High blood pressure is a highly heritable and modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease. We report the largest genetic association study of blood pressure traits (systolic, diastolic and pulse pressure) to date in over 1 million people of European ancestry. We identify 535 novel blood pressure loci that not only offer new biological insights into blood pressure regulation but also highlight shared genetic architecture between blood pressure and lifestyle exposures. Our findings identify new biological pathways for blood pressure regulation with potential for improved cardiovascular disease prevention in the future.

Recent years,an amount of tourism micro-blog comments on the Internet have become an important source of information for potential customers and to improve the service quality. These micro-blog comments do help to research tourism resources or services before making decisions. Thus,sentiment analysis of tourism micro-blog comments has become a hot issue in the field of natural language processing and text mining. We designed a system called SASTMC by using web crawler,Chinese words segmentation,emotion words dictionary and an improved TF-IDF algorithm. It enhances expression ability of sentiment information of text words. Experiments on Sina micro-blog comments datasets demonstrate that our method can do the task well.

Membrane computing, a recent branch of natural computing, has been gaining momentum attention in the last few decades due to its massive parallelism and efficient computation. Many researchers in the field of membrane computing have proposed sophisticated techniques inspired by cell biology for computer science applications, especially when they considered cell organization in tissues, organs, and most recently, from the organization of neurons. The interdisciplinary applications of membrane computing include, but not limited to computer science, biology, biomedicine, bioinformatics and several other fields such as mathematics, artificial intelligence, automation, economics, to name but a few. Their applications are pertaining to computer graphics, approximate optimization, cryptography, parallel computing and image processing. Hence, in this paper we present an up to date comprehensive literature review pertaining to the application of membrane computing in the area of digital image analysis, especially image segmentation, comprehensively and systematically. We thoroughly investigate the recent advancement in the field of image segmentation using membrane system. Furthermore, we highlight the merits and demerits of various software tools and methods. Dynamic videos are viewed fundamentally different from static images. Besides spatial features, motion feature also plays an important role as a temporal factor. Most existing video saliency models usually employ optical flow to represent the motion feature. However, optical flow often suffers from the discontinuity problem. And we also notice that human fixations in one single video frame are much sparser than that in an identical still picture. However, many spatial saliency models take each video frame as static image independently. In this paper, we predict the dynamic visual saliency by fusing spatial and temporal features. In order to construct the temporal relationships among a set of successive frames, we introduce a smoothness operator in optical flow field to obtain more accurate motion feature. Then, considering the sparse property of video saliency, we adapt the weights of the regions surrounding to the saliency gravity center in the final maps. The experiments show that our model is more consistent with humans eye-tracking benchmarks than the state-of-the-art models.

The problem of Matrix Completion (MC) refers to the process of adding entries for unknown or missing values in a matrix. In this paper, we study the convex matrix completion problem in the form of trace norm bounding. Specifically, we propose a robust solution for this problem based on trace-ball optimization, which can creatively change the original trace norm constraint into the problem of low-rank matrix factorization. Therefore, by searching in a ball space defined by the new trace constraint, the rank of new matrix can be self-determined such that the local minimum for matrix factorization is the global minimum for the original matrix completion task. Meanwhile, we define a free parameter γ to control the model complexity of our approach in terms of how well it fits the training data. Particularly, we identify a value of γb, which is the minimal value of the trace norm, in a way such that the model can exactly fit the known entries in the matrix. Furthermore, we also empirically reveal an important property of our approach: that is, a variable η∗ generated by γ is always stable with the increase of the amount of training data. This can help to speed up the tuning of optimal parameters for large matrices. Finally, extensive experiments on several real-world datasets clearly validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Copyright © SIAM.

The location of a mobile user is used to deliver context sensitive information like advertisements and deals. Predicting the future possible locations of a mobile user can help target specific services. Nokia provided researchers with data collected from around 200 mobile users over a period of about 2 years for the purpose of research. Previous efforts have attempted either to predict the location of the user or the semantics associated with a location. In our work, we demonstrate that using a multi-level approach by predicting the semantics of a location and then the specific location within helps improve the accuracy of the prediction. We have shown that for certain semantic locations, the prediction accuracy can be as high as 90%.

No reference video quality assessment (NR-VQA) measures distorted videos quantitatively without the reference of original high quality videos. Conventional NR-VQA methods are generally designed for specific types of distortions, or not consistent with human's perception. This paper innovatively introduces 3D deep convolutional neural network (3D-CNN) into VQA and proposes a 3D-CNN based NR-VQA method, which is universal for non-specific types of distortions. First, the proposed method utilizes 3D patches to learn spatio-temporal features that represent video content effectively. Second, the original 3D-CNN model is modified which is used to classify videos to make it adapt to VQA task. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed method is highly consistent with human's perception across numerous distortions and metrics. Compared with other state-of-the-art no-reference VQA methods, the proposed method runs much faster while keeping the similar performance. As a no-reference VQA method, it is even comparable with many of the state-of-the-art full-reference VQA methods, which provides the proposed method with better application prospects. © Copyright 2016, institute of Software, the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In this paper, we propose a novel model for unsupervised segmentation of viewer's attention object from natural images based on localizing region-based active con-tour (LRAC). Firstly, we proposed the saliency detection model via the multi-scale super-pixel. Then, object-level shape prior is extracted combining saliency with object boundary information. Finally, this contour is improved by the edge-preserving to generate the initial contour for our automatic object segmentation system. In contrast with localiz-ing region-based active contours that require considerable user interaction, the proposed method does not require it, i.e., the segmentation task is ful_lled in a fully automatic manner. Extensive experiments results on a large variety of natural images demonstrate that our algorithm consistently outperforms the popular existing salient object segmenta-tion methods, yielding higher precision and better recall rates. © 2016 ICIC International.
