Regarding the passive WiFi sensing based crowd analysis, this paper first theoretically investigates its limitations, and then proposes a deep learning based scheme targeted for returning fine-grained crowd states in large surveillance areas. To this end, three key challenges are coped with: to relieve the influences of the randomness and sparsity induced by passive WiFi sensing, an attention-based deep convolutional autoencoder model is designed to recover accurate crowd density maps in a way similar to image reconstruction;to combat the anonymity caused by MAC randomization, following the identification of local high-density crowds (LHDCs) with the density clustering algorithm, i.e. DM-DBSCAN, a bidirectional convolutional LSTM based model is employed to infer LHDC speeds;to overcome the absence of passive WiFi sensing datasets for model training, three semi-synthetic datasets are produced by emulating passive WiFi sensing with practical pedestrian tracking datasets. Extensive experiments confirm that, the proposed scheme significantly outperforms existing WiFi-based methods in terms of crowd density estimation and provides superior crowd speed estimation. More importantly, the scheme can also produce consistent crowd states on a real-world dataset, revealing that it has the ability to support accurate, visualized and real-time crowd monitoring in large surveillance areas. © 2023, CC BY-NC-SA.

Prediction of crude oil prices is important in energy because of its significant impact on global markets and socioeconomic stability. Several machine learning methods have been employed to assist the industry. One of the popular neural network methods, Long Term Short Memory (LSTM), has demonstrated its ability to predict time series data, particularly in predicting crude oil prices. However, the prediction performance still requires more research and evaluation to improve accuracy. This paper introduces a novel methodology that embeds Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) into LSTM networks to minimize prediction errors. This study independently examines and identifies the most efficient hyperparameters within a ring topology of PSO, utilizing historical data on crude oil prices. The empirical findings indicate that the LSTM-PSO approach exhibits superior predictive accuracy compared to conventional LSTM networks and statistical time series techniques. The results suggest that the LSTM-PSO model demonstrates enhanced proficiency in capturing crude oil price patterns.

Face forgery detection (FFD) is devoted to detecting the authenticity of face images. Although current CNN-based works achieve outstanding performance in FFD, they are susceptible to capturing local forgery patterns generated by various manipulation methods. Though transformer-based detectors exhibit improvements in modeling global dependencies, they are not good at exploring local forgery artifacts. Hybrid transformer-based networks are designed to capture local and global manipulated traces, but they tend to suffer from the attention collapse issue as the transformer block goes deeper. Besides, soft labels are rarely available. In this paper, we propose a distilled transformer network (DTN) to capture both rich local and global forgery traces and learn general and common representations for different forgery faces. Specifically, we design a mixture of expert (MoE) module to mine various robust forgery embeddings. Moreover, a locally-enhanced vision transformer (LEVT) module is proposed to learn locally-enhanced global representations. We design a lightweight multi-attention scaling (MAS) module to avoid attention collapse, which can be plugged and played in any transformer-based models with only a slight increase in computational costs. In addition, we propose a deepfake self-distillation (DSD) scheme to provide the model with abundant soft label information. The current discrepancy between the CMB and weak lensing measurements of the amplitude of matter fluctuations, the so-called S8 tension, has attracted a great deal of recent attention, as it may show a crack in the ΛCDM model of cosmology. We review the evidence for this tension and describe potential solutions, focusing on extensions of the standard cosmological model, including interacting dark energy and modified gravity. We present a likelihood analysis of the BOSS DR12 data, probing these alternative models as well as ΛCDM. From this analysis, we show hints of non-standard cosmology compatible with those seen in weak lensing observations, demonstrating that interacting dark energy or modified gravity can explain them successfully. We then discuss the robustness of these results to analysis choices, as well as future paths to confirm them with additional data and further distinguish between models. © 2023, CC BY.

This paper discusses the difficulty of transforming a trait-based model to a Markov Chain Model when the source model is a behavioral model. Therefore, we propose an innovative approach aimed at transforming trait-based models into Markov Chain Models. Our method hinges on the utilization of the Trait Component Ensemble Language (TCOEL) and the establishment of a unified model transformation specification at the meta-model level. Through this approach, we facilitate the seamless conversion of trait-based models into Markov Chain Models, thereby enhancing the adaptability and scope of the original models. The trait-based model presents quite challenging for transforming the behavioral traits directly into verification language. To overcome this difficulty, we analyzed the language behaviors using the fire brigade case study. Then, we used the description to identify and map the appropriate component in order to develop a CTMC model. Finally, we used PRISM model checker to undertake verification.

Gastric cancer (GC) presents challenges in predicting treatment responses due to its patient-specific heterogeneity. Recently, liquid biopsies have become recognized as a valuable data modality, offering essential cellular and molecular insights and enabling the capture of time-sensitive information. This study aimed to harness artificial intelligence (AI) technology to analyze longitudinal liquid biopsy data. We collected a dataset from longitudinal liquid biopsies of 91 patients at Peking Cancer Hospital, spanning from July 2019 to April 2022, which included 1,895 tumor-related cellular images and 1,698 tumor marker indices. Subsequently, we introduced the Dynamic-Aware Model (DAM) to predict GC treatment responses. DAM incorporates the dynamic data through AI-engineered components, enabling an in-depth longitudinal analysis. Utilizing three-fold cross-validation, DAM exhibited superior performance over traditional cell-counting-based methods, achieving an AUC of 0.807 in predicting GC treatment responses. In the test set, DAM maintained stable efficacy with an AUC of 0.802. Besides, DAM showed the capability to accurately predict treatment responses from early treatment data. Moreover, DAM's visual analysis of attention mechanisms identified six dynamic focus-area-related visual features and their strong association with treatment response. Anaerobic fermentation is the most important link to gas production, this paper solves the current problem with the help of the current complete machine learning technology, combining perception and intelligent processing, intelligent processing of information, and derive a decision-making basis for its control or management [1]. Aiming at the current problems of the anaerobic fermentation process in biogas engineering, the system design was carried out, and the anaerobic fermentation process of biogas and its main influencing factors were investigated, and the monitoring parameters of the system were selected to be temperature, PH value, liquid level and redox potential [2]. Previous studies are mainly based on a single prediction model, which leads to poor generalization ability of the model. In this study, unbalanced samples are handled by Borderline-SMOTE algorithm. Based on the Stacking integrated learning approach, a common single prediction model is used to construct a combined prediction model. The accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score and area under the ROC curve are used to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the combined prediction model over the single prediction model.

The rapid development of single-cell RNA sequencing technology has opened new horizons for biomedical research. As the initial step in single-cell data analysis, clustering forms the foundation for downstream analyses. However, due to the inherent high dimensionality, noise, and sparsity of single-cell data, most current clustering methods exhibit poor stability. To address these limitations, we propose a novel clustering method based on multi-view generation (scCMVG) coupled with noise perturbation. Specifically, scCMVG introduces disturbances at both gene level and cellular level to disrupt the original associations between genes and cells. It then employs autoencoder and graph convolutional network to reconstruct the disturbed data and generate new feature representations from it. Through this strategy, the model's noise resistance can be enhanced, increasing the ability to capture diverse cellular states and gene expression patterns. Experimental results demonstrate scCMVG superior clustering performance across multiple single-cell RNA sequencing datasets, outperforming existing methods. Existing temporal community search suffers from two defects: (i) they ignore the temporal proximity between the query vertex q and other vertices but simply require the result to include q. Thus, they find many temporal irrelevant vertices (these vertices are called query-drifted vertices) to q for satisfying their cohesiveness, resulting in q being marginalized;(ii) their methods are NP-hard, incurring high costs for exact solutions or compromised qualities for approximate/heuristic algorithms. Inspired by these, we propose a novel problem named query-centered temporal community search to circumvent query-drifted vertices. Specifically, we first present a novel concept of Time-Constrained Personalized PageRank to characterize the temporal proximity between q and other vertices. Then, we introduce a model called β-temporal proximity core, which can combine temporal proximity and structural cohesiveness. Subsequently, our problem is formulated as an optimization task that finds a β-temporal proximity core with the largest β. To solve our problem, we first devise an exact and near-linear time greedy removing algorithm that iteratively removes unpromising vertices. To improve efficiency, we then design an approximate two-stage local search algorithm with bound-based pruning techniques. Finally, extensive experiments on eight real-life datasets and nine competitors show the superiority of the proposed solutions. © 2023, CC BY.
