This study centers on the application of vertical federated learning technology in the context of Internet banking loans, with a particular focus on innovations in data privacy protection, risk control model algorithms, and secure multi-party computation. Currently, banking risk control strategies mainly rely on traditional data processing technologies, which often fall short in protecting user privacy and ensuring data usage efficiency. We adopt vertical federated learning technology, offering an innovative solution for the Internet banking loan scenario. Firstly, regarding data privacy protection, we propose a differential privacy mechanism to safeguard user-sensitive data. Secondly, we innovatively apply risk control model algorithms, facilitating collaborative modeling across multiple Internet loan platforms through federated learning. Furthermore, we introduce secure multi-party computation technology to ensure the secure transmission of data and confidentiality of computation processes during federated learning. Through empirical experiments on real Internet loan datasets, we validate the effectiveness and feasibility of our proposed methods. After implementing our risk control model, the credit approval rate increased from 3.44% to 18.2%, with a single-day high reaching 25.53%. The average loan amount increased by 7,700 yuan, and the average interest rate slightly declined by 0.48%, marking a significant improvement and breakthrough compared to traditional risk control models. This study offers innovative solutions for data privacy protection and risk control in the Internet loan scenario, providing safer and more reliable services for financial institutions and users. Moreover, our methods possess high practicality and promotional value. The potential widespread impact on the industry is profound. © 2023 IEEE.

In light of recent advancements in Internet of Multimedia Things (IoMT) and 5G technology, both the variety and quantity of data have been rapidly increasing. Consequently, handling zero-shot cross-modal retrieval (ZSCMR) of unlabeled multi-modal data has emerged as a prominent research topic. Early models utilized generative adversarial networks and class embeddings to assist in building a common feature space. However, this approach resulted in a loss of reliability in the feature distributions of individual modalities. In this paper, we propose a method called Ranking on Heterogeneous Manifold (RHM) to address the aforementioned issue. Our model comprises three feature extractors, each dedicated to extracting features from text, images and multimodal data. Subsequently, the relationship structures derived from these feature extractors are employed to construct a heterogeneous manifold. A diffusion process is then conducted on this heterogeneous manifold, ultimately yielding the final ranking scores. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed modal has the capability to acquire more effective knowledge representation, thus enhancing the effectiveness of ZSCMR. © 2023 IEEE.

Approximate nearest neighbor search (ANNS) has emerged as a crucial component of database and AI infrastructure. Ever-increasing vector datasets pose significant challenges in terms of performance, cost, and accuracy for ANNS services. None of modern ANNS systems can address these issues simultaneously. In this paper, we present FusionANNS, a high-throughput, low-latency, cost-efficient, and high-accuracy ANNS system for billion-scale datasets using SSDs and only one entry-level GPU. The key idea of FusionANNS lies in CPU/GPU collaborative filtering and re-ranking mechanisms, which significantly reduce I/O operations across CPUs, GPU, and SSDs to break through the I/O performance bottleneck. Specifically, we propose three novel designs: (1) multi-tiered indexing to avoid data swapping between CPUs and GPU, (2) heuristic re-ranking to eliminate unnecessary I/Os and computations while guaranteeing high accuracy, and (3) redundant-aware I/O deduplication to further improve I/O efficiency. We implement FusionANNS and compare it with the state-of-the-art SSD-based ANNS system-SPANN and GPU-accelerated in-memory ANNS system-RUMMY. Experimental results show that FusionANNS achieves 1) 9.4-13.1× higher query per second (QPS) and 5.7-8.8× higher cost efficiency compared with SPANN;2) and 2-4.9× higher QPS and 2.3-6.8× higher cost efficiency compared with RUMMY, while guaranteeing low latency and high accuracy. © 2025 FAST. Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG)-based blockchain (a.k.a distributed ledger) has become prevalent for supporting highly concurrent applications. Its inherent parallel data structure accelerates block generation significantly, shifting the bottleneck from performance to storage scalability. An intuitive solution is to apply state sharding that divides the entire ledger (i.e., transactions and states) into multiple shards. While each node only stores proportional transactions, it suffers from the challenges of storing and ensuring the processing consistency of cross-shard transactions. In this paper, we propose SharDAG, a new mechanism that leverages adaptive sharding for DAG-based blockchains to achieve high performance and strong consistency. The key idea of SharDAG is to exploit unique characteristics -silent assets -and design a lightweight processing mechanism based on avatar account caching. Furthermore, we design a Byzantine resilient cross-shard verification mechanism with a theoretically optimal number of participating nodes, which guarantees the consistency and security of avatar account aggregation. Our comprehensive evaluations on real-world workloads demonstrate that SharDAG presents up to 3.8 x throughput improvement compared to the state-of-the-art and reduces the storage overhead of cross-shard transactions. © 2024 IEEE.

In the realm of recommendation systems, achieving real-time performance in embedding similarity tasks is often hindered by the limitations of traditional Top-K sparse matrix-vector multiplication (SpMV) methods, which suffer from high latency due to inefficient memory access patterns. This paper identifies these critical gaps and introduces AccelES, a novel approach that significantly enhances the efficiency of Top-K SpMV. Our method employs a two-stage calculation scheme: the first stage utilizes a compact, low-bit dataset to quickly identify the most relevant entries, while the second stage performs full-precision calculations solely on this pruned subset, thereby minimizing computational overhead. Furthermore, AccelES incorporates innovative matrix representations, Ultra-CSR and Random-CSR, which optimize memory bandwidth utilization. Experimental results demonstrate that AccelES accelerates performance, surpassing state-of-the-art FPGA, GPU, and CPU solutions by factors of 3.4×, 2.5×, and 153.3×, respectively, under controlled conditions. These advancements not only enhance processing speed but also significantly improve real-time performance in recommendation systems, establishing AccelES as a pivotal contribution to the field of Top-K sparse matrix-vector multiplication. © 2025 IEEE.

The customization and fragmentation of the Android ecosystem have fostered its prosperity and highlighted the growing importance of conducting security audits on these customized systems. This significance is driven by the distinct strategies that Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) deploy to enhance device performance and user experience, which are important to their competitive differentiation. A key aspect of these strategies includes system-level optimizations for super apps and other widely used apps, marking a competitive trend among OEMs. Granting privileges to such apps often stems from trust in these apps. However, without proper validation of apps' identities, this can lead to severe implicit trust vulnerabilities, providing a convenient pathway for malicious apps to impersonate privileged ones and gain their access rights. For malicious developers, exploiting these vulnerabilities is both cost-effective and potentially highly rewarding. In this study, we undertook a comprehensive analysis of 686 custom Android ROMs from 46 OEMs, aimed at uncovering potential security risks associated with implicit trust vulnerabilities in apps. Our investigation identified 3,085 instances where thirdparty app package names were embedded within the ROMs. Alarmingly, only seven of these instances had implemented adequate authentication mechanisms to mitigate the associated risks, exposing 3,078 potential vulnerabilities that exhibited an increasing trend over time. We have reported 22 manually confirmed cases to seven relevant OEMs. As of the time of writing this paper, four vulnerabilities have been explicitly acknowledged by the OEMs, and one has been assigned a CVE ID.

An end-to-end repair-based joint training framework for weakly supervised pavement crack segmentation

Weakly supervised pavement crack segmentation aims to assign each pixel of pavement surface images a category label (crack or non-crack) using limited annotation information. Most existing methods adopt the multi-stage approach based on the class activation map (CAM), which outputs from a pre-trained crack classification model, to generate the pixel-level pseudo labels, and then train a segmentation model using these pseudo labels. However, these methods have two notable drawbacks: (i) CAM focuses primarily on the most discriminative regions of the image, potentially resulting in an incomplete estimation of crack regions, and (ii) the process of obtaining pixel-level pseudo labels from CAM is complex and may introduce noise. To avoid these issues, we propose an end-to-end repair-based joint training framework for weakly supervised pavement crack segmentation. Specifically, to better guide the model to pay more attention to the repair process of crack regions, we introduce the segmentation loss, which assigns different weights for crack regions and background regions, through the Residual Project Network. Additionally, to alleviate the impact of the domain gap between synthetic and real datasets, we introduce the consistency loss through the joint training paradigm of unpaired data that incorporates both crack and non-crack images into the training process simultaneously. Furthermore, to enable the model to effectively extract local features and reduce the model's computational complexity, we introduce the Lightweight Multi-head Self-attention module. The experiment results on the CRACK500 dataset, the CFD dataset, and the AEL dataset demonstrate that our model achieves better performance than some existing weakly supervised pavement segmentation methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.
