In recent years, Wi-Fi sensing has garnered significant attention due to its numerous benefits, such as privacy protection, low cost, and penetration ability. Extensive research has been conducted in this field, focusing on areas such as gesture recognition, people identification, and fall detection. However, many data-driven methods encounter challenges related to domain shift, where the model fails to perform well in environments different from the training data. One major factor contributing to this issue is the limited availability of Wi-Fi sensing datasets, which makes models learn excessive irrelevant information and over-fit to the training set. Unfortunately, collecting large-scale Wi-Fi sensing datasets across diverse scenarios is a challenging task. To address this problem, we propose CrossFi, a siamese network-based approach that excels in both in-domain scenario and cross-domain scenario, including few-shot, zero-shot scenarios, and even works in few-shot new-class scenario where testing set contains new categories. The core component of CrossFi is a sample-similarity calculation network called CSi-Net, which improves the structure of the siamese network by using an attention mechanism to capture similarity information, instead of simply calculating the distance or cosine similarity. Based on it, we develop an extra Weight-Net that can generate a template for each class, so that our CrossFi can work in different scenarios. Experimental results demonstrate that our CrossFi achieves state-of-the-art performance across various scenarios. In gesture recognition task, our CrossFi achieves an accuracy of 98.17% in in-domain scenario, 91.72% in one-shot cross-domain scenario, 64.81% in zero-shot cross-domain scenario, and 84.75% in one-shot new-class scenario. Regularized Multivariate Functional Principal Component Analysis

Multivariate Functional Principal Component Analysis (MFPCA) is a valuable tool for exploring relationships and identifying shared patterns of variation in multivariate functional data. However, controlling the roughness of the extracted Principal Components (PCs) can be challenging. This paper introduces a novel approach called regularized MFPCA (ReMFPCA) to address this issue and enhance the smoothness and interpretability of the multivariate functional PCs. ReMFPCA incorporates a roughness penalty within a penalized framework, using a parameter vector to regulate the smoothness of each functional variable. The proposed method generates smoothed multivariate functional PCs, providing a concise and interpretable representation of the data. Extensive simulations and real data examples demonstrate the effectiveness of ReMFPCA and its superiority over alternative methods. Prototype and Instance Contrastive Learning for Unsupervised Domain Adaptation in Speaker Verification

Speaker verification system trained on one domain usually suffers performance degradation when applied to another domain. To address this challenge, researchers commonly use feature distribution matching-based methods in unsupervised domain adaptation scenarios where some unlabeled target domain data is available. However, these methods often have limited performance improvement and lack generalization in various mismatch situations. In this paper, we propose Prototype and Instance Contrastive Learning (PICL), a novel method for unsupervised domain adaptation in speaker verification through dual-level contrastive learning. For prototype contrastive learning, we generate pseudo labels via clustering to create dynamically updated prototype representations, aligning instances with their corresponding class or cluster prototypes. For instance contrastive learning, we minimize the distance between different views or augmentations of the same instance, ensuring robust and invariant representations resilient to variations like noise. This dual-level approach provides both high-level and low-level supervision, leading to improved generalization and robustness of the speaker verification model. Unlike previous studies that only evaluated mismatches in one situation, we have conducted relevant explorations on various datasets and achieved state-of-the-art performance currently, which also proves the generalization of our method. This paper addresses the problems of low accuracy and poor adaptability to complex scenes in traditional remote sensing object classification methods, and proposes a remote sensing object classification extraction method based on an improved U-Net. We retained the U-shaped symmetrical structure of U-Net and introduced the Swin Transformer block with self-attention mechanism to replace the original convolutional operation, enhancing the model's ability to extract global features. We also constructed a Bottleneck structure between the encoder and decoder to learn deep feature representations and form a new U-shaped network based on Transformer, improving the network's image semantic segmentation ability in scenarios with small targets and complexity. Experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper has an improvement of more than 9% in evaluation indicators such as recognition accuracy and recall rate compared with existing U-Net and Res-UNet methods, has high semantic segmentation accuracy and robustness, and provides new ideas and technical support for remote sensing image object classification extraction. © 2024 IEEE.

PrintListener: Uncovering the Vulnerability of Fingerprint Authentication via the Finger Friction Sound

Fingerprint authentication has been extensively employed in contemporary identity verification systems owing to its rapidity and cost-effectiveness. Due to its widespread use, fingerprint leakage may cause sensitive information theft, enormous economic and personnel losses, and even a potential compromise of national security. As a fingerprint that can coincidentally match a specific proportion of the overall fingerprint population, MasterPrint rings the alarm bells for the security of fingerprint authentication. In this paper, we propose a new side-channel attack on the minutiae-based Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), called PrintListener, which leverages users’ fingertip swiping actions on the screen to extract fingerprint pattern features (the first-level features) and synthesizes a stronger targeted PatternMasterPrint with potential second-level features. The attack scenario of PrintListener is extensive and covert. It only needs to record users’ fingertip friction sound and can be launched by leveraging a large number of social media platforms. Extensive experimental results in real-world scenarios show that Printlistener can significantly improve the attack potency of MasterPrint. © 2024, CC0.

Fil-Cad: A Fault Detection Method for Iiot Based on Federated Incremental Learning with Class Accuracy Distillation

Fault detection is a research topic attracting much attention in IIoT. However, the continuous accumulation and growth of IIoT data leads to the catastrophic forgetting problem in the fault detection model and data heterogeneity, which creates a bottleneck for the performance and generalization of federated learning in fault detection. To improve the fault detection performance of federated learning models in data incremental scenarios, we propose a federatedincremental-learning-based fault detection method for IIoT, namely FIL-CAD. Firstly, comparing the knowledge distillation, the accuracies of different data classes in the global and local models are chosen as the model lightweight learning features, and the loss function is weighted. Secondly, we introduce the concept of data learning depth. It computes different model weights in the aggregation based on their degrees of data sample learning and model training participation and obtains the global model through weighted aggregation. Additionally, FIL-CAD supports the combination of differential privacy to protect data privacy. The proposed method is compared with four benchmark methods on four datasets, which include CWRU and MFPT bearing datasets. Then, the experimental results show that FIL-CAD performs optimally in accuracy and F1-Score, and the average accuracy is improved by 1.32%-18.52%, demonstrating the superiority of FIL-CAD. © 2024, The Authors. Hierarchical Alignment-enhanced Adaptive Grounding Network for Generalized Referring Expression Comprehension

In this work, we address the challenging task of Generalized Referring Expression Comprehension (GREC). Compared to the classic Referring Expression Comprehension (REC) that focuses on single-target expressions, GREC extends the scope to a more practical setting by further encompassing notarget and multi-target expressions. Existing REC methods face challenges in handling the complex cases encountered in GREC, primarily due to their fixed output and limitations in multi-modal representations. To address these issues, we propose a Hierarchical Alignment-enhanced Adaptive Grounding Network (HieA2G) for GREC, which can flexibly deal with various types of referring expressions. First, a Hierarchical Multi-modal Semantic Alignment (HMSA) module is proposed to incorporate three levels of alignments, including word-object, phrase-object, and text-image alignment. It enables hierarchical cross-modal interactions across multiple levels to achieve comprehensive and robust multi-modal understanding, greatly enhancing grounding ability for complex cases. Then, to address the varying number of target objects in GREC, we introduce an Adaptive Grounding Counter (AGC) to dynamically determine the number of output targets. Additionally, an auxiliary contrastive loss is employed in AGC to enhance object-counting ability by pulling in multi-modal features with the same counting and pushing away those with different counting. Extensive experimental results show that HieA2G achieves new state-of-the-art performance on the challenging GREC task and also the other 4 tasks, including REC, Phrase Grounding, Referring Expression Segmentation (RES), and Generalized Referring Expression Segmentation (GRES), demonstrating the remarkable superiority and generalizability of the proposed HieA2G. On the time-independent Hamiltonian in real-time and imaginary-time quantum annealing

We present the analog analogue of Grover's problem as an example of the time-independent Hamiltonian for applying the speed limit of the imaginary-time Schrödinger equation derived by Okuyama and Ohzeki and the new class of energy-time uncertainty relation proposed by Kieu. It is found that the computational time of the imaginary-time quantum annealing of this Grover search can be exponentially small, while the counterpart of the quantum evolution driven by the real-time Schrödinger equation could only provide square root speedup, compared with classic search. The present results are consistent with the cases of the time-dependent quantum evolution of the natural Grover problem in previous works. We once again emphasize that the logarithm and square root algorithmic performances are generic in imaginary-time quantum annealing and quantum evolution driven by real-time Schrödinger equation, respectively. Also, we provide evidences to search deep reasons why the imaginary-time quantum annealing can lead to exponential speedup and the real-time quantum annealing can make square root speedup.

EDSep: An Effective Diffusion-Based Method for Speech Source Separation

Generative models have attracted considerable attention for speech separation tasks, and among these, diffusion-based methods are being explored. Despite the notable success of diffusion techniques in generation tasks, their adaptation to speech separation has encountered challenges, notably slow convergence and suboptimal separation outcomes. To address these issues and enhance the efficacy of diffusion-based speech separation, we introduce EDSep, a novel single-channel method grounded in score matching via stochastic differential equation (SDE). This method enhances generative modeling for speech source separation by optimizing training and sampling efficiency. Specifically, a novel denoiser function is proposed to approximate data distributions, which obtains ideal denoiser outputs. Additionally, a stochastic sampler is carefully designed to resolve the reverse SDE during the sampling process, gradually separating speech from mixtures. Extensive experiments on databases such as WSJ0-2mix, LRS2-2mix, and VoxCeleb2-2mix demonstrate our proposed method’s superior performance over existing diffusion and discriminative models, validating its efficacy. Metaverse is the next generation and the successor to the Internet. Various sectors allocated capital to adapt the metaverse due to its inherent importance. Cooperative intelligent Transportation Systems (C-ITS) is one of the important sectors that can benefit from metaverse adaptation and integration. The C-ITS and metaverse integration give rise to new use cases and cyber attacks. However, traditional Pseudonym Certificate (PCert) authentication based on Vehicular Public Key Infrastructure (VPKI) cannot meet the new use cases and thwart cyber attacks. We present a Differential Privacy (DP)-based PCert and avatar update model to ensure the privacy of end-devices (e.g., vehicles) in the C-ITS metaverse. The proposed DP-based model adds noise to avatar attributes (e.g., color, behavior) to prevent avatar linkage during the PCert update process. Our method ensures that PCerts and avatars cannot be linked to end-devices and the previous PCerts and avatars. We simulate the DP-based method to investigate it in terms of privacy, latency, color distortion, and adversarial success rate, and the results show that DP-based is effective and practical for avatar updates. © 2024 IEEE.
