Simplifying graph contrastive learning with single feature fusion and column vector orthogonal noise

Graph Contrastive Learning (GCL) has shown promise in recommendation systems by improving representation quality through data augmentation and consistency objectives. However, conventional GCL frameworks rely on multi-channel augmentation, which introduces significant computational overhead and limits scalability. To address this, we propose Single Feature Fusion Graph Contrastive Learning (S-GCL), a non-parametric and lightweight framework that simplifies contrastive learning by applying single feature fusion to the final prediction embeddings within each mini-batch. To further enhance S-GCL, we introduce Column Vector Orthogonal Noise (CVON), a feature-level augmentation strategy that injects orthogonal noise into each dimensional feature within the embedding space. CVON enriches representations while preserving semantic integrity, and incurs minimal computational overhead. Its integration within the S-GCL framework yields the proposed SCGCL method. Extensive experiments conducted on six publicly available benchmark datasets validate the effectiveness and generalizability of SCGCL. Notably, integrating SCGCL into LightGCN leads to substantial gains in both training efficiency and recommendation accuracy. For example, on the large-scale Alibaba-iFashion dataset, our method improves Recall@20 by 29 % and NDCG@20 by 33 %, while reducing training time by an impressive 84 %.

In this research, we try to investigate a solar-geothermal energy system. This system includes three turbines for power production, a PEM electrolyzer for hydrogen production, and a thermoelectric for generating electricity from excess heat. In addition, the seawater will be passed through the osmotic cycle to gain fresh water. The required power for this osmotic cycle will be obtained through the energy produced by the main turbines. The generated load, hydrogen production flow rate, purified water flow rate, and heating consumption are assessed in this study. The results showed that this system can produce 3.8 megawatts of electricity as well as 8 g per second of hydrogen fuel at the operating point. Also, the energy efficiency of this system is estimated to be 19%. Afterward, machine learning methods are used to optimize designing parameters, and the optimum operating point in terms of useful power and stored fuel flow rate is obtained by a genetic algorithm. The optimum operating point of this energy system has a useful power output of 4.099 megawatts and a hydrogen flow rate of 29 g per second. Plot2API: Recommending graphic API from plot via semantic parsing guided neural network

Plot-based Graphic API recommendation (Plot2API) is an unstudied but meaningful issue, which has several important applications in the context of software engineering and data visualization, such as the plotting guidance of the beginner, graphic API correlation analysis, and code conversion for plotting. Plot2API is a very challenging task, since each plot is often associated with multiple APIs and the appearances of the graphics drawn by the same API can be extremely varied due to the different settings of the parameters. Additionally, the samples of different APIs also suffer from extremely imbalanced. Considering the lack of technologies in Plot2API, we present a novel deep multi-task learning approach named Semantic Parsing Guided Neural Network (SPGNN) which translates the Plot2API issue as a multi-label image classification and an image semantic parsing tasks for the solution. In SPGNN, the recently advanced Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) named EfficientNet is employed as the backbone network for API recommendation. Meanwhile, a semantic parsing module is complemented to exploit the semantic relevant visual information in feature learning and eliminate the appearance-relevant visual information which may confuse the visual-information-based API recommendation. Moreover, the recent data augmentation technique named random erasing is also applied for alleviating the imbalance of API categories. We collect plots with the graphic APIs used to drawn them from Stack Overflow, and release three new Plot2API datasets corresponding to the graphic APIs of R and Python programming languages for evaluating the effectiveness of Plot2API techniques. Extensive experimental results not only demonstrate the superiority of our method over the recent deep learning baselines but also show the practicability of our method in the recommendation of graphic APIs. © 2021, CC BY-NC-SA.

In the past two decades, analyzing the information network has been intensively studied from various disciplines. Small world property and scale-free property prevail in network science research. The comparison and classification of different kinds of graphs are extremely important. However, how to design a robust and accurate classification with deep learning techniques for network property still lack enough attention, which is a vital task in various application scenarios. In this paper, we proposed the reliable network property classifier based on graph embedding(RNC) to classify the network property (scale free or small world property). In order to process non-euclidean data, we embedded each network into an image and use dimensional reduction, rasterization, and convolutional neural networks to complete the classification problem. The method can effectively accomplish classification tasks in not only artificial networks but also real networks. Besides, RNC wins greatly in terms of robustness on real networks, showing the robustness of RNC against the incomplete structure of the network. © 2019 IEEE.

Given the need to elucidate the mechanisms underlying illnesses and their treatment, as well as the lack of harmonization of acquisition and post-processing protocols among different magnetic resonance system vendors, this work is to determine if metabolite concentrations obtained from different sessions, machine models and even different vendors of 3 T scanners can be highly reproducible and be pooled for diagnostic analysis, which is very valuable for the research of rare diseases. Participants underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning once on two separate days within one week (one session per day, each session including two proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) scans with no more than a 5-minute interval between scans (no off-bed activity)) on each machine. were analyzed for reliability of within- and between sessions using the coefficient of variation (CV) and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), and for reproducibility of across the machines using correlation coefficient. A Geometric Strategy Algorithm for Orthogonal Pro jection onto a Parametric Surface

In this paper, we investigate how to compute the minimum distance between a point and a parametric surface, and then to return the nearest point (foot point) on the surface as well as its corresponding parameter, which is also called the point projection problem of a parametric surface. The geometric strategy algorithm (hereafter GSA) presented consists of two parts as follows. The normal curvature to a given parametric surface is used to find the corresponding foot point firstly, and then the Taylor's expansion of the parametric surface is employed to compute parameter increments and to get the iteration formula to calculate the orthogonal projection point of test point to the parametric surface. Our geometric strategy algorithm is essentially dependent on the geometric property of the normal curvature, and performs better than existing methods in two ways. Firstly, GSA converges faster than existing methods, such as the method to turn the problem into a root-finding of nonlinear system, subdividing methods, clipping methods, geometric methods (tangent vector and geometric curvature) and hybrid second-order method, etc. Specially, it converges faster than the classical Newton's iterative method. Secondly, GSA is independent of the initial iterative value, which we prove in Theorem 1. Many numerical examples confirm GSA's robustness and efficiency.

ShiftLIC: Lightweight Learned Image Compression with Spatial-Channel Shift Operations

Learned Image Compression (LIC) has attracted considerable attention due to their outstanding rate-distortion (RD) performance and flexibility. However, the substantial computational cost poses challenges for practical deployment. The issue of feature redundancy in LIC is rarely addressed. Our findings indicate that many features within the LIC backbone network exhibit similarities. This paper introduces ShiftLIC, a novel and efficient LIC framework that employs parameter-free shift operations to replace large-kernel convolutions, significantly reducing the model’s computational burden and parameter count. Specifically, we propose the Spatial Shift Block (SSB), which combines shift operations with small-kernel convolutions to replace large-kernel. This approach maintains feature extraction efficiency while reducing both computational complexity and model size. To further enhance the representation capability in the channel dimension, we propose a channel attention module based on recursive feature fusion. This module enhances feature interaction while minimizing computational overhead. Additionally, we introduce an improved entropy model integrated with the SSB module, making the entropy estimation process more lightweight and thereby comprehensively reducing computational costs. Experimental results demonstrate that ShiftLIC outperforms leading compression methods, such as VVC Intra and GMM, in terms of computational cost, parameter count, and decoding latency. Additionally, ShiftLIC sets a new SOTA benchmark with a BDrate gain per MACs/pixel of -102.6%, showcasing its potential for practical deployment in resource-constrained environments. This paper presents a hybrid method using a Gaitset network for gait recognition. We firstly use Alphpose model to obtain key points of human posture to improve the extraction of human contour under body occlusion. The human contour map is obtained by pose2Seg model with the key points of human posture. Both human posture and body contour are used as input of the network. By using the hybrid method, it can effectively improve the accuracy and robustness of gait recognition with the upper body information under occlusion. In scenes of human walking under body occlusion, our experimental results show that the accuracy of the proposed method in self-built database can reach 84.6% accuracy.

Dynamic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays an indispensable role in cardiac diagnosis. To enable fast imaging, the k-space data can be undersampled but the image reconstruction poses a great challenge of high-dimensional processing. This challenge necessitates extensive training data in deep learning reconstruction methods. In this work, we propose a novel and efficient approach, leveraging a dimension-reduced separable learning scheme that can perform exceptionally well even with highly limited training data. We design this new approach by incorporating spatiotemporal priors into the development of a Deep Separable Spatiotemporal Learning network (DeepSSL), which unrolls an iteration process of a 2D spatiotemporal reconstruction model with both temporal low-rankness and spatial sparsity. Intermediate outputs can also be visualized to provide insights into the network behavior and enhance interpretability. Extensive results on cardiac cine datasets demonstrate that the proposed DeepSSL surpasses state-of-the-art methods both visually and quantitatively, while reducing the demand for training cases by up to 75%. Additionally, its preliminary adaptability to unseen cardiac patients has been verified through a blind reader study conducted by experienced radiologists and cardiologists. Furthermore, DeepSSL enhances the accuracy of the downstream task of cardiac segmentation and exhibits robustness in prospectively undersampled real-time cardiac MRI. Copyright © 2024, The Authors.
