In this paper, a compact broadband bandpass filter (BPF) using triple-mode stepped-impedance stub-loaded resonator (TMSISLR) is proposed. The TMSISLR is composed of an impedance-transforming unit and two asymmetrical open-ended stepped-impedance stubs (SIS) at the center. By simply adjusting the impedances of the SIS, the resonant frequencies of the TMSISLR can be flexibly changed. The interdigital coupled-lines are adopted to feed the proposed TMSISLR. This BPF can realize wide bandwidth, low insertion loss, high selectivity, and deep stopband rejection simultaneously. Finally, the proposed BPF is simulated, fabricated, and measured. The measured results show that the impedance bandwidth under -16.7 dB is 86% from 1.89 to 4.75 GHz, while the insertion loss is smaller than 1.47 dB. The measured insertion loss is larger than 30 dB at both low- and upper-stopband (from 0 to 1.27 GHz and 6.03 to 7.66 GHz). The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated counterpart.

The multi-user multiple-input single-output (MU-MISO) visible light communications (VLC) system, which can serve multi-users simultaneously, have been widely studied in recent years. Dimming control is one of the main topics in VLC systems. In this paper, we proposed a novel transmit antenna selection based spatial dimming (TAS-SD) scheme for zero forcing (ZF) precoded MU-MISO VLC systems. By taking full advantage of the channel state information at both the transmitter and the users, the proposed TAS-SD scheme can combine the precoding and transmit antenna selection (TAS) technique together, and effectively improves the performance of dimmable MU-MISO systems. Simulation results show that the proposed TAS-SD scheme has significant bit error-ratio performance gains over the conventional analog dimming (AD) scheme at various dimming proportions and user positions. These advantages make it a promising candidate dimming scheme for ZF precoded MU-MISO VLC systems. © 2017 IEEE.

A smart campus refers to a campus where modern information and communication technologies bring more convenience to campus life, assist campus users to improve and more efficiently accomplish their daily activities, and enhance social interactions. Regarding the high demand of services such as mining campus users' semantic information, building augmented reality assisted mobile campus and smart class, we establish an innovative platform, namely, WiCloud, based on Mobile Edge Computing, to provide multiple innovative applications towards a smart campus. We first briefly present the architecture, implementation, and the basic functions of our WiCloud platform. We then elaborate three highly innovative applications, (i) campus users' semantic information analysis, (ii) mobile augmented reality assisted smart campus, and (iii) smart class, that are developed based on WiCloud. Multiple examples of each innovative application demonstrate the innovative applications based on WiCloud perform well and have achieved the goal of benefiting campus users and building a smart campus. © 2017 IEEE.

Anomaly detection in smart grid based on encoder-decoder framework with recurrent neural network

Anomaly detection in smart grid is critical to enhance the reliability of power systems. Excessive manpower has to be involved in analyzing the measurement data collected from intelligent motoring devices while performance of anomaly detection is still not satisfactory. This is mainly because the inherent spatio-temporality and multi-dimensionality of the measurement data cannot be easily captured. In this paper, we propose an anomaly detection model based on encoder-decoder framework with recurrent neural network （RNN）. In the model, an input time series is reconstructed and an anomaly can be detected by an unexpected high reconstruction error. Both Manhattan distance and the edit distance are used to evaluate the difference between an input time series and its reconstructed one. Finally, we validate the proposed model by using power demand data from University of California, Riverside （UCR） time series classification archive and IEEE 39 bus system simulation data. Results from the analysis demonstrate that the proposed encoder-decoder framework is able to successfully capture anomalies with a precision higher than 95%.

Massive MIMO is one of tile enabling technologies tbr beyond 4G and 5G systems due to its ability to provide beamforming gain and reduce interference Dual-polarized antenna is widely adopted to accommodate a large number of antenna elements in limited space. However, current CSI（channel state information） feedback schemes developed in LTE for conventional MIMO systems are not efficient enough for massive MIMO systems since the overhead increases almost linearly with the number of antenna. Moreover, the codebook for massive MIMO will be huge and difficult to design with the LTE methodology. This paper proposes a novel CSI feedback scheme named layered Multi-paths Information based CSI Feedback （LMPIF）, which can achieve higher spectrum efficiency for dual-polarized antenna system with low feedback overhead. The MIMO channel is decomposed into long term components （multipath directions and amplitudes） and short term components （multipath phases）. The relationship between the two components and the optimal precoder is derived in closed form. To reduce the overhead, different granularities in feedback time have been applied for the long term components and short term components Link and system level simulation results prove that LMPIF can improve performance considerably with low CSI feedback overhead.

In this paper, we consider the spectrum sensing problem of detecting a primary signal of a macro cell in a cognitive radio network by employing multiple dense small cell base stations. In consideration of the number of cooperative small cells (sample dimension) is comparable to the number of sample (sample size) due to the dense deployment of small cells, sample covariance matrix is no more a good estimator of statistical covariance matrix. A consistent-estimated eigenvalues based cooperative spectrum sensing (CEE-CSS) algorithm is proposed by utilizing consistent estimators of eigenvalues which are proven to be consistent when the sample dimension goes to infinity at the same rate as sample size. Effect of the eigenvalue splitting condition on sensing performance of the CEE-CSS is analyzed through simulations. Further simulation results present that the proposed CEE-CSS enables better sensing performance than a maximum-minimum eigenvalue detection based on oracle approximating shrinkage estimator (OAS-MME). © 2017 IEEE.

Increasingly more mobile Internet traffic is produced which contains ample personal information related to user mobility and website browsing behavior. Prior research has attempted to recommend friends based on Global Position system (GPS) in location based social networks (LBSN). However, the study of friend recommendation in general social network according to position from the base station is relatively understudied. This paper introduces a novel feature set extracted from mobile Internet traffic according to base station location and Uniform Resource Locator (URL). We train classification models using these features to predict friendship between pairs of Weibo users. Results show that both base station location and URL when acted alone can already effectively reflect friendships even in general social network. We further show that by fusing the two features together, the model obtains even better performance. Finally, we demonstrate that the location and URL features can improve prediction performance than only using the common friends.

Massive MIMO system uses the transmitter channel state information (CSI) to preprocess the transmitted data, which can effectively reduce the interference and enhance the Massive MIMO system capacity. In the actual transmission process, reciprocity is subject to many factors, resulting in application difficulties. In this paper, we mainly study the influence of RF device's noncardiosis on channel reciprocity of Massive MIMO system. Combined with channel estimation based on pilot signal and FRRH subspace tracking algorithm, this paper proposes a channel reciprocity calibration method for Massive MIMO. Finally, the compensation effect of the compensation algorithm is verified by simulation. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2017.

Heterogeneous cloud RANs have been proposed as a cost-effective solution to promote wireless network coverage and data rate. However, many urgent issues, such as cross-tier interference avoidance, converged network management and the fulfillment of consistent experience quality, still need to be tackled. SDN and virtualization empower the high efficiency management of networks, based on which, a QoE driven RAN architecture (QvHran) is proposed. QvHran aims at providing a new organization and management norm to perform consistent management for future H-CRANS. We design the QvHran architecture from both management and deployment aspect, and also study the relationships between them. Based on the proposed architecture, its key supporting technologies are also presented, include heterogeneous resource virtualization, network situation awareness, and elastic allocation of virtual resources. Lastly, a simulation is given to demonstrate the elastic resource allocation in QvHran. Simulation results has shown that RAN performance can be improved a lot in QvHran. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2017.
