Navigating the complex legal and regulatory landscape requires a sophisticated platform that is not only comprehensive but also user-friendly and enables seamless analysis and document comparison in the legal realm. To address this challenging requirement, this research is dedicated to the user experience (UX) design of state-of the-art cloud-native mobile applications specifically designed for legal and regulatory harmonization. The methodology used is based on design thinking principles and takes advantage of the benefits of cloud computing. These include, but are not limited to, scalability, reliability, and security. The result is a solution that is not only powerful but also cost-effective. The core of this application follows a user-centered design philosophy and involves potential users closely in the design process. A comprehensive evaluation is performed using the System Usability Scale (SUS) methodology to measure the effectiveness and usability of the application. The results of this comprehensive approach are convincing. The application has an impressive 95.5% usage rate, indicating strong user engagement. Furthermore, user satisfaction ratings are particularly high and transformative impact of this application in a complex environment of legal harmonization. Through its innovative design, seamless functionality, and user-centric approach, this application has proven to be not only a technical solution, but also a catalyst for positive change in the legal and regulatory harmonization process.

Breast cancer is a malignant tumor with a high mortality rate among women. Therefore, it is necessary to develop novel therapies to effectively treat this disease. In this study, iron selenide nanorods (FeSe2 NRs) were designed for use in magnetic hyperthermic, photothermal, and chemodynamic therapy (MHT/PTT/CDT) for breast cancer. To illustrate their efficacy, FeSe2 NRs were modified with the chemotherapeutic agent methotrexate (MTX). MTX-modified FeSe2 (FeSe2-MTX) exhibited excellent controlled drug release properties. Fe2+ released from FeSe2 NRs induced the release of •OH from H2O2 via a Fenton/Fenton-like reaction, enhancing the efficacy of CDT. Under alternating magnetic field (AMF) stimulation and 808 nm laser irradiation, FeSe2-MTX exerted potent hyperthermic and photothermal effects by suppressing tumor growth in a breast cancer nude mouse model. In addition, FeSe2 NRs can be used for magnetic resonance imaging in vivo by incorporating their superparamagnetic characteristics into a single nanomaterial. Overall, we presented a novel technique for the precise delivery of functional nanosystems to tumors that can enhance the efficacy of breast cancer treatment. © 2024 The Authors. State-of-the-art intracortical neuroprostheses currently enable communication at 60+ words per minute for anarthric individuals by training on over 10K sentences to account for phoneme variability in different word contexts. There is limited understanding about whether this performance can be maintained in decoding naturalistic speech with 40K+ word vocabularies across elicited, spontaneous, and conversational speech contexts. We introduce a vocal-unit-level generalization test to explicitly evaluate neural decoder performance with an expanded and more diverse behavioral repertoire. Tested on neural decoders modeling zebra finch vocalization, an analog to human vocal production, we compare three decoders with different input types: spike trains, neural factors, and firing rates. The factors and rates are latent neural features inferred using trained Latent Factor Analysis via Dynamical Systems (LFADS) models that capture the population neural dynamics during vocal production. While the conventional random holdout generalization error measure is similar for all three decoders, factor- and rate-based decoders outperform spike-based decoders when testing vocal-unit-holdout generalization error. These results suggest the later models better adapt to flexible vocalization inference when trained with partial observation of data variation, motivating further exploration of decoders incorporating latent neural and vocalization dynamics. © 2024 IEEE.

Optical spectroscopy of excitons in ReS2 monolayers grown by chemical vapor deposition

Monolayers of ReS2 were grown by a chemical vapor deposition technique on SiO2/Si substrates and investigated at room temperature by using μ-Raman, μ-photoluminescence (PL) and absorbance spectroscopies. The Raman scattering spectrum exhibits several phonon modes that were confirmed by the computation analysis based on the density functional theory. The ReS2 structural integrity was confirmed by using the XRD and the energy dispersion spectroscopy that was obtained by the scanning electron microscopy. Photoluminescence spectra show excitons related to interband transition in thin monolayer flakes and bulk-like structures. Additionally, a sharp PL line located at 1.2620 eV with a second harmonic peak at 2.5420 eV were observed and explained in terms of interband excitonic transitions originated within the rhenium 5d orbit. An optical absorbance spectrum with an exciton peak around 1.4660 eV was obtained for an assembly of ReS2 flakes grown on silica substrate. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we propose a new optimization-based method for high-order mesh generation. Our proposed method is based on affine combinations of nodal positions. For each interior node in the high-order straight-sided mesh, a set of weights that relates the node to its neighbors is calculated. After the high-order boundary nodes are curved to conform with the true boundary, the interior nodes are moved based on the generated weights and the new boundary positions. We present results from applying our method to several aerospace engineering geometries in 2D and 3D which demonstrate the capabilities of our method. © 2020, The Author(s).

Opinion has always affected businesses and individuals especially from the Public. People react through social media and spread it incompletely. The situation was then accepted as public opinion. There are three categories of opinion i.e., positive, negative, and neutral. To investigate public opinion on a particular issue of interest, sentiment analysis might be employed. By offering a solution to the text classification challenge, this experiment focuses on the perception of airline tweets among the American public. We offer a method to classify tweets as positive, negative, or neutral using three machine learning classifiers: Random Forest Classifier, Naive Bayes Classifier, and K-Nearest Neighbors Classifier. We examined the performance of three machine learning classifiers in terms of accuracy, average precision, average recall, and average f-1 score. The results demonstrate that the Random Forest Classifier, which produces 82% accuracy, 80% average precision, 82% average recall, and 80% average f1-score, performs the best among the machine learning classifiers.

This paper makes four scientific contributions to the area of misinformation detection and analysis on digital platforms, with a specific focus on investigating how conspiracy theories, fake remedies, and false reports emerge, propagate, and shape public perceptions in the context of COVID-19. A dataset of 5,614 posts on the internet that contained misinformation about COVID-19 was used for this study. These posts were published in 2020 on 427 online sources (such as social media platforms, news channels, and online blogs) from 193 countries and in 49 languages. First, this paper presents a structured, three-tier analytical framework that investigates how multiple motives - including fear, politics, and profit - can lead to a misleading claim. Second, it emphasizes the importance of narrative structures, systematically identifying and quantifying the thematic elements that drive conspiracy theories, fake remedies, and false reports. Third, it presents a comprehensive analysis of different sources of misinformation, highlighting the varied roles played by individuals, state-based organizations, media outlets, and other sources. Finally, it discusses multiple potential implications of these findings for public policy and health communication, illustrating how insights gained from motive, narrative, and source analyses can guide more targeted interventions in the context of misinformation detection on digital platforms. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Multiphoton fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) is used to collect label-free metabolic information from biological samples via autofluorescence lifetime imaging of reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NAD(P)H). However, FLIM has traditionally been limited by slow acquisition due to the limited bandwidth of analog electronics that perform photon counting and time-tagging. This slow acquisition has restricted the applicability of multiphoton FLIM of NAD(P)H by impeding the ability to accurately study biological problems that require characterization of fast dynamics. Faster image acquisition can be achieved by directly digitizing the amplified output of a hybrid photodetector and computationally determining photon counts via the Single- and multiphoton PEak Event Detection (SPEED) algorithm. This method, bypassing the limited-bandwidth analog electronics used for photon counting and time-tagging of photons in traditional FLIM, enables fast photon counting capabilities which are well suited for fast, high-dynamic range biological processes such as metabolic changes during apoptosis. Here, we utilize this technology to examine fast dynamics of apoptosis in 2D culture of normal and cancerous human breast cell lines, rat mammary tumor tissue-derived organoids, and in vivo rat mammary tumors. Results indicate that apoptosis-related metabolic dynamics are biological model-dependent and based on local pharmacokinetics, with tumor derived organoids in Matrigel showing a significantly slower response than in vivo or in vitro 2D cell models. Future work should carefully consider these implications when determining which tumor model to use for experimentation and should improve tumor models to better represent in vivo tumor apoptosis dynamics. © 2023 SPIE.

The spread of Corona Virus Disease 19 (COVID-19) in Indonesia is still relatively high and has not shown a significant decrease. One of the main reasons is due to the lack of supervision on the implementation of health protocols such as wearing masks in daily activities. Recently, state-of-the-art algorithms were introduced to automate face mask detection. To be more specific, the researchers developed various kinds of architectures for the detection of masks based on computer vision methods. This paper aims to evaluate well-known architectures, namely the ResNet50, VGG11, InceptionV3, EfficientNetB4, and YOLO (You Only Look Once) to recommend the best approach in this specific field. By using the MaskedFace-Net dataset, the experimental results showed that the EfficientNetB4 architecture has better accuracy at 95.77% compared to the YOLOv4 architecture of 93.40%, InceptionV3 of 87.30%, YOLOv3 of 86.35%, ResNet50 of 84.41%, VGG11 of 84.38%, and YOLOv2 of 78.75%, respectively. It should be noted that particularly for YOLO, the model was trained using a collection of MaskedFace-Net images that had been pre-processed and labelled for the task. The model was initially able to train faster with pre-trained weights from the COCO dataset thanks to transfer learning, resulting in a robust set of features expected for face mask detection and classification.
