Contrastive Learning for Robust Android Malware Familial Classification

Due to its open-source nature, Android operating system has been the main target of attackers to exploit. Malware creators always perform different code obfuscations on their apps to hide malicious activities. Features extracted from these obfuscated samples through program analysis contain many useless and disguised features, which leads to many false negatives. To address the issue, in this paper, we demonstrate that obfuscation-resilient malware family analysis can be achieved through contrastive learning. The key insight behind our analysis is that contrastive learning can be used to reduce the difference introduced by obfuscation while amplifying the difference between malware and other types of malware. Based on the proposed analysis, we design a system that can achieve robust and interpretable classification of Android malware. To achieve robust classification, we perform contrastive learning on malware samples to learn an encoder that can automatically extract robust features from malware samples. To achieve interpretable classification, we transform the function call graph of a sample into an image by centrality analysis. Then the corresponding heatmaps can be obtained by visualization techniques. These heatmaps can help users understand why the malware is classified as this family. We implement IFDroid and perform extensive evaluations on two datasets. Experimental results show that IFDroid is superior to state-of-the-art Android malware familial classification systems. Moreover, IFDroid is capable of maintaining a 98.4% F1 on classifying 69,421 obfuscated malware samples. IEEE

Space/air communications have been envisioned as an essential part of the next-generation mobile communication networks for providing highquality global connectivity. However, the inherent broadcasting nature of wireless propagation environment and the broad coverage pose severe threats to the protection of private data. Emerging covert communications provides a promising solution to achieve robust communication security. Aiming at facilitating the practical implementation of covert communications in space/air networks, we present a tutorial overview of its potentials, scenarios, and key technologies. Specifically, first, the commonly used covertness constraint model, covert performance metrics, and potential application scenarios are briefly introduced. Then, several efficient methods that introduce uncertainty into the covert system are thoroughly summarized, followed by several critical enabling technologies, including joint resource allocation and deployment/trajectory design, multi-antenna and beamforming techniques, reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS), and artificial intelligence algorithms. Finally, we highlight some open issues for future investigation.

IMGTP: A Unified Framework for Improving and Measuring the Generalizability of Trajectory Prediction Models

Accurately predicting nearby agents' future trajectories is fundamental for ensuring the safety and efficiency of autonomous driving. However, existing learning-based trajectory prediction models struggle with poor generalization to out-of-distribution (OOD) scenes, potentially leading to failed predictions in real-world applications. To tackle this challenge, we introduce IMGTP, a unified framework for systematically evaluating, improving, and measuring the generalization performance of trajectory prediction models in OOD scenes. IMGTP consists of three primary components: the Argoverse-Shift dataset, the FrenÃ©t+ strategy, and an approach for OOD measurement. First, the Argoverse-Shift is a cross-domain dataset that highlights the significant differences in data distributions across domains, serving as a testing platform for models' generalization ability. Second, the FrenÃ©t+ strategy leverages map centerlines and the FrenÃ©t Frame to enhance the generalizability of baseline models by mitigating the domain gap resulting from road geometry variations. Third, we provide a comprehensive evaluation methodology for OOD measurement, quantifying the range of data that can be effectively handled by prediction models. This measurement approach employs the accuracy rate of the correctly predicted samples and their corresponding mean distance as well as standard deviation to the training set center as indicators of the model's generalization ability. The mean distance also serves as a valid criterion for OOD detection and uncertainty quantification. Experimental results demonstrate that our IMGTP framework enhances the generalization capability of mainstream trajectory prediction models by substantially improving their prediction performance in unseen domains. Transactional stream processing engines (TSPEs) have gained increasing attention due to their capability of processing real-time stream applications with transactional semantics. However, TSPEs remain susceptible to system failures and power outages. Existing TSPEs mainly focus on performance improvement, but still face a significant challenge to guarantee fault tolerance while offering high-performance services. We revisit commonly-used fault tolerance approaches in stream processing and database systems, and find that these approaches do not work well on TSPEs due to complex data dependencies. In this paper, we propose a novel TSPE called MorphStreamR to achieve fast failure recovery while guaranteeing low performance overhead at runtime. The key idea of MorphStreamR is to record intermediate results of resolved dependencies at runtime, and thus eliminate data dependencies to improve task parallelism during failure recovery. MorphStreamR further mitigates the runtime overhead by selectively tracking data dependencies and incorporating workload-aware log commitment. Experimental results show that MorphStreamR can significantly reduce the recovery time by up to 3.1 x while experiencing much less performance slowdown at runtime, compared with other applicable fault tolerance approaches. © 2024 IEEE.

Sleep posture identification is crucial for accurately assessing sleep quality and diagnosing related diseases. In the realm of non-intrusive sleep monitoring, non-contact technologies are becoming increasingly mainstream. Millimeter-wave radar is frequently utilized in sleep posture identification due to its high resolution, strong penetration, and excellent sensitivity. However, traditional radar-based methods for sleep posture identification often struggle with reliability when dealing with diverse individuals and complex sleep environments. To address these challenges, we propose UniSleepPos, which designs a novel dual-view fusion mechanism to integrate depression and elevation angle signals obtained from radar, thus accurately capturing the posture information of the monitored subject in three-dimensional space. Furthermore, we combine sleep posture identification with individual characteristics, utilizing existing individual labels as prior knowledge to assist in sleep posture identification. The integration of prior knowledge provides a valuable information source for the model, helping to enhance its understanding of the data and improve its performance. We collected sleep posture data from eight volunteers using millimeter-wave radar devices under various environmental conditions. Leave-one-subject-out experiments were conducted to validate the effectiveness of UniSleepPos. The results indicated that UniSleepPos significantly outperforms existing methods, demonstrating its potential for practical applications. © 2024 IEEE.

With the rapid growth of manuscript submissions,finding eligible reviewers for every submission has become a heavy *** systems are powerful tools developed in computer science and information science to deal with this ***,most existing approaches resort to text mining techniques to match manuscripts with potential reviewers,which require high-quality textual information to perform *** this paper,we propose a reviewer recommendation algorithm based on a network diffusion process on a scholar-paper multilayer network,with no requirement for textual *** network incorporates the relationship of scholar-paper pairs,the collaboration among scholars,and the bibliographic coupling among *** results show that our proposed algorithm outperforms other state-of-the-art recommendation methods that use graph random walk and matrix factorization and methods that use machine learning and natural language processing,with improvements of over 7.62%in recall,5.66%in hit rate,and 47.53%in ranking *** work sheds light on the effectiveness of multilayer network diffusion-based methods in the reviewer recommendation problem,which will help to facilitate the peer-review process and promote information retrieval research in other practical scenes.

Traffic sign detection and recognition (TSDR) is a crucial technology to realize vehicle autonomous driving and maintain road safety. Misdetection or misclassification of traffic signs can lead to serious traffic accidents. Therefore, it is essential to ensure the correctness of traffic sign detection and recognition systems. However, most existing methods use labeled data, but it isn't easy to obtain labeled data. The metamorphic testing can reduce the dependence on the labeled data, but the current metamorphic relations do not consider the domain characteristics of traffic signs, so it is difficult to effectively detect traffic sign detection and recognition systems faults. To solve the above problems, this paper introduces metamorphic testing to verify traffic sign detection and recognition systems and designs and implements a tool, MTSDR, which provides a series of metamorphic relations in the traffic domain. It can generate many follow-up test images based on these metamorphic relations and automatically performs tests for evaluation, focusing on practical failure situations. The experimental evaluation was carried out on four advanced traffic sign detection and recognition models on open datasets. The results show that MTSDR can generate natural images and find thousands of traffic sign detection and recognition faults. Compared with the previous methods, our method has a higher fault detection capability, and the highest fault detection rate reaches more than 40%. In addition, it finds that retraining the traffic sign detection and recognition models using the images that found the fault can improve the model's performance, reduce its fault, and reduce the fault rate by 11.77% on average. © 2023 IEEE.
