This paper aims to automatically diagnose thoracic diseases in Chest X-ray (CXR) images using deep neural net-works (DNN). However, the existing approaches generally use the global CXR images as input for training purposes. This strategy is low-efficiency, coarse, and might introduce many unnecessary noises. We believe that the deep learning, which is inherently an algebraic computation system, is not the most efficient way to acquire highly sophisticated human knowledge, for example those thoracic diseases are typically limited within the lung regions and interdependence between lesion location. In this paper, we address the above problem by proposing to explore how external medical knowledge can be injected into DNN to guide its training process. We design four feature extraction modules to construct a knowledge-guided deep zoom neural network (KGZNet), which can gradually make full use of the most medical discriminative feature information (from coarse to fine) of global, lung regions, and lesion regions. Specifically, we first learn global branch using global images. Second, learn the lung region branch using lung region images, which are identified and cropped by the Lung Region Generator (LRG-1). Then, guided by the attention heat map generated from the lung region branch learning, we inference a mask to crop a medical discriminative lesion region from the lung region images by the Lesion Region Generator (LRG-2). The lesion region images are used for training a lesion branch. Lastly, the obtained medical discriminative features knowledge are fused by the feature fusion model for disease classification. We have evaluated the proposed method on the NIH ChestX-ray 14 dataset and achieves the average AUC of 0.878, and the experiment results demonstrate the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed method, compared to other state-of-the-art methods.

MetAug: Contrastive Learning via Meta Feature Augmentation

What matters for contrastive learning? We argue that contrastive learning heavily relies on informative features, or "hard" (positive or negative) features. Early works include more informative features by applying complex data augmentations and large batch size or memory bank, and recent works design elaborate sampling approaches to explore informative features. The key challenge toward exploring such features is that the source multi-view data is generated by applying random data augmentations, making it infeasible to always add useful information in the augmented data. Consequently, the informativeness of features learned from such augmented data is limited. In response, we propose to directly augment the features in latent space, thereby learning discriminative representations without a large amount of input data. We perform a meta learning technique to build the augmentation generator that updates its network parameters by considering the performance of the encoder. However, insufficient input data may lead the encoder to learn collapsed features and therefore malfunction the augmentation generator. A new margin-injected regularization is further added in the objective function to avoid the encoder learning a degenerate mapping. To contrast all features in one gradient back-propagation step, we adopt the proposed optimization-driven unified contrastive loss instead of the conventional contrastive loss. SDG-CDA: Stackelberg Differential Games and Combinatorial Double Auctions based Pricing Mechanism in Cloud-Edge Environment

In this paper, we propose an innovative pricing mechanism for cloud-edge collaborative computing resources that combines Stackelberg differential games with combinatorial double auction. The scenario of trading heterogeneous computing resources between cloud data centers, edge servers and users is modeled as a two-stage game. The Stackelberg game equilibrium is solved by Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation to optimize the resource allocation and pricing between data centers and edge servers. Markov game with multi-agent reinforcement learning is used to ensure the optimal bidding strategy of users, while differential privacy mechanism is introduced to protect participants’ sensitive information. Experimental results show that the edge server utility is improved by at least 50% and the user utility by 30% compared to the baseline algorithm. The mechanism accelerates the convergence of the game process while protecting the privacy of auction participants, providing a novel and efficient solution to the resource allocation challenge in dynamic computing environments. © 2014 IEEE.

A zero-shot based fingerprint presentation attack detection system

With the development of presentation attacks, Automated Fingerprint Recognition Systems(AFRSs) are vulnerable to presentation attack. Thus, numerous methods of presentation attack detection(PAD) have been proposed to ensure the normal utilization of AFRS. However, the demand of large-scale presentation attack images and the low-level generalization ability always astrict existing PAD methods' actual performances. Therefore, we propose a novel Zero-Shot Presentation Attack Detection Model to guarantee the generalization of the PAD model. The proposed ZSPAD-Model based on generative model does not utilize any negative samples in the process of establishment, which ensures the robustness for various types or materials based presentation attack. Different from other auto-encoder based model, the Fine-grained Map architecture is proposed to refine the reconstruction error of the auto-encoder networks and a task-specific gaussian model is utilized to improve the quality of clustering. Meanwhile, in order to improve the performance of the proposed model, 9 confidence scores are discussed in this article. Experimental results showed that the ZSPAD-Model is the state of the art for ZSPAD, and the MS-Score is the best confidence score. Compared with existing methods, the proposed ZSPAD-Model performs better than the feature-based method and under the multi-shot setting, the proposed method overperforms the learning based method with little training data. Interventional Contrastive Learning with Meta Semantic Regularizer

Contrastive learning (CL)-based self-supervised learning models learn visual representations in a pairwise manner. Although the prevailing CL model has achieved great progress, in this paper, we uncover an ever-overlooked phenomenon: When the CL model is trained with full images, the performance tested in full images is better than that in foreground areas;when the CL model is trained with foreground areas, the performance tested in full images is worse than that in foreground areas. This observation reveals that backgrounds in images may interfere with the model learning semantic information and their influence has not been fully eliminated. To tackle this issue, we build a Structural Causal Model (SCM) to model the background as a confounder. We propose a backdoor adjustment-based regularization method, namely Interventional Contrastive Learning with Meta Semantic Regularizer (ICL-MSR), to perform causal intervention towards the proposed SCM. ICL-MSR can be incorporated into any existing CL methods to alleviate background distractions from representation learning. Theoretically, we prove that ICL-MSR achieves a tighter error bound. Empirically, our experiments on multiple benchmark datasets demonstrate that ICL-MSR is able to improve the performances of different state-of-the-art CL methods. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. Hyperspectral Image Classification (HSC) presents significant challenges owing to the high dimensionality and intricate nature of Hyperspectral (HS) data. While traditional Machine Learning (TML) approaches have demonstrated effectiveness, they often encounter substantial obstacles in real-world applications, including the variability of optimal feature sets, subjectivity in human-driven design, inherent biases, and methodological limitations. Specifically, TML suffers from the curse of dimensionality, difficulties in feature selection and extraction, insufficient consideration of spatial information, limited robustness against noise, scalability issues, and inadequate adaptability to complex data distributions. In recent years, Deep Learning (DL) techniques have emerged as robust solutions to address these challenges. This survey offers a comprehensive overview of current trends and future prospects in HSC, emphasizing advancements from DL models to the increasing adoption of Transformer and Mamba Model architectures. We systematically review key concepts, methodologies, and state-of-the-art approaches in DL for HSC. Furthermore, we investigate the potential of Transformer-based models and the Mamba Model in HSC, detailing their advantages and challenges. Emerging trends in HSC are explored, including in-depth discussions on Explainable AI and Interoperability concepts, alongside Diffusion Models for image denoising, feature extraction, and image fusion. To substantiate the efficacy of various conventional DL models, Transformers, and the Mamba Model, comprehensive experimental results were conducted on three HS datasets, yielding notable accuracies: 99.94% on Pavia University, 99.41% on Indian Pines, and 99.97% on the University of Houston dataset. Additionally, we identify several open challenges and pertinent research questions in the field of HSC. Hybrid attention network based on progressive embedding scale-context for crowd counting

The existing crowd counting methods usually adopted attention mechanism to tackle background noise, or applied multi-level features or multi-scales context fusion to tackle scale variation. However, these ap- proaches deal with these two problems separately. In this paper, we propose an Hybrid Attention Network (HAN) by employing Progressive Embedding Scale-context (PES) information, which enables the network to simultaneously suppress noise and adapt head scale variation. We build the hybrid attention mechanism through paralleling spatial attention and channel attention module, which makes the network to focus more on the human head area and reduce the interference of background objects. Besides, we embed certain scale-context to the hybrid attention along the spatial and channel dimensions for alleviating these count- ing errors caused by the variation of perspective and head scale. Finally, we propose a progressive learning strategy through cascading multiple hybrid attention modules with embedding diαerent scale-context, which can gradually integrate diαerent scale-context information into the current feature map from global to local. Ablation experiments provides that the network architecture can gradually learn multi-scale features and suppress background noise. The DUDFTO Attack: Towards Down-to-UP Timeout Probing and Dynamically Flow Table Overflowing in SDN

As a new network structure, the decoupling of the control plane and forwarding plane makes software-Defined Networking (SDN) widely used in large-scale network scenarios. However, the decoupling network architecture also brings new vulnerabilities. The flow table overflow attack is an attack strategy that can overwhelm SDN switches. Nevertheless, the existing flow table overflow attacks may fail in probing timeouts and match fields of flow entries, due to link failure, measurement of the round-trip time (RTT) of different packets, interference of hard-timeout and idle-timeout. Meanwhile, the stealthiness of the existing attacks may also reduce, as these attacks use fixed attack rate. To improve the timeout probing accuracy and the stealthiness of attack, a new flow table overflow attack strategy, DUDFTO, is proposed to accurately probe timeout settings and match fields, then stealthily overflow SDN flow tables. Firstly, it probes the match fields by measuring the one-sided transmission delay of the packets. After that, DUDFTO designs a down-to-up feedback-based timeout probing algorithm to eliminate the issues caused by high RTT, link failure, interference between hard-timeout and idle-timeout. Then, DUDFTO designs a dynamic attack packets sending algorithm to improve its stealthiness. Finally, DUDFTO probes the flow table state to stop sending new attack packets. The evaluation results demonstrate that DUDFTO outperforms the existing attacks in terms of match fields probing ability, timeout probing relative error, number of packet_in and flow_mod messages generated by the attack, rate distribution of packet_in and flow_mod messages generated during the attack, and number of detected attack packets. © 2004-2012 IEEE.
