Thermal-aware routing protocols in WBANs consider temperature factors in the routing process for preventing overheating of the tissues surrounding the sensor ***,providing an energy-efficient and thermal-aware routing in WBANs is a challenging *** deal with this problem,this article presents a novel temperature-aware routing protocol that applies Mamdani-based Fuzzy Logic Controllers(FLCs)for selecting the next forwarding node in routing data *** FLCs apply five important input factors such as the priority of the packet,and sensor node's remaining energy,temperature,distance,and link path ***,a new hybrid version of the Marine Predator Algorithm(MPA),named MPAOA is presented by combining the exploration and exploitation phases of the MPA and Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm(AOA).This algorithm is effectively applied for selecting the best possible set of fuzzy rules for FLCs and tuning their fuzzy *** experiments conducted in the Castalia simulator exhibit that the proposed temperature and priority-aware routing scheme can outperform other well-known routing schemes such as LATOR,TTRP,TAEO,ATAR,and EOCC-TARA in terms of metrics such as sensor nodes lifetime,the average temperature of the sensor nodes,and the percentage of the packets routed through non-overheated ***,it is shown that the MPAOA outperforms other algorithms such as Bat Algorithm(BA),Genetic Algorithm(GA),AOA,and MPA regarding the specified metrics.

In the realm of recommendation systems, achieving real-time performance in embedding similarity tasks is often hindered by the limitations of traditional Top-K sparse matrix-vector multiplication (SpMV) methods, which suffer from high latency due to inefficient memory access patterns. This paper identifies these critical gaps and introduces AccelES, a novel approach that significantly enhances the efficiency of Top-K SpMV. Our method employs a two-stage calculation scheme: the first stage utilizes a compact, low-bit dataset to quickly identify the most relevant entries, while the second stage performs full-precision calculations solely on this pruned subset, thereby minimizing computational overhead. Furthermore, AccelES incorporates innovative matrix representations, Ultra-CSR and Random-CSR, which optimize memory bandwidth utilization. Experimental results demonstrate that AccelES accelerates performance, surpassing state-of-the-art FPGA, GPU, and CPU solutions by factors of 3.4×, 2.5×, and 153.3×, respectively, under controlled conditions. These advancements not only enhance processing speed but also significantly improve real-time performance in recommendation systems, establishing AccelES as a pivotal contribution to the field of Top-K sparse matrix-vector multiplication.

This paper presents a comprehensive examination of the current state of underrepresentation of women in computer science (CS) degrees in Spain. It offers an overview of the situation across autonomous communities in Spain, highlighting the evolving trends within the country, regional variations, and the distinctions between public and private universities. The research employs descriptive statistical methods to analyze data obtained from the Spanish Ministry of Universities, Eurostat, as well as recent literature reviews. Furthermore, the study contextualizes the evolution of female enrollments in Spain by comparing it with data from other European countries. The primary objective is to gain a thorough understanding of the broader Spanish landscape and suggest future research directions aimed at reducing the gender gap in CS studies.

Multi-agent Collaboration for Vehicular Task Offloading Using Federated Deep Reinforcement Learning

Mobile Edge computing (MEC) distributes resources such as computing, storage, and bandwidth to the side close to users, which can provide low-latency services to in-vehicle users, thus promising a more efficient and safer driving environment. However, due to the dynamic scale of vehicle and the variability of resource requirements, it is a significant challenge to quickly obtain effective task offloading in large-scale vehicle scenarios. The existing studies generally adopt the centralized decision-making method, with long decision-making time and high computational overhead, which cannot effectively achieve good offloading decisions in large-scale scenarios. To address these problems, we propose a Multi-agent Collaborative Method for vehicular task offloading using Federated Deep Reinforcement Learning called MCM-FDRL. First, each vehicle as an agent, independently makes offloading decisions based on local information. Next, the offloading decision model of each vehicle is obtained through federated reinforcement learning training. At runtime, an effective vehicle offloading plan can be gradually developed through multi-agent collaboration. Using two real-world datasets, experiments show that the MCM-FDRL has good adaptability and scalability. Moreover, compared to the state-of-the-art methods, the task's average response time of the MCM-FDRL is reduced by 9.75%-64.90%, respectively. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Various forms of social interactions are often char-acterized by toxic or offensive words that can be collectively referred to as offensive languages, which has become a unique linguistic phenomenon in social media platforms. How to detect and identify these offensive languages in social media platforms has become one of the important research in the field of natural language processing. Existing methods utilize machine learning algorithms or text representation models based on deep learning to learn the features of offensive languages and identify them, which have achieved good performances. However, traditional machine learning-based methods mainly rely on keyword identi-fication and blocking, deep learning-based methods do not ade-quately explore the fused deep semantic features of the content by combining word-level embeddings and sentence-level deep semantic feature representations of sentences, which cannot ef-fectively identify offensive languages that do not contain common offensive words but indicate offensive meanings. In this research, we propose a novel offensive language identification model based on deep semantic feature fusion, which uses the pre-trained model Bert to obtain word-level embedding representations of offensive languages, and then integrates the RCNN that combines with the attention mechanism to extract the fused deep semantic feature representations of offensive languages, and label encoder and offensive predictor to improve the identification accuracy and generalization ability of the model so that the performances of the model do not rely on the offensive language lexicon entirely and can identify offensive languages that do not contain common offensive words but indicate offensive meanings. Experimental results on Wikipedia and Twitter comment datasets show that our proposed model can better understand the context and discover potential offensive meanings, and outperforms existing methods. © 2022 IEEE.

Fine-tuning pre-trained language models, such as BERT, has shown enormous success among various NLP tasks. Though simple and effective, the process of fine-tuning has been found unstable, which often leads to unexpected poor performance. To increase stability and generalizability, most existing works resort to maintaining the parameters or representations of pre-trained models during fine-tuning. Nevertheless, very little work explores mining the reliable part of pre-learned information that can help to stabilize fine-tuning. To address this challenge, we introduce a novel solution in which we fine-tune BERT with stabilized cross-layer mutual information. Our method aims to preserve the reliable behaviors of cross-layer information propagation, instead of preserving the information itself, of the pre-trained model. Therefore, our method circumvents the domain conflicts between pre-trained and target tasks. We conduct extensive experiments with popular pre-trained BERT variants on NLP datasets, demonstrating the universal effectiveness and robustness of our method. © 2023 IEEE.

Multi-Dimensional Training Optimization for Efficient Federated Synergy Learning

Edge learning (EL) is an end-to-edge collaborative learning paradigm enabling devices to participate in model training and data analysis, opening countless opportunities for edge intelligence. As a promising EL framework, federated synergy learning (FSyL) mitigates the computation and communication overhead on resource-constrained devices by offloading partial model layers to the edge server for synergistic training. Nevertheless, due to the system and statistical heterogeneity, naively using existing FSyL methods is significantly time-consuming and causes accuracy degradation. Motivated by this issue, this paper introduces a novel FSyL framework that integrates multi-dimensional training optimization and formulates the edge learning cost minimization (ELCM) problem. To tackle the ELCM efficiently, we design OL-MG, an OnLine Model Splitting and Resource Provisioning Game. Specifically, we first reformulate and decompose the original ELCM based on data quality evaluation. Then, given a model splitting decision, we determine the optimal resource provisioning in Sub-problem1, based on which optimal model splitting in Sub-problem2 is modeled as a potential game. Subsequently, we introduce a decentralized algorithm to find a Nash equilibrium (NE) solution. Furthermore, we further extend OL-MG to support a budget-aware multi-edge scenario. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed mechanism significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods in cost-saving and accuracy improvement. © 2025 IEEE.

To solve the problem that a large number of noise labels lead to the reduction of the efficiency of existing aggregation Algorithmic efficiency and the difficulty of extending existing methods to the privacy protection framework, a noise label oriented privacy protection Federated learning aggregation algorithm PP-ASNL is proposed. This algorithm is mainly divided into two parts: a client-side noise label sample detection model and a server-side model rating aggregation mechanism. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has higher model accuracy and Rate of convergence than the existing methods. © 2023 IEEE.

X-ray machines are vital in medical imaging for viewing internal body structures. However, in lumbar vertebrae surgery, the X-ray machine has to move and position frequently and manually, which risks infection, misalignment, and overexposure to radiation. There’s a need for mobile X-ray machines with autonomous recognition and positioning. Although visual servoing suitable for X-ray positioning naturally, it still experiencing challenges like limited Field-of-View (FOV) and the structural similarity among vertebrae. In this paper, a Bayesian Estimation based approach is developed to improve the detection accuracy in case of vertebrae positions outside the FOV. Furthermore, a visual servoing method is proposed for X-ray positioning, considering their mechanical structure and imaging characteristics. The experiment results indicates that the proposed approach improves lumbar vertebrae detection accuracy significantly. This approach facilitates precise positioning in X-ray imaging and enhances the safety and effectiveness of lumbar vertebrae surgery.

Aiming at the low carrying rate and high fuel consumption cost of vehicle routing optimization, a vehicle routing model with time window is constructed. An improved dragonfly algorithm integrated with random learning strategy is designed and applied to solve the problem. The real-value calculation form of the five behaviors of the original dragonfly algorithm is changed into random learning target position pairs and applied to vehicle routing problem with time windows. By comparing the results with those of other three algorithms, the effectiveness and feasibility of improved effective dragon algorithm are further verified, which can reasonably allocate logistics capacity and human resources, and realize the cost reduction and efficiency increase of enterprise business. © 2023 IEEE.
