The Manipulator of the Tian Gong space Station has 7 joints. In order to complete the function and task of the manipulator, the rotation angle of each joint is greater than ±270°, which is much larger than the 360° motion range of general robots. In order to meet the requirements of joint rotation angle limit, a mechatronics angle limit device is designed, which has the functions of electrical limit and mechanical limit, and can meet the requirements of joint ±270° mechanical and electrical limit. The device has passed the functional experiment and life experiment, and is in good condition in on-orbit application, which has reference significance for realizing large angle limit of space robot joints. © 2021 IEEE.

Conventional synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging methods based on the Nyquist sampling theorem encounters the dilemma of balancing imaging quality and resource consumption. In order to solve the problem, we propose a novel network to optimize the azimuth sampling pattern for sparse SAR imaging. We harness the impressive information extraction capabilities inherent in deep neural networks to efficiently segregate valuable information from clutter. This empowers us to extract more pertinent data while minimizing pulse utilization. Additionally, we have integrated the nonuniform fast Fourier transform (NUFFT) MF operator into the network-based SAR imaging framework, ensuring both efficiency and viability of the proposed approach. Experiments on real SAR scene data have been conducted, and both visual comparisons and numerical analysis demonstrate the efficiency and superiority of our method in the field of sparse SAR imaging. © The Institution of Engineering & technology 2023.

The service life and stability of flexible pressure sensors vary with the interfacial toughness of these multilayered structures, which are principally fabricated by adhesive bonding, hot melting, and interconnection. However, balancing the trade-off between interface toughness and sensing performance under complex stresses remains challenging. To address this issue, a foam sandwich structure with gradient modulus is constructed by integrating a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)/carbon nanotube electrode with a selectively foamed TPU/ionic liquid dielectric. The synthesis is fundamentally inspired by the molecular chain entanglements and hydrogen bonds formed at the electrode/dielectric interface owing to solvent diffusion due to secondary solubilization and differential foaming temperatures. The synthesized sensing structure exhibits ultra-high toughness (3000 J/m2) and dynamic impact resistance (1 J);meanwhile, the sensor shows an ultra-wide sensing range (0.02–2000 kPa), high sensitivity (1.7 nF/kPa), and excellent service stability up to 50,000 cycles under compressive stress (100 kPa), shear stress (30 kPa), bending stress (bending radius of 1.6 mm), and complex stress of 120 kPa (compression stress of 116 kPa and shear stress of 31 kPa). Additionally, on integration into robot grippers, the sensor provides accurate feedback on multi-stage object gripping and can resist shear stress while gripping high-weight objects. This study provides a new strategy for fabricating flexible pressure sensors that can be effectively used under complex stresses. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Two-decadal shifts in phytoplankton functional taxa (2002–2022) in response to extreme marine heatwaves

Phytoplankton play a crucial role in the primary productivity of ocean ecosystems, rendering changes in their populations particularly consequential. The effects of extreme sea surface temperature (SST) on phytoplankton are noteworthy. However, the direct characterization of total biomass by chlorophyll for analysis is inaccurate for phytoplankton functional taxa (PFTs) with different sensitivity to SST. Through the method of Diagnostic pigment analysis (DPA), these organisms can be classified into six primary functional taxa based on their distinctive pigments, which play a vital role in elucidating their ecological functions and dynamics. This study employed optical remote sensing to reconstruct daily concentrations and occupancy of six PFTs in the Eastern China Marginal Sea (ECMS) over the past 20 years. Causal analyses were conducted to identify regions with varying sensitivity to SST changes and further explore the corresponding impacts on phytoplankton concentrations. Results revealed that high-causality areas in the Bohai Sea (BS) and Yellow Sea (YS) were primarily located in nearshore waters. In contrast, high-causality regions in the East China Sea (ECS) were farther offshore, while nearshore areas exhibited lower causality. The high-causality subregions experienced significant fluctuations in phytoplankton concentrations, particularly during marine heatwave (MHW) events, with a prevailing trend of decline in taxon concentrations driven by elevated SST. In comparison, low-causality subregions displayed weaker synchronization with SST changes, as other factors influenced taxa concentrations more prominently. Notably, while phytoplankton concentrations fluctuated significantly during extreme MHW events, they eventually reverted to baseline levels. However, with the increasing frequency and intensity of MHWs due to global warming, the capacity for phytoplankton to recover under such repeated stress remains uncertain. In this manuscript, a dual-polarized wideband wide beamwidth magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna for millimeter-wave mobile communication is proposed. As can be seen from the simulation results, this design exhibits excellent performance. Owing to the mutual resonances of the magnetic dipole and the electric dipole, large bandwidths of 64.8% and 59% (18.4 GHz-33 GHz and 17.29 GHz-33.9 GHz) are obtained for the two polarizations, respectively. The isolation between the two ports is greater than 25 dB. By loading metal vias, the antenna's beamwidth is widened to more than 100° through the whole operating band. The antenna size is $\mathbf{5}\mathbf{mm}\times \mathbf{5}\mathbf{mm}\times \mathbf{1.72}\mathbf{mm}$ , and this compact structure is quite suitable for using in beam scanning antennas.

The modular origami mechanism has great application prospect. In this paper, origami based on 8R mechanism is designed, the mechanism can be array. The kinematics of the 8R origami mechanism is analyzed, and the model reconstruction and motion bifurcation of the mechanism are found. There are two kinds of 8R mechanism that can satisfy the array: MMMN mechanism and NNNM mechanism. The motion bifurcation and model reconstruction of the mechanism are avoided in the design of thickness-plate origami. Taking into account the bearing capacity of the mechanism, the 8R mechanism of heavy plate origami is designed. The motion bifurcation and model reconstruction of the mechanism are avoided in the design of thickness-plate origami. The twisting direction of MMMN mechanism and NNNM mechanism is opposite. The planar antenna is designed using multiple MMMN mechanisms. The spread area of the planar antenna reaches 1350〖cm〗^2. NNNM mechanism and MMMN mechanism are used to design space deployable mast. The performance of planar antenna and space deployable mast is tested. The space deployable mast has a self-locking function in the unfolded state. The space deployable mast has a load-carrying capacity of more than 41N and requires only 6N folding force. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The mobile node communication in terahertz monopulse system requires narrow beam to align with the mobile target precisely. In this paper, the radiation pattern of four-horn monopulse antenna is analyzed by use of the geometric optics (GO) and aperture field integration method (AFIM), and an efficient placement optimization to reduce the beamwidth of four-horn monopulse is presented. The optimization combines the genetic algorithm (GA) with GO-AFIM. The GA is employed to seek the optimal positions of the four horns, and the GO and AFIM are introduced into the fitness function of GA to evaluate the individual fitness. The optimization result has narrowed the beamwidth and enhanced gain of radiation pattern. Compared with the simulation in full wave software, the proposed method costs less time in pattern analysis and performs more efficiently in placement optimization.
