An accurate predictive model of temperature and humidity plays a vital role in many industrial processes that utilize a closed space such as in agriculture and building management. With the exceptional performance of deep learning on time-series data, developing a predictive temperature and humidity model with deep learning is propitious. In this study, we demonstrated that deep learning models with multivariate time-series data produce remarkable performance for temperature and relative humidity prediction in a closed space. In detail, all deep learning models that we developed in this study achieve almost perfect performance with an R value over 0.99.

Despite their drawbacks, multiple-choice questions (MCQ) have been widely used to assess the students' understanding of lectures through examinations. The development of automatic MCQ generation is beneficial, especially for educators. As a starting point for further development, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is conducted to uncover current trends, future challenges, and opportunities in automatic MCQ generation. Previously, an SLR was conducted, but it lacks coverage of the utilization of transformer-based models. This SLR covers the development of automatic MCQ generation using either traditional or advanced approaches such as Transformers. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses framework was used to gather the data from Scopus, IEEE Xplore, SpringerLink, arXiv, and Semantic Scholar. The included articles must be open-access computer science conference papers or journal articles and written in English less than five years ago. Four independent reviewers analyzed the research workflow, evaluation metric, and dataset used in each study. There are 18 included studies, where 17% (n = 3) studies are from 2024, 33% (n = 6) studies are from 2023, 22% (n = 4) studies are from 2022, 11% (n = 2) studies are from 2021, and 17% (n = 3) studies are from 2020. There are 33% (n = 6) of the studies used the traditional feature-based engineering approach, 39% (n = 7) of the studies used the Transformer-based model fine-tuning approach, and the remaining used novel approaches. The study found that BERT variants are the most utilized Transformer-based model in automatic MCQ. The research notes some challenges, but also open various opportunities for further research, including Large Language Model (LLM) utilization for automatic MCQ generation, the utilization BERT-based models for standardized machine-learned evaluation metrics, and the initiative for the creation of an MCQ dataset benchmark.

Gastrointestinal diseases are significant health concerns that mostly affect the digestive and biliary tracts. These can only be observed internally through endoscopy, or a modern approach named Wireless Capsule Endoscopy. Though the approach has proven to work, the process relies heavily on medical experts, which is prone to error when given a considerably large load. The use of deep learning in detecting diseases with images has been proven to work in various cases and can be implemented for gastrointestinal diseases. This study compared four deep learning models based on Convolutional Neural Network architectures consisting of the VGG16, ResNet152V2, InceptionV3, and Xception for classifying colon disease images. The experiment showed that the ResNet152V2 performed the best, compared to the other three with a testing accuracy score of 0.9837. On the other hand, the VGG16 had the lowest performance with around accuracy score of 0.89 while the Xception and InceptionV3models yielded similar accuracy scores of 0.9587 and 0.9549, respectively. The results highlight the effectiveness of ResNet152V2 in handling the complexity of colon disease detection

Wind power has been experiencing a quick improvement. Without a doubt, wind is a variable asset that is hard to forecast. For instance, traditionally time series, extra holds are distributed to deal with this uncertainty. This paper presents a comparison of the performance of various Support Vector Regression (SVR) applied to short-term wind power forecasting. The analogy with BORUTA and multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) as judge best input and employ genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization to find best parameter in Support Vector Regression with robust lost function. We measure the accuracy of this models by Symmetric means absolute percentage error (sMAPE) and we get the best model BORUTA-SVR-PSO with sMAPE 2.07155%. Moreover, we measure the energy conversion using Feedback Linearization Control (FLC). © International Association of Engineers.

With the growing demands for Precision Agriculture (PA) in Indonesia, researchers have evaluated the utilization of Machine Learning for predicting oil palm yields and determining variables affecting them. Previous studies showed that meteorological variables, including rainfalls and wind speed, are associated with oil palm yields. In this research, the Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) model and the Shapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) were deployed for analyzing the importance of 15 agrometeorological variables in predicting oil palm yield. The best model attained 1.911 RMSE and 0.855 R2. By analyzing the weights and gains of the XGBoost model along with the SHAP values, it was found that the yield in the previous year, the age and number of plants, the area of peat lands, and meteorological parameters such as rainfall rates and the number of rainy days in the previous three years were considered important. The previous year's yield in particular possesses the greatest weight and gain values according to the model, and the highest SHAP value among all input variables. However, the meteorological data used in this research are only limited to rainfall rates and the number of rainy days. In the future, more diverse variables can be analyzed.

To profiling flavonoids in wild soybean (WB;Glycine soja Sieb & Zucc.) and cultivated soybean (CB;Glycine max (L.) Merr.), liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS), antioxidant assays, and chemometrics method were used. Total 70 flavonoids were tentatively identified with ion filter strategies containing precursor ion list, mass defect filter, nitrogen rule filter, and diagnostic ion filter from 20,999 features in WB and CB. Semi-quantification result revealed that WB has 1.4-, 93.1-, 6.3-, and 1.9-fold higher contents in isoflavone, flavan, procyanidin, and flavone than that of CB. In antioxidant assays, WB showed 1.89- to 5.83-fold higher antioxidant capacities than CB in four antioxidant capacity assays. In orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis, WB and CB were clearly classified, and 31 characteristic flavonoids were identified by variable importance in projection. Furthermore, epicatechin and procyanidins of WB showed significantly positive correlation with antioxidant capacities by Pearson's correlation. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Monthly rainfall analysis and forecasts are made to be able to provide a clear picture of the rain and climate conditions that have occurred and will occur in the territory of Indonesia. The information can be known in an area that has the most substantial maximum rainfall and in an area which has the lowest rainfall described and presented spatial pattern by using the ArcView-GIS. The purpose of making monthly rainfall forecasts is to be used and utilized by users, especially in the agriculture and irrigation sectors to plan and make decisions within the next 1 to 3 months related to climatic conditions, especially rainfall. In this paper, we use annual rainfall data in six location East Java. We analysis ENSO phenomena as well as rainfall forecasting in January - March 2018 by using generalized space-time autoregressive and get an accuracy MAPE out samp;e amount 2.95% dan RMSE out sample amount 4.77. © 2018 IEEE.

The GDNQ motif is mainly found in nonsegmented (-)ssRNA viruses and plays a role in the catalytic and polymerase activity pathways. However, in some recently reported dsRNA mycoviruses, the GDNQ motif of the (-)ssRNA virus group is found instead of the GDD motif commonly found in the dsRNA virus group. Therefore, in this study, data mining techniques were used to explore the mutation tendency of a specific region in the virus taxonomic groups. Viral protein sequences were obtained from the NCBI Virus data repository, and the performance of several known string-searching algorithms (BF, KMP, and BM) was evaluated to establish an optimal strategy for extracting useful information from sequence big data. Then, the pattern-matching performance of the algorithm was tested to detect whether the conserved region sequence was a common motif type or a mutated motif type. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the BF method produced the fastest results. However, the BM method recorded higher accuracy. Through the virus mutation tendency derived from the analysis results, it was confirmed that 7.1% of dsRNA viruses had a mutated motif type based on the total data analyzed and that it was relatively recent that ssRNA virus motif variants began to be discovered in dsRNA viruses. It is expected that additional in-depth analysis of the host range and infection route of viruses with the mutation will help understand the evolution of dsRNA and ssRNA mycoviruses.

Reconstruction of biological and biochemical networks is a crucial step in extracting knowledge and causal information from large biological data sets. This task is particularly challenging when dealing with time-series data from dynamic networks. We have developed a new method, called doubly penalized least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (DPLASSO), for the reconstruction of dynamic biological networks. Our method consists of two components: statistical significance testing of model coefficients and penalized/constrained optimization. A partial least squares (PLS) with statistical significance testing acts as a supervisory-level filter to extract the most informative components of the network from a data set. Then, LASSO with extra weights on the smaller parameters identified in the first layer is employed to retain the main predictors and to set the smallest coefficients to zero. We present two case studies to compare the relative performance of DPLASSO and LASSO in terms of several metrics, such as sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy. The first case study employs a synthetic data set;it demonstrates that DPLASSO substantially improves network reconstruction in terms of accuracy and specificity. The second case study relies on simulated data sets for cell division cycle of fission yeast and shows that DPLASSO overall outperforms LASSO and PLS in terms of sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy. Combining PLS with statistical significance testing and LASSO provides good performance with respect to several metrics. DPLASSO is well suited for reconstruction of networks with low and moderate density. For high-density networks, high specificity is desired, making PLS a more suitable approach. © 1963-2012 IEEE.
