Convolutional neural networks can automatically learn features via deep network architectures and given input samples. However, the robustness of obtained models may face challenges in varying scenes. bigger differences in network architecture are beneficial to extract more diversified structural information to strengthen the robustness of an obtained superresolution model. In this paper, we proposed a adaptive convolutional neural network for image super-resolution (ADSRNet). To capture more information, ADSRNet is implemented by a heterogeneous parallel network. The upper network can enhance relation of context information, salient information relation of a kernel mapping and relations of shallow and deep layers to improve performance of image super-resolution. That can strengthen adaptability of an obtained super-resolution model for different scenes. The lower network utilizes a symmetric architecture to enhance relations of different layers to mine more structural information, which is complementary with a upper network for image super-resolution. The Large Language Model (LLM) has gained significant popularity and is extensively utilized across various domains. Most LLM deployments occur within cloud data centers, where they encounter substantial response delays and incur high costs, thereby impacting the Quality of Services (QoS) at the network edge. Leveraging vector database caching to store LLM request results at the edge can substantially mitigate response delays and cost associated with similar requests, which has been overlooked by previous research. Addressing these gaps, this paper introduces a novel Vector database-assisted cloud-Edge collaborative LLM QoS Optimization (VELO) framework. Firstly, we propose the VELO framework, which ingeniously employs vector database to cache the results of some LLM requests at the edge to reduce the response time of subsequent similar requests. Diverging from direct optimization of the LLM, our VELO framework does not necessitate altering the internal structure of LLM and is broadly applicable to diverse LLMs. Subsequently, building upon the VELO framework, we formulate the QoS optimization problem as a Markov Decision Process (MDP) and devise an algorithm grounded in Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning (MARL) to decide whether to request the LLM in the cloud or directly return the results from the vector database at the edge. Moreover, to enhance request feature extraction and expedite training, we refine the policy network of MARL and integrate expert demonstrations. Finally, we implement the proposed algorithm within a real edge system. Experimental findings confirm that our VELO framework substantially enhances user satisfaction by concurrently diminishing delay and resource consumption for edge users utilizing LLMs.

The imaging technique known as computed tomography (CT) is often considered to be the most reliable way for non-invasive diagnosis. Through the use of three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography images, we were able to categorize aggressive tumors that were found in the liver for the aim of this research. When it comes to the three-dimensional (3D) CT image, the dimension reduction is accomplished by the use of principal component analysis (PCA). The Random Forest Algorithm is responsible for identifying the abnormal hepatic region, and a median filter is used to reduce the amount of noise occurring. Methods of data augmentation are also employed in this process. To extract Gray Level Run Length Matrix (GLRLM) features, using Pyradiomics python package. These features are then fed into a 3D-CNN classifier to classify malignant tumors and haemangiomas. Our model was found to have greater performance after being compared to the findings of other models. This was revealed after the comparison was made. For the training dataset, our model has an accuracy of 97.2%, and for the test dataset, it has an accuracy of 98.25%. This accuracy is determined by the performance metrics that our model incorporates.

Mixing Histopathology Prototypes into Robust Slide-Level Representations for Cancer Subtyping

Whole-slide image analysis via the means of computational pathology often relies on processing tessellated gigapixel images with only slide-level labels available. Applying multiple instance learning-based methods or transformer models is computationally expensive as, for each image, all instances have to be processed simultaneously. The MLP-Mixer is an under-explored alternative model to common vision transformers, especially for large-scale datasets. Due to the lack of a self-attention mechanism, they have linear computational complexity to the number of input patches but achieve comparable performance on natural image datasets. We propose a combination of feature embedding and clustering to preprocess the full whole-slide image into a reduced prototype representation which can then serve as input to a suitable MLP-Mixer architecture. Our experiments on two public benchmarks and one inhouse malignant lymphoma dataset show comparable performance to current state-of-the-art methods, while achieving lower training costs in terms of computational time and memory load. Research Artifacts in software engineering Publications: Status and Trends

The software engineering (SE) community has been embracing the open science policy and encouraging researchers to disclose artifacts in their publications. However, the status and trends of artifact practice and quality remain unclear, lacking insights on further improvement. In this paper, we present an empirical study to characterize the research artifacts in SE publications. Specifically, we manually collect 1,487 artifacts from all 2,196 papers published in top-tier SE conferences (ASE, FSE, ICSE, and ISSTA) from 2017 to 2022. We investigate the common practices (e.g., URL location and format, storage websites), maintenance activities (e.g., last update time and URL validity), popularity (e.g., the number of stars on GitHub and characteristics), and quality (e.g., documentation and code smell) of these artifacts. Based on our analysis, we reveal a rise in publications providing artifacts. The usage of Zenodo for sharing artifacts has significantly increased. However, artifacts stored in GitHub tend to receive few stars, indicating a limited influence on real-world SE applications. We summarize the results and provide suggestions to different stakeholders in conjunction with current guidelines. © 2024, CC BY.

Low Power Networks are spreading worldwide, seeking to enable small devices to join wireless networks. This requires a routing mechanism that makes it possible and seamless. This research aims to create a Low Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) routing protocol that balances power usage and node dependability. The main emphasis of the algorithm presented here is the choice made by network nodes (Zigbees) regarding which path to deliver the message along. Results for this routing technique seem promising. Utilizing it increased packet transfer reliability while enforcing power conservation. Furthermore, a 10% reduction in the network's overall power consumption was made.

Colonoscopy has attached great importance to early screening and clinical diagnosis of colon cancer. It remains a challenging task to achieve fine segmentation of polyps. However, existing State-of-the-art models still have limited segmentation ability due to the lack of clear and highly similar boundaries between normal tissue and polyps. To deal with this problem, we propose a region self-attention enhancement network (RSAFormer) with a transformer encoder to capture more robust features. Different from other excellent methods, RSAFormer uniquely employs a dual decoder structure to generate various feature maps. Contrasting with traditional methods that typically employ a single decoder, it offers more flexibility and detail in feature extraction. RSAFormer also introduces a region self-attention enhancement module (RSA) to acquire more accurate feature information and foster a stronger interplay between low-level and high-level features. This module enhances uncertain areas to extract more precise boundary information, these areas being signified by regional context. Extensive experiments were conducted on five prevalent polyp datasets to demonstrate RSAFormer's proficiency. It achieves 92.2% and 83.5% mean Dice on Kvasir and ETIS, respectively, which outperformed most of the state-of-the-art models. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Self-expression learning methods often obtain a coefficient matrix to measure the similarity between pairs of samples. However, directly using the raw data to represent each sample under the self-expression framework may not be ideal, as noise points are inevitably involved in the process of representing clean samples. To address this issue, this work proposes a novel self-expression model called robust Self-Expression learning with adaptive Noise Perception (SENP). SENP decomposes each sample into a clean part and a noisy part, and samples with large self-expression losses can be recognized as the noise points. A reliable coefficient matrix can then be learned by using only the clean points to reconstruct the clean part of each sample. By simultaneously detecting the noisy part of each sample and noise points, and adaptively mitigating their negative impacts, the representative ability of the generated coefficient matrix is improved. Moreover, inspired by the solution of non-negative matrix factorization (NMF), an effective algorithm is formed to optimize SENP. Extensive experiments on well-known benchmark datasets demonstrate the superiority of SENP compared to several state-of-the-art methods. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Mining the facets of topics is an essential task for information retrieval, information extraction and knowledge base construction. For the topics in courses, there are three challenges: different topics have different facet, the labels of facets rarely appear in the topic description text and not all topics have enough textural information to mine facets. In this paper we propose a weakly-supervised algorithm for topic-specific facet mining (ToFM for short) based on our finding that similar topics in a cluster have similar facet sets. For example, topics Binary Search Tree, Suffix Tree and AVL tree in Tree cluster have example, insertion, deletion, traversal and other similar facets. ToFM first splits topics in a domain into several topic clusters based on the topic description text. Then ToFM extracts initial facet sets for all topics from the corresponding Wikipedia article pages. Finally, ToFM performs a normalized facet propagation within each topic cluster to acquire final facet sets of every topic. We evaluate the performance of ToFM on six real-world datasets and experimental results show that ToFM achieves better performance than the existing facet mining algorithms. © 2021 IEEE.
