Pressure monitoring in extreme conditions, such as in industrial, aerospace, and radioactive atmosphere, is crucial. Our focus is on developing and researching piezoelectric sensors that are highly flexible for detecting gas pressures at extremely high temperatures. We develop the flexible device using epitaxial III -nitride film, which is single-crystalline, by layer-transfer method. The sensor shows a sensitive and stable operation for extended periods. We use software simulation and relevant formulas to support our experimental findings.

Cutting corners to suppress high-order modes in Mie resonator arrays

Mie resonators as lattice resonant metasurfaces have the capability to produce structural colour. However, design criteria for these metasurfaces are still being investigated. In this work, we numerically examine how the two-dimensional nanostructure shape in a lattice array affects the colorimetric response of the metasurface under linearly polarised light excitation. First, the transformation from a square-shaped to rectangle-shaped nanostructure array resulted in polarisation-sensitive metasurfaces with colorimetric outputs bound along a line on the CIE 1931 2-degree Standard Observer colour space. The bounds of the colorimetry line were tuneable to any desired chromatic range. Second, the removal of the corners in square- or rectangle-shaped nanostructures to create t-shaped nanostructure arrays displayed a dampening effect on the high-order resonance. Finally, we analytically determined that the colour saturation could increase when moving from rectangle-shaped to t-shaped nanostructure arrays. From these results, we present two design guidelines for lattice resonant metasurfaces: (1) Constructing the nanostructure to support fundamental resonances at different wavelengths enables two-colour-bound movement when excited by successive angles of linearly polarised light;(2) Removing portions of the nanostructure that only support high-order resonances dampens these modes while maintaining support for fundamental resonances. These results present first-principles guidelines for engineering nanoparticles in lattice resonant metasurfaces, offering a new toolbox for polarised-light sensing and colorimetric applications. Nuanced dialects are a linguistic variant that pose several challenges for NLP models and techniques. One of the main challenges is the limited amount of datasets to enable extensive research and experimentation. We propose an approach for efficiently collecting nuanced dialectal datasets that are not only of high quality, but are versatile enough to be multipurpose as well. To test our approach we collect the KIND corpus, which is a collection of fine-grained Arabic dialect data. The data is short texts, and unlike many nuanced dialectal datasets, it is curated manually through social collaboration efforts as opposed to being crawled from social media. The collaborative approach is incentivized through educational gamification and competitions for which the community itself benefits from the open source dataset. Our approach aims to achieve: (1) coverage of dialects from under-represented groups and fine-grained dialectal varieties, (2) provide aligned parallel corpora for translation between Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and multiple dialects to enable translation and comparison studies, (3) promote innovative approaches for nuanced dialect data collection. We explain the steps for the competition as well as the resulting datasets and the competing data collection systems. The KIND dataset is shared with the research community. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The implementation of Gated Recurrent Neural Networks (GRU) to generate background music (BGM) combines deep learning technology with music that is used for the visual content of a commercial or educational. Indeed, this BGM is necessary to enhance the intended message expressed to the other audience. This work aimed to provide the model network of GRU which is based on RNN to generate multi-label genres of music by using the open source of GTZAN to evaluate the new BGM. Our GRU networks can solve the vanishing gradient problem by utilizing both the reset gate and the update gate on the network. In the results, we achieved a new BGM that synchronized with the human mood which made more variety of sounds.

This paper presents an offline path planning strategy for unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) using Q-learning. The proposed method addresses path optimization in warehouse-like environments, where tasks involve item pickup and delivery to specific locations. The Q-learning algorithm trains an agent to determine the most efficient routes, with validation conducted in an $8 \times 5$ meter workspace equipped with an Optitrack motion capture system. The workspace was discretized into a $16 \times 10$ grid, allowing the Q-learning to effectively navigate through complex obstacle-laden scenarios. Experimental results indicate that the Q-learning approach outperforms traditional methods such as Dijkstra, A-star, and Breadth-First Search in terms of path length, number of turns, planning time, and overall success rate; being up to 7 times faster to plan a path and reducing the number of bends by up to 41%. The Q-learning based paths feature more linear segments, which contribute to energy savings and improved navigational efficiency. Future work will explore applications in heterogeneous multi-agent systems and enhancements in training time and agent collaboration.

Many economically essential crops in Indonesia (such as coffee, tea, chocolate, or copra) require storage or drying under certain environmental conditions, especially temperature and humidity. The solar dryer dome, typically used for agricultural purposes in Indonesia, produces a sufficient amount of heat to increase the evaporation rate inside the dome and reduce the moisture content of the commodity. A hybrid solar dryer accompanied by a photovoltaic panel, fan, and ventilation system is generally suitable. The system can provide an optimum environment with minimum control. However, as the outdoor temperature and humidity change dramatically, such as at night time, more control is required. Based on Industry 4.0 technologies, we have developed a new kind of hybrid solar dryer that provides an optimum environment 24/7. The system, called Smart Dome 4.0, is an intelligent, low-cost, self-sufficient drying and storage system to support Indonesia Agriculture 4.0. The system has a local power generation unit to self-sustain the required energy and operate without connecting to the electricity grid. The system utilizes a machine-learning algorithm to predict the environmental condition and optimally uses self-generated electric power. The developed Smart Dome 4.0 technology is critical to producing a sustainable solar dome under drastic environmental dynamics. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Structured illumination microscopy (SIM) uses a set of images captured with different illumination patterns to computationally reconstruct resolution beyond the diffraction limit. Here, we propose an alternative approach using a single speckle illumination pattern and relying on inherent sample motion to encode the super-resolved information in multiple raw images. From a set of raw fluorescence images captured as the sample moves, we jointly estimate both the sample motion and the super-resolved image. We demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method both in simulation and in experiment.

Perovskite oxides have attracted great attention as favorable electrode materials for supercapacitors due to their sole structure, intrinsic oxygen vacancy and compositional flexibility. However, a facile synthetic route which is simple and economical is a challenging issue related to the synthesis of such complex functional oxides. We present a facile and ultrafast way to synthesize LaBO3 (B = Cr, Mn, Fe and Co) perovskite nanocrystallites using glycine-nitrate autocombustion followed by annealing. The structure, phase purity, thermal stability, morphology and surface features of thus synthesized perovskite oxides were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Field emission scanning electron microscopy, High resolution transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Brunauer-Emmet-Teller measurements. The role of B – site cation on the electrochemical performance has been investigated by cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge discharge measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Electrochemical measurements showed that, among the synthesized materials, LaBO3 nanoparticles with smallest transition metal cation at its B – site, that is LaCoO3 delivered highest value of specific capacitance (750 F/g) and the value of specific capacitance decreases in the order LaCoO3 ˃ LaMnO3 ˃ LaCrO3 ˃ LaFeO3. Therefore, B – site transition metal cation holds the key to regulate perovskite's properties which are essential prerequisites for supercapacitors. An asymmetric device fabricated using LaCoO3 and activated carbon as the positive and negative electrode respectively acted in broad potential window (1.7 V) and delivered an energy density of 22.2 Wh/kg at a power density of 997.7 W/kg and two supercapacitors connected in series could power a red light emitting diode efficiently. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd
