The social network-based recommendation model use social network information to mitigate data sparsity issues and improve the accuracy of recommendation models. However, In most social network-based recommendation algorithms, the social neighbors' contributions are difficult to distinguish from the central user's, neglecting hidden correlations in social infor-mation. In order to solve this problem, this paper presents a graph-based contrastive learning framework for social-enhanced recommendation (SoGCLR) that utilizes implicit social information captured by a new social relation attention mechanism, en-rich user representations, and improve model robustness through graph-based contrastive learning. Specifically, the paper captures the degree of contribution of each neighbor in the social graph to the central user through a social relation attention layer, thus obtaining hidden correlations in social information, and further integrates this with user information in the user-item interaction graph to enrich user representations. In addition, the paper incorporates graph-based contrastive learning into the recommendation task using cross-layer contrastive learning, calculating contrastive loss and mapping nodes with similar but different exposure rates to nearby regions to mitigate exposure bias issues. Results from Ciao and Epinions demonstrate that SoGCLR reduces RMSE and MAE by 1.33% to 1.84% compared with baseline models. © 2023 IEEE.

Hypergraph Neural Networks (HGNNs) are increasingly utilized to analyze complex inter-entity relationships. Traditional HGNN systems, based on a hyperedge-centric dataflow model, independently process aggregation tasks for hyperedges and vertices, leading to significant computational redundancy. This redundancy arises from recalculating shared information across different tasks. For the first time, we identify and harness implicit dataflows (i.e., dependencies) within HGNNs, introducing the microedge concept to effectively capture and reuse intricate shared information among aggregation tasks, thereby minimizing redundant computations. We have developed a new microedge-centric dataflow model that processes shared information as fine-grained microedge aggregation tasks. This dataflow model is supported by the Read-Process-Activate-Generate execution model, which aims to optimize parallelism among these tasks. Furthermore, our newly developed MeHyper, a microedge-centric HGNN accelerator, incorporates a decoupled pipeline for improved computational parallelism and a hierarchical feature management strategy to reduce off-chip memory accesses for large volumes of intermediate feature vectors generated. Our evaluation demonstrates that MeHyper substantially outperforms the leading CPUbased system PyG-CPU and the GPU-based system HyperGef, delivering performance improvements of $1,032.23 \times$ and $10.51 \times$, and energy efficiencies of $1,169.03 \times$ and $9.96 \times$, respectively.

Circuit area optimization of multi-output MPRM based on ERWOA algorithm

Mixed polarity Reed-Muller (MPRM) circuit area optimization has become a research hotspot in the field of integrated circuit design. It is a combinatorial optimization, aiming at finding the MPRM expression with the least number of terms among many MPRM expressions. A explosion strategy and restart strategy based whale optimization algorithm (ERWOA) is proposed. In addition, a multi-output MPRM circuit area optimization method is proposed, which uses the improved whale algorithm and the improved polarity conversion algorithm to search for the MPRM circuit with the least number of AND terms. Results on the MCNC Benchmark circuits show that the proposed algorithm increases the conversion efficiency by 99.93% and 99.96% at most, compared with the mixed polarity and inter-polarity conversion algorithms based on the list technology, respectively. Compared with the genetic algorithm and the artificial bee colony algorithm, the improved whale optimization algorithm saves the circuit area up to 18.32% with an average of 5.54%, and 14.41% with an average of 5.00%, respectively. © 2023 Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA). Named data Networking (NDN) is an information-centric internet architecture that delivers packets based on the name of the content in the packet. A key component of NDN is the caching strategy designed to reduce total network latency and load on content producers. To improve the speed and reliability of web content delivery, existing caching strategies typically cache content on a large number of intermediate nodes, which incur significant energy consumption and memory overhead. However, in Internet of Things (IoT) scenarios, memory and energy of nodes are scarce resources. Therefore, in NDN-based IoT applications, traditional caching strategies can cause node failures due to energy depletion, which can significantly reduce the network operational lifetime as well as create problems that caching is supposed to solve. In this paper, a caching strategy based on node centrality and energy availability, called Energy-aware Approximate Betweenness Centrality (EABC) is proposed for NDN-based IoT. EABC uses a topology-based heuristic to cache data content on nodes with high centrality and makes caching decisions based on the remaining energy of the nodes. We evaluate EABC using simulations based on ndnSIM in different topologies and compare it with several existing NDN caching strategies. The results show that EABC performs better in different types of network topologies, reduces the average transmission delay of data and balances the energy consumption of highly central nodes, thus extending the network lifetime.

Comprehensive capturing of human motions requires both accurate captures of complex poses and precise localization of the human within scenes. Most of the HPE datasets and methods primarily rely on RGB, LiDAR, or IMU data. However, solely using these modalities or a combination of them may not be adequate for HPE, particularly for complex and fast movements. For holistic human motion understanding, we present RELI11D, a high-quality multimodal human motion dataset involves LiDAR, IMU system, RGB camera, and Event camera. It records the motions of 10 actors performing 5 sports in 7 scenes, including 3.32 hours of synchronized LiDAR point clouds, IMU measurement data, RGB videos and Event steams. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate that the RELI 11 D presents considerable challenges and opportunities as it contains many rapid and complex motions that require precise location. To address the challenge of integrating different modalities, we propose LEIR, a multimodal baseline that effectively utilizes LiDAR Point Cloud, Event stream, and RGB through our cross-attention fusion strategy. We show that LEIR exhibits promising results for rapid motions and daily motions and that utilizing the characteristics of multiple modalities can indeed improve HPE performance. Both the dataset and source code release publicly in http://***/reli11d/, fostering collaboration and enabling further exploration in this field.

Translation elongation is essential for cellular proteostasis and is implicated in cancer and neurodegeneration. Accurately predicting the rate of ribosome elongation in each codon (also called ribosomal A site) on mRNA is important for understanding and modulating protein synthesis. However, predicting elongation rates is challenging due to the trade-off between capturing distal codon interactions and focusing on proximal codon effects at the A site. Approaches capturing distal codon interactions in the coding sequences (CDS) of mRNA fail to effectively differentiate critical regions (codons near the A site) due to insufficient effective mechanisms for focusing on these regions. Conversely, due to the limitations of models when handling long mRNA sequences, some methods simplify inputs by conditioning solely on proximal codons surrounding the A site, leading to the loss of important information from distal codons. To address this issue, we leverage Mamba’s success in capturing long-range dependencies to enable the consideration of distant codons’ impact on the A site. Additionally, we introduce a sliding window attention mechanism to emphasize the proximal codons around the A site during ribosome elongation. Building on these advancements, we present Sliding Window Attention Mamba (SWAMamba), a novel framework that simultaneously leverages both proximal and distal codon effects on the A site. We conduct comprehensive evaluations on ribosome data across four species and find that SWAMamba significantly outperformed current state-of-the-art methods in predicting translation elongation rates. © 2025, Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (***). A Four-Pronged Defense Against Byzantine Attacks in Federated Learning

Federated learning (FL) is a nascent distributed learning paradigm to train a shared global model without violating users' privacy. FL has been shown to be vulnerable to various Byzantine attacks, where malicious participants could independently or collusively upload well-crafted updates to deteriorate the performance of the global model. However, existing defenses could only mitigate part of Byzantine attacks, without providing an all-sided shield for FL. It is difficult to simply combine them as they rely on totally contradictory assumptions. In this paper, we propose FPD, a four-pronged defense against both non-colluding and colluding Byzantine attacks. Our main idea is to utilize absolute similarity to filter updates rather than relative similarity used in existingI works. To this end, we first propose a reliable client selection strategy to prevent the majority of threats in the bud. Then we design a simple but effective score-based detection method to mitigate colluding attacks. Third, we construct an enhanced spectral-based outlier detector to accurately discard abnormal updates when the training data is not independent and identically distributed (non-IID). Finally, we design update denoising to rectify the direction of the slightly noisy but harmful updates. The four sequentially combined modules can effectively reconcile the contradiction in addressing non-colluding and colluding Byzantine attacks. Extensive experiments over three benchmark image classification datasets against four state-of-the-art Byzantine attacks demonstrate that FPD drastically outperforms existing defenses in IID and non-IID scenarios (with 30% improvement on model accuracy). © 2023, CC BY.

Nowadays, with advanced information technologies deployed citywide, large data volumes and powerful computational resources are intelligentizing modern city development. As an important part of intelligent transportation, route recommendation and its applications are widely used, directly influencing citizens' travel habits. Developing smart and efficient travel routes based on big data (possibly multi-modal) has become a central challenge in route recommendation research. Our survey offers a comprehensive review of route recommendation work based on urban computing. It is organized by the following three parts: 1) Methodology-wise. We categorize a large volume of classic methods and modern deep learning methods. Also, we discuss their historical relations and reveal the edge-cutting progress. 2) Application-wise. We present numerous novel applications related to route commendation within urban computing scenarios. 3) We discuss current problems and challenges and envision several promising research directions. We believe that this survey can help relevant researchers quickly familiarize themselves with the current state of route recommendation research and then direct them to future research trends. Accurate passenger waiting time prediction addresses the taxi supply-demand imbalance in intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). To capture the dependencies of passenger waiting time on urban taxi distribution, we propose a Density Spatiotemporal Clustering and Time Series Feature Processing (DSC-TSFP) method that discovers potential feature relationships of taxi GPS trajectory data. Specifically, a Multilevel Spatiotemporal Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (MST-DBSCAN) is proposed to cluster taxi GPS trajectory data to obtain waiting time series with spatiotemporal correlations. Furthermore, a time series processing module based on the Complete Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition with Adaptive Noise Normalization (CEEMDANN) is designed to enhance prediction accuracy by handling non-stationarity and numerical discrepancy, which solves the residual white noise problem in Intrinsic Modal Functions (IMFs) of EEMD and CEEMD. Next, a waiting time prediction module oriented to a Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory Network (ConvLSTM) is incorporated to compensate for the defects of spatially localized dependencies that LSTM cannot capture. Finally, a CEEMDANN-ConvLSTM model is constructed to predict the passenger waiting time by combining the time series processing and waiting time prediction module. Based on real-world taxi GPS trajectory data, experimental results demonstrate that DSC-TSFP outperforms comparable methods regarding prediction accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.
