Multiple Instance Learning (MIL) represents the predominant framework in Whole Slide Image (WSI) classification, covering aspects such as sub-typing, diagnosis, and beyond. Current MIL models predominantly rely on instance-level features derived from pretrained models such as ResNet. These models segment each WSI into independent patches and extract features from these local patches, leading to a significant loss of global spatial context and restricting the model’s focus to merely local features. To address this issue, we propose a novel MIL framework, named SAM-MIL, that emphasizes spatial contextual awareness and explicitly incorporates spatial context by extracting comprehensive, image-level information. The Segment Anything Model (SAM) represents a pioneering visual segmentation foundational model that can capture segmentation features without the need for additional fine-tuning, rendering it an outstanding tool for extracting spatial context directly from raw WSIs. Our approach includes the design of group feature extraction based on spatial context and a SAM-Guided Group Masking strategy to mitigate class imbalance issues. We implement a dynamic mask ratio for different segmentation categories and supplement these with representative group features of categories. Moreover, SAM-MIL divides instances to generate additional pseudo-bags, thereby augmenting the training set, and introduces consistency of spatial context across pseudo-bags to further enhance the model’s performance. Experimental results on the CAMELYON-16 and TCGA Lung Cancer datasets demonstrate that our proposed SAM-MIL model outperforms existing mainstream methods in WSIs classification. The deep learning models are computationally burdensome, and their accuracy depends on the number of labeled datasets used in training. The scarcity of the labeled dataset in industrial machine diagnosis is a significant concern as it is pretty impossible to collect data from faulty machines in industrial environments. To address this issue, in this paper, we presented a few-shot learning-based machine fault diagnosis model on a lightweight SqueezeNet architecture using generated texture images from audio sensor data. Subsets of two public audio datasets, MIMII and ToyADMOS, containing limited data- 10 images per class were used to validate the model. The experimental results demonstrate that the model has exhibited 89.6% and 98.3% accuracy for MIMII and ToyADMOS, respectively, with only ten labeled images of each fault class. As the model has only 73 thousand trainable parameters and requires only 300 KB of memory, it is expected to be deployable in a portal device for machine fault diagnosis.

With the growing prevalence of deep learning in the speech area, speech recognition, voice control, and related applications have become integral parts of people's lives. However, the rise of malicious third-party platforms has introduced significant security concerns, particularly through backdoor attacks. These attacks implant triggers that manipulate speech recognition models to produce specific labels, thereby compromising the system's integrity. Studying speech backdoor attacks is crucial for evaluating the security of speech recognition software, and iden-tifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities. Existing methods for speech backdoor attacks usually employ fixed perturbations as triggers. However, these perturbations may be discernible to the human ear, making them easily detectable. To address this issue, we propose a frequency domain-embedded backdoor attack method based on echo hiding. Echo hiding is a steganography technique based on audio. This method embeds hidden information into the frequency spectrum of the echo signal, leveraging the masking property of the human auditory system. It is difficult to arouse suspicion or detect the presence of hidden information since echo is perceived as a natural phenomenon in auditory perception. Furthermore, it does not cause a significant decrease in audio quality. Experimental results show the effectiveness of our method in different settings.

HairDiffusion: Vivid Multi-Colored Hair Editing via Latent Diffusion

Hair editing is a critical image synthesis task that aims to edit hair color and hairstyle using text descriptions or reference images, while preserving irrelevant attributes (e.g., identity, background, cloth). Many existing methods are based on StyleGAN to address this task. However, due to the limited spatial distribution of StyleGAN, it struggles with multiple hair color editing and facial preservation. Considering the advancements in diffusion models, we utilize Latent Diffusion Models (LDMs) for hairstyle editing. Our approach introduces Multi-stage Hairstyle Blend (MHB), effectively separating control of hair color and hairstyle in diffusion latent space. Additionally, we train a warping module to align the hair color with the target region. To further enhance multi-color hairstyle editing, we fine-tuned a CLIP model using a multi-color hairstyle dataset. Our method not only tackles the complexity of multi-color hairstyles but also addresses the challenge of preserving original colors during diffusion editing. Extensive experiments showcase the superiority of our method in editing multi-color hairstyles while preserving facial attributes given textual descriptions and reference images. © 2024, CC BY.

Scribble-supervised semantic segmentation presents a cost-effective training method that utilizes annotations generated through scribbling. It is valued in attaining high performance while minimizing annotation costs, which has made it highly regarded among researchers. Scribble supervision propagates information from labeled pixels to the surrounding unlabeled pixels, enabling semantic segmentation for the entire image. However, existing methods often ignore the features of classified pixels during feature propagation. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a prototype-based feature augmentation method that leverages feature prototypes to augment scribble supervision. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance on the PASCAL VOC 2012 dataset in scribble-supervised semantic segmentation tasks. Due to its powerful representational capabilities, Transformers have gradually become the mainstream model in the field of machine vision. However, the vast and complex parameters of Transformers impede researchers from gaining a deep understanding of their internal mechanisms, especially error mechanisms. Existing methods for interpreting Transformers mainly focus on understanding them from the perspectives of the importance of input tokens or internal modules, as well as the formation and meaning of features. In contrast, inspired by research on information integration mechanisms and conjunctive errors in the biological visual system, this paper conducts an in-depth exploration of the internal error mechanisms of Transformers. We first propose an information integration hypothesis for Transformers in the machine vision domain and provide substantial experimental evidence to support this hypothesis. This includes the dynamic integration of information among tokens and the static integration of information within tokens in Transformers, as well as the presence of conjunctive errors therein. Addressing these errors, we further propose heuristic dynamic integration constraint methods and rule-based static integration constraint methods to rectify errors and ultimately improve model performance. The entire methodology framework is termed as Transformer Doctor, designed for diagnosing and treating internal errors within transformers. Through a plethora of quantitative and qualitative experiments, it has been demonstrated that Transformer Doctor can effectively address internal errors in transformers, thereby enhancing model performance. The widespread use of deep neural networks (DNNs) in image classification sofwares underlines the importance of the robustness. Researchers have proposed sparse adversarial attack methods for generating test cases, which add pixel-level perturbations to construct the test case to mislead the target model. However, the existing methods have certain limitations, such as high time cost, poor flexibility, and poor quality of the test cases. To address these issues, we propose a gradient-guided test case generation method (GGTM) to evaluate the robustness of image classification software. The method firstly identifies the key region in the image based on the gradient-weighted class activation mapping (Grad-CAM) and the prediction confidence of the target model on the input image. In the key region, it selects a set of pixels as candidate perturbation pixels according to the gradient value and the change of loss function. Then perturbations are added to the candidate perturbation pixels after applying a random dropout strategy to reduce some candidate perturbation pixels which is used to avoid local optimum. For the initially constructed test case which can mislead the target model, after removing redundant and unimportant perturbations, perturbations are re-added to optimize the test case. Experiments show the effectiveness of GGTM, which achieves 100% attack success rate. And the test cases generated by GGTM have the best perturbation sparsity. Furthermore, compared with the baseline method SparseAG which achieves optimal perturbation sparsity among the baseline methods, GGTM significantly improves the efficiency.

This study proposed a lightweight and secure audio steganography system for hiding text messages during transmission over the Internet to address the computational cost exaggeration, and Insufficient levels of security in earlier studies. The paper proposes a two-phase functioning mechanism. Text characters are transformed into ASCII code and then stored in a vector, which is then divided into three sub-vectors. The sub-vectors are scrambled using a two low complexity operation, namely a forwardbackward reading technique and an odd-even index. Two scrambling circuits can be performed: the first on tiny sub-vectors and another on the vector as a whole. In the hiding phase, the speech signal samples were divided into 256 blocks using only 200 values per block, and low complexity Quadratic and the Hénon maps to hide the speech signal in a random manner. This method utilizes the conditional LSB as low complexity algorithm to identify hidden bits and a special hyperchaotic map algorithm for randomly choosing locations. The proposed approach provides good security for a scrambled text message with high SNR and PSNR, small MSE error and PESQ, SSIM near one, BER close to zero, and MOS near five as well as the lowest computational hiding cost. © 2023, The Authors. In the age of AI, mobile architectures such as smartphones are still "cold machines"; machines do not feel. If the architecture is able to feel users' feelings and runtime user experience (UX), it will accordingly adapt performance/energy to find the optimal system-operating state that consumes the least energy to satisfy users. In this paper, we will utilize users' facial expressions (FEs) to learn their runtime UX. We know that FEs are the natural and direct way for humans to convey their emotions and feelings. Our study reveals that FEs also reflect UX. Our research for the first time quantifies the link between FEs and UX. Leveraging this link, the architecture will be able to use the front camera to see FEs and feel users' UX. Based on UX, the architecture can appropriately provision computing resources. We propose Vi-energy system to realize the above idea. Our evaluation shows that Vi-energy reduces energy consumption by 52.9% at maximum and secures UX.

The FAQ system is to match the questions asked by the user with the questions in the FAQ library, and subsequently return the answers to the questions according to the smenatic similarity between questions. The existing matching methods of question pair are not specially designated for the OS domain and do not incorporate domain knowledge. The screenshots of Operating System provided by user usually contain important information, which can be uesed to improve the effectiveness of question matching method. In this paper, we evaluate the important of text in image with the highlighted evaluation, location evaluation, and text evaluation, and filter out important text for question matching. In order to use knowledge of Operation System, we introduce a pretraining model incorporating the domain knowledge that can be used for problem matching. In the experiment, the method with knowledge graph and image information can fully improve the accuracy rate, recall rate and F1 score of the matching reuslts compared to the mainstream method. © VDE VERLAG GMBH - Berlin - Offenbach.
