With high spectral resolution, hyperspectral image(HSI) data will result in the Hughes phenomenon, which brings a huge challenge to hyperspectral image classification(HIC). Feature extraction can be applied to address this problem. But several traditional methods often ignore the spatial structure information of HSI data. In this paper, we propose a tensor nuclear norm based matrix regression based projections(TNMRP) for feature extraction of hyperspectral images. Firstly, TNMRP preprocesses the data by a filling method. Then, it automatically builds the graph of block-tensor samples and uses the optimal sparse coding coefficients to obtain the weight matrix. Finally, based on tensor representation, TNMRP calculates the optimal projection matrix. Experiments of classification on Indian Pines and Pavia University databases demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method.

Developing Amharic Sign Language Recognition Model for Amharic Characters Using Deep Learning Approach

Hearing-impaired people use Sign Language to communicate with each other as well as with other communities. Usually, they are unable to communicate with normal people. Most of the people without hearing disability do not understand the Sign Language and unable to understand hearing-impaired people. So, they need recognition of Sign Language to text. In this research, a model is optimized for the recognition of Amharic Sign Language to Amharic characters. A convolutional neural network model is trained on datasets gathered from a teacher of Amharic Sign Language. Frame extraction from Amharic Sign Language video, labeling and annotation, XML creation, generate TFrecord, and training models are major general steps followed for developing models to recognize Amharic Sign Language to characters. After training of the neural network is completed, the model is saved for recognition of Sign Language from a video system or from the frame of video. The accuracy of the model is the summation of confidence of individual alphabets correctly recognized divided by the number of alphabets presented for evaluation for Faster R-CNN and SSD. Hence, the mean average accuracy of the Faster R-CNN and Single-Shot Detector is found to be 98. 25% and 96 % respectively. The model is trained and evaluated for the character of the Amharic language. The research will continue to include the remaining words and sentence used in Amharic Sign Language to have a full-fledged Sign Language recognition model to a complete system. © 2021, CC BY.

Circuit area optimization of multi-output MPRM based on ERWOA algorithm

Mixed polarity Reed-Muller (MPRM) circuit area optimization has become a research hotspot in the field of integrated circuit design. It is a combinatorial optimization, aiming at finding the MPRM expression with the least number of terms among many MPRM expressions. A explosion strategy and restart strategy based whale optimization algorithm (ERWOA) is proposed. In addition, a multi-output MPRM circuit area optimization method is proposed, which uses the improved whale algorithm and the improved polarity conversion algorithm to search for the MPRM circuit with the least number of AND terms. Results on the MCNC Benchmark circuits show that the proposed algorithm increases the conversion efficiency by 99.93% and 99.96% at most, compared with the mixed polarity and inter-polarity conversion algorithms based on the list technology, respectively. Compared with the genetic algorithm and the artificial bee colony algorithm, the improved whale optimization algorithm saves the circuit area up to 18.32% with an average of 5.54%, and 14.41% with an average of 5.00%, respectively. © 2023 Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA). Traffic prediction is of vital importance in intelligent transportation systems. It can realize efficient route planning, avoid traffic congestion and reduce travel time, etc. However, it is difficult to make accurate road traffic prediction, due to the complex spatiotemporal dependencies of the traffic network. The construction and learning of spatial dependencies play a pivotal role in road traffic prediction, laying the foundation for accurate traffic prediction. Regrettably, most of the existing methods for capturing spatial dependencies only consider a single spatial relationship, ignoring other potential temporal and spatial correlations in the traffic network. Moreover, the end-to-end training methods are difficult to control the training direction during graph learning. Additionally, the result of traffic forecasting lacks of fusing multiple traffic data information. All of these have adverse effects on road traffic prediction. In other to capture the spatiotemporal dependencies of the traffic network accurately, a novel traffic prediction framework, Adaptive Spatio-Temporal Graph Neural Network based on Multi-graph Fusion (DTS-adapSTNet), is proposed. First of all, in order to better extract the hidden spatial dependencies, a method of fusing multiple factors is designed, which includs the distance relationship, transfer relationship and same-road segment relationship of traffic data, etc. Secondly, an adaptive learning method is proposed, which can control the learning direction of parameters better by the adaptive matrix generation module and traffic prediction module. Thirdly, an improved loss function is designed for training processes and a multi-matrix fusion module is designed to perform weighted fusion of the learned matrices, updating the spatial adjacency matrix continuously, which fuses as much traffic information as possible for more accurate traffic prediction. In the construction process, wearing safety helmet can effectively reduce the injury caused by falling objects and hard objects. In order to detect the wearing of safety helmet during the construction process, a lightweight safety helmet wearing detection algorithm YOLOv5-CS is proposed and applied to the embedded equipment at the construction site. The algorithm is based on the improvement of YOLOv5 target detection algorithm. The improved CAShuffle module is used to form the backbone feature extraction network, which reduces the size of the original algorithm and ensures the detection accuracy of the algorithm;DIoU as the loss function, which makes the algorithm more conducive to detecting small targets such as hard hats;modify dataset, add the dataset on the basis of the original dataset and mark the safety helmet and the anchor frame of the person separately, and judge whether the worker wears the safety helmet by analyzing positional relationship of the identified anchor frame, use the algorithm combining K-means and genetic algorithm to predict the anchor frame of the dataset, and use Mosaic algorithm to enhance the data. The results show that the parameter quantity of YOLOv5-CS algorithm is 2.4M, less than one third of YOLOv5;The average precision decreased by only 4.2%;640x640 pictures can be recognized at 31 frames per second on Jetson Nano, a embedded platform. © 2022 SPIE.

This document 1 is an extended abstract of a Science of Computer Programming paper, "Candidate Test Set Reduction for Adaptive Random Testing: An Overheads Reduction Technique," presented as a J1C2 (Journal publication first, Conference presentation following) at the 30th IEEE International Conference on software Analysis, Evolution and Reengineering (Saner 2023).The paper presents a candidate set reduction strategy to enhance the Fixed-Sized-Candidate-Set version of Adaptive Random Testing (FSCS-ART). The proposed method reduces the number of randomly-generated candidate test cases by retaining valuable, unused candidates from previous iterations. As the computational costs associated with a stored/retained candidate are less than the costs associated with a randomly-generating one, the overall computational overheads of FSCS-ART are reduced. The reported experimental studies show that the proposed method has a comparable failure-detection effectiveness to FSCS-ART, but less computational overheads.

Graph Convolution Networks (GCNs), with their efficient ability to capture high-order connectivity in graphs, have been widely applied in recommender systems. Stacking multiple neighbor aggregation is the major operation in GCNs. It implicitly captures popularity features because the number of neighbor nodes reflects the popularity of a node. However, existing GCN-based methods ignore a universal problem: users’ sensitivity to item popularity is differentiated, but the neighbor aggregations in GCNs actually fix this sensitivity through Graph Laplacian Normalization, leading to suboptimal personalization. In this work, we propose to model multi-grained popularity features and jointly learn them together with high-order connectivity, to match the differentiation of user preferences exhibited in popularity features. Specifically, we develop a Joint Multi-grained Popularity-aware Graph Convolution Collaborative Filtering model, short for JMP-GCF, which uses a popularity-aware embedding generation to construct multi-grained popularity features, and uses the idea of joint learning to capture the signals within and between different granularities of popularity features that are relevant for modeling user preferences. Additionally, we propose a multistage stacked training strategy to speed up model convergence. In this paper, we conduct a comparative analysis of sleep stage classification for patients having different levels of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). For the analysis, we use 10 bio-signal channels: 4 EEG (Electroencephalogram) channels (F3-M2, F4-M1, C3-M2, and C4-M1), 2 EOG (Electrooculogram) channels (E1-M2 and E2-M1), and 4 other bio-channels (EMG, ECG, Flow, and Abdomen). In this work, in particular, we consider OSA severity for training and testing. Then, we investigated the detailed impacts of the OSA severity on the accuracy performance of a modern deep learning model with single channel and multiple channels. © 2022 IEEE.

Semantic segmentation of remote sensing images (RSIs) is a challenging task due to the complexity of spatial structures, diverse object scales, and heterogeneous land-cover patterns. Traditional approaches often struggle to effectively balance fine-grained boundary details and global contextual understanding, especially for high-resolution images. In this paper, we propose DDFNet, a novel dual-domain decoupled fusion network, to address these challenges. DDFNet integrates spatial and frequency domain features through a dynamic decoupling and fusion strategy. Specifically, we introduce a Dual-Domain Decoupled Feature Fusion (DDFF) module that selectively combines high- and low-frequency components from both domains, enabling the model to capture local textures and global semantics. To further enhance segmentation accuracy, we design a High-Order Geometric Prior Generation (HGPG) module, which utilizes gradient and curvature information to improve boundary precision and maintain geometric consistency. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets — ISPRS Vaihingen, ISPRS Potsdam, and LoveDA — demonstrate that DDFNet achieves state-of-the-art performance. Ablation studies validate the contributions of the DDFF and HGPG modules, and efficiency analysis shows DDFNet's strong adaptability to different computational constraints. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.
