Deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are used for image denoising via automatically mining accurate structure information. However, most of existing CNNs depend on enlarging depth of designed networks to obtain better denoising performance, which may cause training difficulty. In this paper, we propose a multi-stage image denoising CNN with the wavelet transform (MWDCNN) via three stages, i.e., a dynamic convolutional block (DCB), two cascaded wavelet transform and enhancement blocks (WEBs) and a residual block (RB). DCB uses a dynamic convolution to dynamically adjust parameters of several convolutions for making a tradeoff between denoising performance and computational costs. WEB uses a combination of signal processing technique (i.e., wavelet transformation) and discriminative learning to suppress noise for recovering more detailed information in image denoising. To further remove redundant features, RB is used to refine obtained features for improving denoising effects and reconstruct clean images via improved residual dense architectures. Experimental results show that the proposed MWDCNN outperforms some popular denoising methods in terms of quantitative and qualitative analysis. Modeling Multiple Views via Implicitly Preserving Global Consistency and Local Complementarity

While self-supervised learning techniques are often used to mine hidden knowledge from unlabeled data via modeling multiple views, it is unclear how to perform effective representation learning in a complex and inconsistent context. To this end, we propose a new multi-view self-supervised learning method, namely consistency and complementarity network (CoCoNet), to comprehensively learn global inter-view consistent and local cross-view complementarity-preserving representations from multiple views. To capture crucial common knowledge which is implicitly shared among views, CoCoNet employs a global consistency module that aligns the probabilistic distribution of views by utilizing an efficient discrepancy metric based on the generalized sliced Wasserstein distance. To incorporate cross-view complementary information, CoCoNet proposes a heuristic complementarity-aware contrastive learning approach, which extracts a complementarity-factor jointing cross-view discriminative knowledge and uses it as the contrast to guide the learning of view-specific encoders. Theoretically, the superiority of CoCoNet is verified by our information-theoretical-based analyses. Empirically, our thorough experimental results show that CoCoNet outperforms the state-of-the-art self-supervised methods by a significant margin, for instance, CoCoNet beats the best benchmark method by an average margin of 1.1% on ImageNet. Multi-band radiomap reconstruction (MB-RMR) is a key component in wireless communications for tasks such as spectrum management and network planning. However, traditional machine-learning-based MB-RMR methods, which rely heavily on simulated data or complete structured ground truth, face significant deployment challenges. These challenges stem from the differences between simulated and actual data, as well as the scarcity of real-world measurements. To address these challenges, our study presents RadioGAT, a novel framework based on Graph Attention Network (GAT) tailored for MBRMR within a single area, eliminating the need for multiregion datasets. RadioGAT innovatively merges model-based spatial-spectral correlation encoding with data-driven radiomap generalization, thus minimizing the reliance on extensive data sources. The framework begins by transforming sparse multiband data into a graph structure through an innovative encoding strategy that leverages radio propagation models to capture the spatial-spectral correlation inherent in the data. This graph-based representation not only simplifies data handling but also enables tailored label sampling during training, significantly enhancing the framework's adaptability for deployment. Subsequently, The GAT is employed to generalize the radiomap information across various frequency bands. Extensive experiments using raytracing datasets based on real-world environments have demonstrated RadioGAT's enhanced accuracy in supervised learning settings and its robustness in semi-supervised scenarios. These results underscore RadioGAT's effectiveness and practicality for MBRMR in environments with limited data availability. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the impact of African swine fever, the survival rate of domestic pigs has sharply decreased, and pork prices continue to rise. Many unscrupulous elements obtain illegal profits by avoiding inspection and quarantine, processing sick and dead pigs, and injecting water, etc. Unquarantined meat products pose serious food safety risks. In this context, we propose a machine learning based risk identification method for illegal slaughter of live pigs. Firstly, we use the RetinaNet algorithm to detect live pig transport vehicles and use a dual residual network to Super-Resolution the vehicle area in the detected image to improve facial clarity. Subsequently, the ArcFace algorithm is used to match the facial information with the ex-convicts, and finally, the Location of vehicles passing through, time, frequency and facial analysis results are combined for calculation and scoring and provide the risk warning for illegal slaughter of live pigs.

Recently, mobile edge computing has received widespread attention, which provides computing infrastructure via pushing cloud computing, network control, and storage to the network edges. To improve the resource utilization and Quality of Service, we investigate the issue of task offloading for End-EdgeCloud orchestrated computing in mobile networks. Particularly, we jointly optimize the server selection and resource allocation to minimize the weighted sum of the average cost. A cost minimization problem is formulated underjoint the constraints of cache resource and communication/computation resource of edge servers. The resultant problem is a Mixed-Integer Non-linear Programming, which is NP-hard. To tackle this problem, we decompose it into simpler subproblems for server selection and resource allocation, respectively. We propose a low-complexity hierarchical heuristic approach to achieve server selection, and a Cauchy-Schwards Inequality based closed-form approach to efficiently determine resource allocation. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed scheme on reducing the weighted sum of the average cost in the network.

As one of common diseases among elderly, stroke often leads to motor impairment and even serious disability. Post-stroke rehabilitation is of great importance to restore the motor function and improve the life quality of stroke survivors. This study therefore sets out to propose a hybrid system based on brain-computer interface and virtual reality, which can provide various training programs including action observation, motor imagery and physical therapy for post-stroke patients with different motor control levels and training demands. The present work offers new insights into the way in which the conventional rehabilitation programs can be turned into innovative and interactive training experiences with advanced technologies to make optimal rehabilitation outcomes for stroke survivors.

Plot-based Graphic API recommendation (Plot2API) is an unstudied but meaningful issue, which has several important applications in the context of software engineering and data visualization, such as the plotting guidance of the beginner, graphic API correlation analysis, and code conversion for plotting. Plot2API is a very challenging task, since each plot is often associated with multiple APIs and the appearances of the graphics drawn by the same API can be extremely varied due to the different settings of the parameters. Additionally, the samples of different APIs also suffer from extremely *** the lack of technologies in Plot2API, we present a novel deep multi-task learning approach named Semantic Parsing Guided Neural Network (SPGNN) which translates the Plot2API issue as a multi-label image classification and an image semantic parsing tasks for the solution. In SPGNN, the recently advanced Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) named EfficientNet is employed as the backbone network for API recommendation. Meanwhile, a semantic parsing module is complemented to exploit the semantic relevant visual information in feature learning and eliminate the appearance-relevant visual information which may confuse the visual-information-based API recommendation. Moreover, the recent data augmentation technique named random erasing is also applied for alleviating the imbalance of API *** collect plots with the graphic APIs used to drawn them from Stack Overflow, and release three new Plot2API datasets corresponding to the graphic APIs of R and Python programming languages for evaluating the effectiveness of Plot2API techniques. Extensive experimental results not only demonstrate the superiority of our method over the recent deep learning baselines but also show the practicability of our method in the recommendation of graphic APIs.

The code summarization task aims to generate brief descriptions of source code automatically. It is beneficial for developers to understand source code. However, almost all of current code summarization approaches may generate low-quality (BLEU4<40) summaries, which will mislead developers. Previous work has shown that it is possible to conduct quality assurance for document generation (QA4DG) and improve the practicability of document generation approaches. Code summarization can also be regarded as a document generation task. This work aims to investigate whether QA4DG approaches can be leveraged to improve code summarization. Specifically, we first investigate whether existing QA4DG approaches can be plugged in code summarization approaches. We find that an automated quality assurance framework for commit message generation named QACom performs best. In-spired by the idea behind QAcom, we propose an ensemble code summarization approach called Ensum. Precisely, given a code snippet, Ensum first uses current code summarization approaches to generate candidate summaries. Then, Ensum predicts the quality of each candidate summary using a collaborative filtering-based component and a retrieval-based component and selects the best candidate summary as the output. Experimental results on two public datasets show that Ensum outperforms three state-of-the-art single approaches and one ensemble approach for code summarization in terms of BLEU-4, METEOR, and ROUGE-L.

In recent years, an increasing number of mobile platforms and applications have adopted traffic encryption protocol technology to ensure privacy and security. Existing researches on encrypted traffic identification approaches often rely on a single-modal feature pattern (such as packet sequence and statistical features), which cannot fully represent the detail information of complex traffic features, and so their predictions are susceptible to anomalies. In order to improve the effect of classification on encrypted app traffic, we propose FusionTC, a novel app traffic classification framework based on feature fusion of flow sequence. FusionTC consists of two-level subclassifiers, which are used to perform decision-level fusion of multimodal features by an upgraded stacking method. The comprehensive capture and fusion of multimodal traffic details, coupled with the refined processing and segmentation of traffic, enables FusionTC to significantly promote classification accuracy and enhance robustness in challenging situations. Based on our self-built app traffic dataset, FusionTC improves the accuracy by at least 3.2% over the state-of-the-art approaches. © 2023 Shengbao Li et al.

XAI refers to the techniques and methods for building AI applications which assist end users to interpret output and predictions of AI models. Black box AI applications in high-stakes decision-making situations, such as medical domain have increased the demand for transparency and explainability since wrong predictions may have severe consequences. Model explainability and interpretability are vital successful deployment of AI models in healthcare practices. AI applications' underlying reasoning needs to be transparent to clinicians in order to gain their trust. This paper presents a systematic review of XAI aspects and challenges in the healthcare domain. The primary goals of this study are to review various XAI methods, their challenges, and related machine learning models in healthcare. The methods are discussed under six categories: Features-oriented methods, global methods, concept models, surrogate models, local pixel-based methods, and human-centric methods. Most importantly, the paper explores XAI role in healthcare problems to clarify its necessity in safety-critical applications. The paper intends to establish a comprehensive understanding of XAI-related applications in the healthcare field by reviewing the related experimental results. To facilitate future research for filling research gaps, the importance of XAI models from different viewpoints and their limitations are investigated. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
