value - S threshold , which can reduce the RLF rate. Both HO hysteresis and S threshold have been designed and implemented in a dynamic system level simulator and have been discussed for adaptive parameter combinations depending on different UE speed ranges in a high-speed railway scenario. Simulation results show that the optimized algorithm performs better than the traditional A3 event-based HO algorithm in high-speed railway networks.

In this paper we formulate to resolve the distributed power control problem in the two-tier OFDMA femtocell networks. The network structure is comprised of the macrocells and each macrocell is further underlaid with several femtocells. The problem is formulated as a Stackelberg game with the macrocell base stations as the leaders and the femtocell access points as the followers in order to obtain the utility maximization of them. Then, the Stackelberg equilibrium for the proposed game is evaluated. It is established to exist and be unique under the proposition of an effective distributed interference price bargaining algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed power control scheme is effective in improving the outage and throughput performance of macrocell users while the effects on femtocell users are acceptable.

Multi-relay selection scheme for cooperative relaying considering the signal to noise ratio (SNR) maximization and power efficiency optimization is proposed in this paper. In cooperative relay networks, the selected relay nodes have great impact on the system performance. It is an optimization problem for best cooperative relay node number and which relay nodes are selected. The exhaustive search can solve this problem but the complexity will increase exponentially with the network size, i.e., the number of relays in the network. This paper proposes two novel quantum particle swarm optimization (QPSO) based relay selection schemes with the SNR optimization target and power efficiency target respectively. Simulation results show that the QPSO-based multi-relay selection scheme has the ability to search global optimal solution compared with other multi-relay selection algorithm in literature.

network coding has contributed a lot for improving the throughput of network. In scenarios with packet losses, insufficient reception of encoded packets causes NC losses which are expensive. Multi-Generation Mixing network Coding (MGM-NC) increases the successful decoding probability through grouping different generations into a mixing-generation. However, the cost is high calculation complexity and large decoding time delay. In this paper, an improved method of MGM-NC is proposed, which achieves extremely low consumption, while maintaining its excellent performance resisting to NC losses. system performance is improved in three respects compared with MGM-NC, including decoding time delay, calculation complexity and transport overhead. Both theoretical and simulations are presented to demonstrate the improved method has a better performance than both traditional network coding and MGM-NC.
