Plant growth with complex organic matter content can be enhanced by using oil palm by-products. These organic materials can maintain the water supply in the plant body. Therefore, in oil palm plantations with significant groundwater consumption, organic matter’s the ability to sustain water availability. Caterpillars that devour palm leaves are among the numerous pests that threaten oil palm plantations. Predators of leaf-eating caterpillars use the holly rose flower (Turnera subulata) in oil palm farms as a habitat. Therefore, the effect of the type and dose treatment of oil palm by-products on the growth of Turnera subulata was observed to support sustainable water management in oil palm plantations. The research was carried out using a factorial design arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two components: the type of palm oil mill by-product (boiler ash, empty bunches, and solid) and the dose of a by-product (% volume) consisting of four dosages (0, 25, 33, and 50% volume). The research data were analyzed using variance at the 5% test level. A DMRT test at the 5% test level was conducted on the treatment that had a significant effect. The growth of Turnera subulata was most positively impacted by a solid application dose of 50% volume. Turnera subulata plants responded the least favorably to the application of empty bunches in any dose treatment.
While numerous methods have been proposed for computing distances between probability distributions in Euclidean space, relatively little attention has been given to computing such distances for distributions on graph...

Polygenic scores (PGSs) are genetic predictions of trait values or disease risk that are increasingly finding applications in clinical predictive models and basic genetics research. However, the predictive value of a PGS can vary within similar population groups, depending on characteristics such as the environmental exposures, sex, age, or socioeconomic status of the individuals. To maximize the value of a PGS, approaches to screen trait-PGS pairs for evidence of such heterogeneity without having to specify the relevant exposure or individual characteristics would be useful. Here, in analyses from the UK Biobank, we show that a PGS's predictive accuracy depends on the quantile of the phenotypic distribution to which the PGS is being applied. We quantify differences in predictive value across the phenotypic range using quantile regression linear models to estimate quantile-specific effect sizes for linear models of phenotype values as a function of PGS. Of 25 continuous traits, only three have no quantile-specific effect sizes that varied by at least 1.2-fold from the ordinary least squares estimate. Through simulation, we demonstrate that this heterogeneity of PGS predictive value can arise from gene-by-environment interactions. Our approach can be used to flag traits where the use of PGSs warrants extra caution, and perhaps stratification variables should be sought and used because PGSs perform substantially differently in portions of the sampled population than expected from quoted predictive R or incremental R values that represent average performance across a dataset.

The COVID-19 pandemic requires face-to-face learning to shift to online or distance learning. Therefore, the elementary school, which is the most basic level of education affected by this phenomenon, where this research is carried out. This study aimed to analyze the process of implementing online learning, the supporting and inhibiting factors for teachers, students, and parents in implementing online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, good practices for online learning were also analyzed in this study to understand these phenomena in elementary schools. The research method utilized descriptive qualitative research and was performed at a private primary school in Yogyakarta. The subjects consisted of teachers, students, and parents that were involved in the online learning process. Online questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data. The results of this study show the enormous impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the learning process. Learning that is usually carried out face-to-face (conventional) has now been converted into online learning in elementary school.

As jamu small-medium enterprises (SMEs) concentrate on establishing online sales and computerized systems, Point of Sales (PoS) becomes a strategic solution to maintain financial stability with its capabilities in recording electronic transactions accurately. As the initial step in technology empowerment for jamu SMEs, the research proposes a concept in facilitating jamu SMEs to adapt in online business. A combination of Connolly and Begg's database design principles and McCarthy's Marketing Mix 4P generates a conceptual design of PoS database targeted specifically for jamu SMEs. The database design manages online purchasing transactions for jamu products by involving not only jamu SMEs and consumers but also a system administrator who manages data verification and extraction.
