To solve the problem of vertical handover in heterogeneous wireless networks, this paper proposes a seamless handover method for heterogeneous wireless networks based on software defined network (SDN) architecture. The proposed method requires SDN control plane to periodically collect attributes of wireless networks so as to evaluate network performance. Considering varied types of services have different requirements and users have different preferences, fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) and multi-path transmission control protocol (MPTCP) are applied to select the most appropriate target network and execute seamless handover, respectively. Compared to existing methods, the proposed method jointly considers service requirements, user preferences, and mobility management for network selection and guarantees service continuity during vertical handover. Simulation results show that the proposed method makes a comprehensive decision on network selection. In terms of handover times, the proposed method achieves up to 17.4% and 4.5% reduction compared to received signal strength based algorithm and fuzzy multiple criteria group decision making based algorithm, respectively. The proposed method also maintains at least one subflow connected during the handover process and achieves seamless handover.

Since the energy consumption has been increasing, the proportion of nuclear power, wind power and photovoltaic power generation has been on the rise. The study of energy Internet has been an active area of research. As an important part of the energy Internet, the intelligent energy management system has also received great attention. This paper make a study of minimizing the cost of electricity on the user side by utilizing the energy management algorithm in the energy Internet. In considering how to reduce users' cost, most studies focus on reducing the power consumption or reduce their electricity expenditures by responding to real-time prices, electricity can only be bought from the grid in these models, but users can sell excess electricity to the grid in the energy Internet model. This paper studies the problem of minimizing the total electricity cost while guaranteeing quality of service geared to the randomness of device access and time diversity of electricity price. We model the problem as a typical large-scale linear mixed-integer programming model and propose an efficient solution method. We show through simulation that the proposed algorithm can minimize the average charging payment of users and control the electricity trading volume. © 2019 IEEE.

Residual Attention Fusion network for Single Image Super-Resolution

Recently, a very deep convolutional neural network (CNN) demonstrated influential performance in the field of single image super-resolution (SISR). However, most of the CNN-based methods focus on designing deeper and wider network structures alone and do not use the hierarchical and global features in the input image. Therefore, we proposed a residual attention fusion network (RAFN), which is an improved residual fusion (RF) framework, to effectively extract hierarchical features for use in single-image super-resolution. The proposed framework comprises two residual fusion structures composed of several residual and fusion modules, and a continuous memory mechanism is realized by adding a long and short jump connection. The network focuses on learning more effective features. Furthermore, to maximize the power of the RF framework, we introduced global context attention (GCA) module that can model the global context and capture long-distance dependencies. The final RAFN was constructed by applying the proposed RF framework to the GCA blocks. Extensive experiments showed that the proposed network achieved improved performance in the SISR method with fewer parameters, as compared to the methods proposed in previous studies.

Optimized trajectory design in uav based cellular networks for 3d users: A double q-learning approach

In this paper, the problem of trajectory design of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for maximizing the number of satisfied users is studied in a UAV based cellular network where the UAV works as a flying base station that serves users, and the user indicates its satisfaction in terms of completion of its data request within an allowable maximum waiting time. The trajectory design is formulated as an optimization problem whose goal is to maximize the number of satisfied users. To solve this problem, a machine learning framework based on double Qlearning algorithm is proposed. The algorithm enables the UAV to find the optimal trajectory that maximizes the number of satisfied users. Compared to the traditional learning algorithms, such as Q-learning that selects and evaluates the action using the same Q-table, the proposed algorithm can decouple the selection from the evaluation, therefore avoid overestimation which leads to sub-optimal policies. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve up to 19.4% and 14.1% gains in terms of the number of satisfied users compared to random algorithm and Q-learning algorithm. The popularity of IEEE 802. 11 based wireless local area network（ WLAN） increased significantly in recent years and resulted in the dense deployment of WLANs. While densification can contribute to increasing coverage,it could also lead to increasing interference and cannot insure high spatial reuse due to the current physical carrier sensing of IEEE 802. 11. To tackle these challenges,the dynamic sensitivity control（ DSC） is considered in IEEE802. 11 ax,which dynamically selects the appropriate carrier sensing threshold（ CST） to improve spectrum efficiency and enhance spatial reuse in densely deployed network. A dynamic Q-learning based CST selection method is proposed to enable a network to select the optimal CST according to the channel condition. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides 40% aggregate throughput gain of a dense network when compared with legacy IEEE 802. 11.

Analysis and Optimization of Service Delay for Multi-quality Videos in Multi-tier Heterogeneous network with Random Caching

Aiming to minimize service delay, we propose a new random caching scheme in device-to-device (D2D)-assisted heterogeneous network. To support diversified viewing qualities of multimedia video services, each video file is encoded into a base layer (BL) and multiple enhancement layers (ELs) by scalable video coding (SVC). A super layer, including the BL and several ELs, is transmitted to every user. We define and quantify the service delay of multi-quality videos by deriving successful transmission probabilities when a user is served by a D2D helper, a small-cell base station (SBS) and a macro-cell base station (MBS). We formulate a delay minimization problem subject to the limited cache sizes of D2D helpers and SBSs. The structure of the optimal solutions to the problem is revealed, and then an improved standard gradient projection method is designed to effectively obtain the solutions. Both theoretical analysis and Monte-Carlo simulations validate the successful transmission probabilities. Compared with three benchmark caching policies, the proposed SVC-based random caching scheme is superior in terms of reducing the service delay. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A Machine Learning Approach for Task and Resource Allocation in Mobile Edge Computing Based networks

In this paper, a joint task, spectrum, and transmit power allocation problem is investigated for a wireless network in which the base stations (BSs) are equipped with mobile edge computing (MEC) servers to jointly provide computational and communication services to users. Each user can request one computational task from three types of computational tasks. Since the data size of each computational task is different, as the requested computational task varies, the BSs must adjust their resource (subcarrier and transmit power) and task allocation schemes to effectively serve the users. This problem is formulated as an optimization problem whose goal is to minimize the maximal computational and transmission delay among all users. A multi-stack reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm is developed to solve this problem. Using the proposed algorithm, each BS can record the historical resource allocation schemes and users’ information in its multiple stacks to avoid learning the same resource allocation scheme and users’ states, thus improving the convergence speed and learning efficiency. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed algorithm can reduce the number of iterations needed for convergence and the maximal delay among all users by up to 18% and 11.1% compared to the standard Q-learning algorithm. The traffic explosion and the rising of diverse requirements lead to many challenges for traditional mobile network architecture on flexibility, scalability, and deployability. To meet new requirements in the 5 G era, service based architecture is introduced into mobile networks. The monolithic network elements(e.g., MME, PGW, etc.) are split into smaller network functions to provide customized services. However, the management and deployment of network functions in service based 5 G core network are still big challenges. In this paper, we propose a novel management architecture for 5 G service based core network based on NFV and SDN. Combined with SDN, NFV and edge computing, the proposed framework can provide distributed and on-demand deployment of network functions, service guaranteed network slicing, flexible orchestration of network functions and optimal workload allocation. Simulations are conducted to show that the proposed framework and algorithm are effective in terms of reducing network operating cost.

In Delay Tolerant networks (DTN), the nodes are sparse and intermittently connected, the end-to-end connectivity between nodes is rare. To overcome the intermittent connectivity, DTN routing protocols employ the 'store-carry-forward' strategy to transmit messages. A message is delivered to a destination node from a source node via opportunistic contacts between intermediate nodes. In addition, nodes in DTN have a feature of community. In a community, network node meet each other regularly, while between communities there are only few encounter opportunities. In this paper, we propose a community-based opportunistic routing protocol which works in two modes, the Intra-community mode and the inter-community mode. In Intra-community message transmission, we adopt reasonable forwarding conditions and E-PRoPHET algorithm to design the transmission mechanism. In inter-community message transmission, we use the communication probability and the remaining energy to select the most suitable forwarding node. All of these are designed to limit the number of copies of messages, so as to ensure the performance of the algorithm. We extensively simulated our proposal and have shown that our proposed protocol can raise the delivery ratio, reduce the delivery delay and improve the efficiency of forwarding messages. © 2018 IEEE.
