Hypergraph Neural Networks (HGNNs) are increasingly utilized to analyze complex inter-entity relationships. Traditional HGNN systems, based on a hyperedge-centric dataflow model, independently process aggregation tasks for hyperedges and vertices, leading to significant computational redundancy. This redundancy arises from recalculating shared information across different tasks. For the first time, we identify and harness implicit dataflows (i.e., dependencies) within HGNNs, introducing the microedge concept to effectively capture and reuse intricate shared information among aggregation tasks, thereby minimizing redundant computations. We have developed a new microedge-centric dataflow model that processes shared information as fine-grained microedge aggregation tasks. This dataflow model is supported by the Read-Process-Activate-Generate execution model, which aims to optimize parallelism among these tasks. Furthermore, our newly developed MeHyper, a microedge-centric HGNN accelerator, incorporates a decoupled pipeline for improved computational parallelism and a hierarchical feature management strategy to reduce off-chip memory accesses for large volumes of intermediate feature vectors generated. Our evaluation demonstrates that MeHyper substantially outperforms the leading CPUbased system PyG-CPU and the GPU-based system HyperGef, delivering performance improvements of $1,032.23 \times$ and $10.51 \times$, and energy efficiencies of $1,169.03 \times$ and $9.96 \times$, respectively.

The social network-based recommendation model use social network information to mitigate data sparsity issues and improve the accuracy of recommendation models. However, In most social network-based recommendation algorithms, the social neighbors' contributions are difficult to distinguish from the central user's, neglecting hidden correlations in social infor-mation. In order to solve this problem, this paper presents a graph-based contrastive learning framework for social-enhanced recommendation (SoGCLR) that utilizes implicit social information captured by a new social relation attention mechanism, en-rich user representations, and improve model robustness through graph-based contrastive learning. Specifically, the paper captures the degree of contribution of each neighbor in the social graph to the central user through a social relation attention layer, thus obtaining hidden correlations in social information, and further integrates this with user information in the user-item interaction graph to enrich user representations. In addition, the paper incorporates graph-based contrastive learning into the recommendation task using cross-layer contrastive learning, calculating contrastive loss and mapping nodes with similar but different exposure rates to nearby regions to mitigate exposure bias issues. Results from Ciao and Epinions demonstrate that SoGCLR reduces RMSE and MAE by 1.33% to 1.84% compared with baseline models. © 2023 IEEE.

Group recommendation involves comprehensively considering various aspects, including members and items, to predict the overall interests of a group and recommend suitable items through a recommendation system. With the rapid evolution of the Internet, online group activities have become increasingly prevalent, making group recommendation a highly discussed topic within the realm of recommendation systems. However, current research in group recommendation still confronts the following challenges. Firstly, a predominant portion of group recommendation research focuses solely on aggregating group-level information, neglecting the valuable contribution of higher-order member-level insights to group recommendation. Moreover, some aggregation strategies overly prioritize fairness, thereby disregarding common real-world patterns. Secondly, previous studies have primarily relied on aggregating individual member interests to establish group preferences, lacking a holistic consideration of group dynamics. To tackle these challenges, this study introduces an innovative approach by implementing multi-channel hypergraph convolution within the member perspective. This approach aims to effectively extract higher-order insights from members by utilizing a member information enhancement module. By establishing group interconnections based on similarity and employing an adaptive fusion network to amalgamate multiple viewpoints, a final representation is derived. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed model surpasses baseline models by 3% to 4% in terms of hit rate and accuracy, validating the efficacy of our approach. © 2023 IEEE.

Self-Supervised Acoustic Word Embedding Learning via Correspondence Transformer Encoder

Acoustic word embeddings (AWEs) aims to map a variable-length speech segment into a fixed-dimensional representation. High-quality AWEs should be invariant to variations, such as duration, pitch and speaker. In this paper, we introduce a novel self-supervised method to learn robust AWEs from a large-scale unlabelled speech corpus. Our model, named Correspondence Transformer Encoder (CTE), employs a teacher-student learning framework. We train the model based on the idea that different realisations of the same word should be close in the underlying embedding space. Specifically, we feed the teacher and student encoder with different acoustic instances of the same word and pre-train the model with a word-level loss. Our experiments show that the embeddings extracted from the proposed CTE model are robust to speech variations, e.g. speakers and domains. Additionally, when evaluated on Xitsonga, a low-resource cross-lingual setting, the CTE model achieves new state-of-the-art performance. © 2023, CC BY.

Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) offers valuable insights into the human brain's functional organization and is a powerful tool for investigating the relationship between brain function and cognitive processes as it allows for the functional organization of the brain to be captured without relying on a specific task or stimuli. In this study, we introduce a novel attention mechanism for graphs with subnetworks, named Self Clustering Graph Transformer (SCGT), designed to handle the issue of uniform node updates in graph transformers. By using static functional connectivity (FC) correlation features as input to the transformer model, SCGT effectively captures the sub-network structure of the brain by performing cluster-specific updates to the nodes unlike uniform node updates like vanilla graph transformers, further allowing us to learn and interpret the sub clusters. We validate our approach on the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) dataset, comprising 7,957 participants, for the prediction of total cognitive score and gender classification. Our results demonstrate that SCGT outperforms the vanilla graph transformer method, and other recent models, offering a promising tool for modeling brain functional connectivity and interpreting the underlying subnetwork structures.

The energy Internet (EI) presents a novel paradigm for renewable energy distribution that utilizes communication and computing technologies to revolutionize the conventional intelligent transportation systems (ITSs) and power grid into a structure that provides assistance to open innovation. The EI offers sustainable and bidirectional transmission for the improvement and analysis of energy convention among electric vehicles (EVs) and service providers. To ensure efficient, reliable, and secure operation, EI must be safe from security attacks. Therefore, efficient and secure key negotiation is a significant issue for the EI-based Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) architecture. Thus, to ensure the system's security, we have devised a robust scheme to facilitate a secure key agreement between the entities involved for the secure and efficient renewable energy distribution for the EI-based energy vehicles in V2G. The devised scheme's robustness is solicited through the widely accepted formal random or real (RoR) model. In addition, the informal security analysis is conducted on the devised scheme, which is evident that the designed scheme achieves all the required security features of EI-based ITS. Moreover, the performance evaluation results endorse that the designed scheme achieves the desired security and minimizes the communication, computation, and energy overhead by 29.33%, 27.94%, and 28.08% in comparison to the existing competitive schemes. © 2014 IEEE.

The emergence of large-scale pre-trained vision foundation models has greatly advanced the medical imaging field through the pre-training and fine-tuning paradigm. However, selecting appropriate medical data for downstream fine-tuning remains a significant challenge considering its annotation cost, privacy concerns, and the detrimental effects of confounding variables. In this work, we present a confounder-aware medical data selection approach for medical dataset curation aiming to select minimal representative data by strategically mitigating the undesirable impact of confounding variables while preserving the natural distribution of the dataset. Our approach first identifies confounding variables within data and then develops a distance-based data selection strategy for confounder-aware sampling with a constrained budget in the data size. We validate the superiority of our approach through extensive experiments across diverse medical imaging modalities, highlighting its effectiveness in addressing the substantial impact of confounding variables and enhancing the fine-tuning efficiency in the medical imaging domain, compared to other data selection approaches. © 2025 IEEE.

An ADRC-Incorporated Stochastic Gradient Descent Algorithm for Latent Factor Analysis

High-dimensional and incomplete (HDI) matrix contains many complex interactions between numerous nodes. A stochastic gradient descent (SGD)-based latent factor analysis (LFA) model is remarkably effective in extracting valuable information from an HDI matrix. However, such a model commonly encounters the problem of slow convergence because a standard SGD algorithm only considers the current learning error to compute the stochastic gradient without considering the historical and future state of the learning error. To address this critical issue, this paper innovatively proposes an ADRC-incorporated SGD (ADS) algorithm by refining the instance learning error by considering the historical and future state by following the principle of an ADRC controller. With it, an ADS-based LFA model is further achieved for fast and accurate latent factor analysis on an HDI matrix. Empirical studies on two HDI datasets demonstrate that the proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art LFA models in terms of computational efficiency and accuracy for predicting the missing data of an HDI matrix.
