Hybrid feature-based neural network regression method for load profiles forecasting

This study addresses the critical need for improved demand forecasting models that can accurately predict energy consumption, particularly in the context of varying geographical and climatic conditions. The work introduces a novel demand forecasting model that integrates clustering techniques and feature engineering into neural network regression, with a specific focus on incorporating correlations with air temperature. Evaluation of the model’s efficacy utilized a benchmark dataset from Tetouan, Morocco, where existing forecasting methods yielded RMSE values ranging from 6429 to 10,220 [MWh]. In contrast, the proposed approach achieved a significantly lower RMSE of 5168, indicating its superiority. Subsequent application of the model to forecast demand in Astana, Kazakhstan, as a case study, showcased its efficacy further. Comparative analysis against a baseline neural network method revealed a notable improvement, with the proposed model exhibiting a MAPE of 5.19% compared to the baseline’s 17.36%. These findings highlight the potential of the proposed approach to enhance demand forecasting accuracy, particularly across diverse geographical contexts, by leveraging climate-related inputs, the methodology also demonstrates potential for broader applications, such as flood forecasting, agricultural yield prediction, or water resource management. © The Author(s) 2025.

The electricity consumption of large enterprises, apart from their inherent characteristics, is also influenced by various factors such as climate, economy, and international situations. By leveraging big data from more diverse and abundant sources (including historical electricity consumption data, financial data, weather data, holiday data, etc.), it is possible to identify relevant factors and establish higher-dimensional prediction models, thereby improving the accuracy of electricity consumption forecasts. This paper uses the electricity consumption prediction of an industrial chain in a chemical park as a case study. By employing a sliding window method based on big data random matrix theory, and identifying highly correlated influencing factors, we use XGBoost to build a high-dimensional electricity prediction model, effectively enhancing the prediction accuracy. This prediction method has significant application value in practical engineering. © State Grid Electric Power 2025.

Approximate nearest neighbor search (ANNS) has emerged as a crucial component of database and AI infrastructure. Ever-increasing vector datasets pose significant challenges in terms of performance, cost, and accuracy for ANNS services. None of modern ANNS systems can address these issues simultaneously. In this paper, we present FusionANNS, a high-throughput, low-latency, cost-efficient, and high-accuracy ANNS system for billion-scale datasets using SSDs and only one entry-level GPU. The key idea of FusionANNS lies in CPU/GPU collaborative filtering and re-ranking mechanisms, which significantly reduce I/O operations across CPUs, GPU, and SSDs to break through the I/O performance bottleneck. Specifically, we propose three novel designs: (1) multi-tiered indexing to avoid data swapping between CPUs and GPU, (2) heuristic re-ranking to eliminate unnecessary I/Os and computations while guaranteeing high accuracy, and (3) redundant-aware I/O deduplication to further improve I/O efficiency. We implement FusionANNS and compare it with the state-of-the-art SSD-based ANNS system-SPANN and GPU-accelerated in-memory ANNS system-RUMMY. Experimental results show that FusionANNS achieves 1) 9.4-13.1× higher query per second (QPS) and 5.7-8.8× higher cost efficiency compared with SPANN;2) and 2-4.9× higher QPS and 2.3-6.8× higher cost efficiency compared with RUMMY, while guaranteeing low latency and high accuracy. © 2025 FAST. The advent of the "pre-train, prompt'' paradigm has recently extended its generalization ability and data efficiency to graph representation learning, following its achievements in Natural Language Processing (NLP). Initial graph prompt tuning approaches tailored specialized prompting functions for Graph Neural Network (GNN) models pre-trained with specific strategies, such as edge prediction, thus limiting their applicability. In contrast, another pioneering line of research has explored universal prompting via adding prompts to the input graph's feature space, thereby removing the reliance on specific pre-training strategies. However, the necessity to add feature prompts to all nodes remains an open question. Motivated by findings from prompt tuning research in the NLP domain, which suggest that highly capable pre-trained models need less conditioning signal to achieve desired behaviors, we advocate for strategically incorporating necessary and lightweight feature prompts to certain graph nodes to enhance downstream task performance. This introduces a combinatorial optimization problem, requiring a policy to decide 1) which nodes to prompt and 2) what specific feature prompts to attach. We then address the problem by framing the prompt incorporation process as a sequential decision-making problem and propose our method, RELIEF, which employs Reinforcement Learning (RL) to optimize it. At each step, the RL agent selects a node (discrete action) and determines the prompt content (continuous action), aiming to maximize cumulative performance gain. Extensive experiments on graph and node-level tasks with various pre-training strategies in few-shot scenarios demonstrate that our RELIEF outperforms fine-tuning and other prompt-based approaches in classification performance and data efficiency. Video Character Social Relationship Recognition (VCSRR) requires a comprehensive consideration about spatio-temporal and multi-modal clues in videos. Most existing methods mainly focus on integrating multi-modal clues and modeling interactions among characters. However, they fail to discover key clues in the complex video data or fully understand the clues related to social relationships. In this article, we propose a novel Large Language Model Enhanced Key Clues Selection (LEKCS) framework to address the aforementioned issues. The core of LE-KCS is to mine multi-scale key clues from the perspectives of time, space and multi-modality, then transfer the knowledge about social relationships of the Large Language Model to VCSRR for understanding the selected clues. We evaluated LEKCS on the MovieGraphs dataset and the experimental results indicate that our proposed LE-KCS achieves state-of-the-art performance. © 2025 IEEE.

Group Emotion Recognition (GER) seeks to identify emotional states within multi-person groups. The complexity of the environment and the reliance on a single group emotion label often result in noisy individuals with inconsistent emotional expressions, hampering accurate emotion classification. Mainstream GER networks attempt to downweight noisy individuals, but when their numbers are high and over-relying on a single group label, the negative impact of noise on individuals remains significant, further complicating classification and diminishing accuracy. To address these limitations, we propose the Multi-Scale Contextual and Noise Suppression Model (MCon-NSM), a novel framework that enhances GER by capturing fine-grained interaction contexts and collaboratively suppressing noise at both the individual and group label levels. Extensive experiments on the GAF series datasets demonstrate that our method achieves results comparable to state-of-the-art techniques, validating its effectiveness in mitigating noise in GER. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper presents a high-performance reconfigurable wideband true-time-delay (TTD) phase shifter based on a defected ground structure (DGS). Impedance matching is enhanced by incorporating two identical microstrip stubs, which function effectively in both the “ON” and “OFF” states of the PIN diodes. A 6-unit DGS-based reconfigurable TTD phase shifter was designed to operate from 0.5 GHz to 2.5 GHz with an insertion loss below 1 dB. Finally, the proposed phase shifter successfully mitigates beam squinting when connected in series within an antenna array.

Generative models have attracted considerable attention for speech separation tasks, and among these, diffusion-based methods are being explored. Despite the notable success of diffusion techniques in generation tasks, their adaptation to speech separation has encountered challenges, notably slow convergence and suboptimal separation outcomes. To address these issues and enhance the efficacy of diffusion-based speech separation, we introduce EDSep, a novel single-channel method grounded in score matching via stochastic differential equation (SDE). This method enhances generative modeling for speech source separation by optimizing training and sampling efficiency. Specifically, a novel denoiser function is proposed to approximate data distributions, which obtains ideal denoiser outputs. Additionally, a stochastic sampler is carefully designed to resolve the reverse SDE during the sampling process, gradually separating speech from mixtures. Extensive experiments on databases such as WSJ0-2mix, LRS2-2mix, and VoxCeleb2-2mix demonstrate our proposed method's superior performance over existing diffusion and discriminative models, validating its efficacy. © 2025 IEEE.

AdvMap: Crafting Adversarial Maps to Counter AI Aimbot in First-Person Shooter Games

AI-based automatic aiming cheats (a.k.a., AI aimbots) have proliferated in first-person shooter (FPS) games, which grant malicious users an unfair gameplay advantage. Since AI aimbots operate independently of game data and are developed using object detection algorithms, they are difficult to detect with traditional anti-cheating methods. To actively counter AI aimbots, we propose AdvMap, which introduces invisible adversarial perturbations into game scene elements. In optimizing these adversarial perturbations, we design a mixture-of-misleading loss function that increases the total target confidence score within each misleading bounding box. It mitigates the risk of segment missing even when AdvMap is obscured, thereby enhancing the robustness. Besides, an L1-norm constraint with a small scale is employed during each update of the adversarial perturbations, which preserves the fidelity of the game scene. Additionally, to enable effective adaptation to interact with various elements within game environments, we introduce an Image-Subspace-Based Multi-Directional (ISMD) optimization strategy. It enables the adversarial perturbations to adaptively fit into each element by leveraging the mapping relationship between the game's 3D scenes and its corresponding 2D images. Furthermore, we construct a comprehensive benchmark, which includes various FPS games with different graphics styles and perspectives. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the efficacy of our method in countering various AI aimbot tools on different state-of-the-art object detection methods. © 2021 IEEE.
